I don't know what it is, but the aesthetics for this game just aren't doing it for me. I really want to be exited for this, but I just can't be. I will keep an eye out and reserve some hope for the future.

it's a selfish question (especially since optimization is probably a looooong ways away at this point) but i've got an older machine these days and a quality f2p monster hunter would really feed my needs in my impoverished state
When I played it everything felt alarmingly loose. If they've tightened that up it'd be nice, but stock dodge rolls being over a full second of iframes just felt bad.
The combat combos also were short and unsatisfying. I assume they have to have added more, but there was little to no depth in the weapons. Especially allowing me to move while charging GS, that just felt broken and made the entire thing not fun to play because it was just a slow sword.

i may or may not have played for about 8 hours in one sitting
*gets crowbar and begins to pry*
Is it safe to buy the cheap founder's pack? Game is atleast on solid foundation? That would be enough for me to support more PC hunting games.
Signed up for the beta (or maybe just alpha, don't remember) but if I'm not in that first round of invites, might not be able to resist if the word is good.
id most compare it to a really great version of ds1 dlc's kalameet fight
That would be a tall order. None of the dragon fights in souls games are fun at all.
Gaping Dragon.
True, I didn't think of that one. It's more of a friendly sewer alligator in my mind. Kind of too far the other way though in that it's way too easy to exactly be fun either.

My computer is starting to show its age, I don't think it will be able to run Dauntless. But I am pretty interested in how the newest competitor to MH does.

Tbf, the min and recommended they have for Dauntless seems to be a little more demanding than the average game. Though I haven't had a chance to boot up the game yet.

The graphics style is definitely unique, a very WoW-cartoony style
that can be hit or miss depending on your preferences
it is very much a monster hunter game
like down to animation precedence, combat, flow of game, loot, gathering materials etc
you can check out some psp MH's using emulators if you have a knack
have you played pc versions of the souls series?
id most compare it to a really great version of ds1 dlc's kalameet fight
This...
This is the phrase.
Are you prepared to back up that phrase?
Because if you seriously are willing to defend that phrase then I start to consider becoming a founder.
And I trust you, specifically, in your ability to assess whether something is an MH game.
