I would love to play this but I have moved and my internet now resembles the speeds one would expect using carrier pigeons.
Dang, that's too bad. We haven't played anything together in years. Did you move to a tiny Alaskan village or something?
I can sympathize, though. My current internet is 1/4 the price of the old provider and was supposedly just as good, but it has bouts of dropping connection randomly every few days. Ended up getting disconnected during an Embermane hunt near the end twice last night. :bigfrown:
Yeah it's been too long man. I'm in the mountains and until I get to a more permanent location that's a little closer to a town I just can't play multiplayer games. I'm glad you're having fun though.
...so I guess there's a couple of people wanting to try it now that it's in open beta.

yeah this game blew up when world came out
ive been in betas since late last year, its changed 100% over multiple times
my only gripe is that the hitstun is still not as satisfying as i would want it, and the difficulty spike is similar to old MH games (where it comes from awkward hitboxes and being 2 shot)
theres also some loot-grinding aspects that i do not enjoy, but overall if youre on the fence i would definitely give it a try
Yeah, played it on and off since the founder's alpha. Was considering diving into it again a month ago but figured I might as well wait for the final wipe.
I'm quite curious about this game, just waiting until launch is in sight so it's nearly done with polish and they're definitely not wiping anymore.
Same.
Looking forward to the game but still want to see it cleaned up abit and not to have my gear taken away.
This was (supposedly) the last wipe.
Yeah they call it an "Open Beta", but this is effectively release.
Also, man this game is really good. I got in to the closed beta months ago and enjoyed myself well enough, but didn't expect anything satisfying to come from it. Now though? Yeah I can see myself playing this for a good while.
Or at least I would like to play it, after this 23k player queue clears.
edit- Hah I went back in this thread and read some of my concerns I had about the game back when it was announced. I am very happy to say that they ended up being a non-issue.
Axen on

I'm pretty interested in getting into this. Little bit worried that there only seem to be six monsters? One new monster every six months seems like a long time to wait.
I just am very unsure. This studio is very much under the reticle with respect to it's continued existance under EA. I love this style of gameplay, but given what's been coming out in the news regarding the behind the scenes going-ons. Is this going to be a positive games as services experience?

Phoenix Labs is an independent studio.
Wow. I have no idea where I got wind of this game being beholden to higher powers, my bad.

Plus during early access they had a loot box system. They removed it after the Battlefront controversy and replaced it with a more straight forward system. In their words they said, “We never even thought about it. Loot boxes just seemed like the thing you do.”
Honestly I’ve no doubt the Devs can deliver, I just feel sorry for them that MHW PC release is around the corner. But man, nobody saw that one coming last year.

I didn't really notice the loot boxes in alpha, mostly because you just picked them up after monsters and took them home to get crafting supplies. Which just ends up being Monster Hunter, but with extra steps.
Registering an account and it has a spot for a referral username. Does that give any goodies to the person that gives you the referral? And if so anyone want me to toss one in for you?
Yeah, after they came back up it was like a 20 minute wiat for me instead of the 3 or 4 hours more to go I was guessing originally.
Got a few hours in and only stopped because it started having matchmaking issues. Really fun so far, I'd love to get in with some PA folks once the Pax Arcadia guild gets rolling.
My own 360 controller worked perfectly fine. Is yours in the first player position?
Restarting a couple times got it working. I wish more games just had a toggle in the options instead of trying to do autodetection.
Hmm. It seemed really good at autodetection to me. Prompts switching without even having to restart and such.
Windows interacts weirdly with Xbox controllers sometimes. If you have one plugged in and it gets set to not player one then most programs just won't detect it at all.
Got right in this morning with no queue. I'm wondering if it's because it's early or because I killed it in task manager after a long wait for Ramsgate last night. They said something about disconnects getting right back in so maybe I fooled the system.
So far I like the axe the best I think, hitting a embermane as it charges and having it go sprawling past me is pretty great. Still havn't found a group that can beat a Drask yet, people keep getting downed and shooting the danger up rapidly. They have made some great progress on the queues as well, although stuck at 40K+ now but it is Sunday on a holiday weekend for the US so that's to be expected I guess.

The queue was basically non-existent this morning though, so that was nice.
I should try some of the other weapons out here, but the chain scythes and going whirly blender is pretty satisfying. The longer ranged swipes are useful as well for getting in damage while it's attacking. The dash in/blast out move is kind of questionable imo though.
Yeah when I tried the twin blades I found myself almost never using the blast out vs just dodge rolling, not sure if it gives i frames like dodging does. I was on pretty late last night / early morning for a bit and I didn't see a queue at all either. They have been posting on their subreddit all the work they have been doing to get server capacity up and get the queue going faster. Looks like my queue just went from 35k+ people to just in so they must have gotten more capacity going.

I would almost believe you if I hadn't already been waiting for an hour...

You guys weren't kidding about those queue times. Well, at least the interest seems to be there.
Windows interacts weirdly with Xbox controllers sometimes. If you have one plugged in and it gets set to not player one then most programs just won't detect it at all.
Unlocked the war pike, but I only did two hunts with it so obviously haven't formed a proper opinion yet.
The queue was basically non-existent this morning though, so that was nice.
