So Ubisoft is deploying a new game: Sicario. I mean Wildlands
The premise is that the ghosts have been deployed to dismantle a Bolivian Cartel. For maximum ridiculousness and stereotyping a Santa Muerte practicing cartel.
Yeah, sigh.
So why do I keep referencing Sicario?
Because the game is apparently supposed to be very free-form. You are given tools (Weapons and Vehicles) and objectives (capture this guy, stop this thing, wreck this place). And then you are let loose.
How you accomplish things is entirely up to you.

50 weapons in game and the ability to switch out barrels, scopes, sights, stocks, suppressors, etc.
On the one hand open world free form special ops missions. Sounds very very cool. You can scout and plan and go in like a well-executed machine. Or if you just want to cowboy it you can do that to. Whatever you want, however you want, so long as you get the job done. Black ops, black bag, deniable asset.
On the other hand Ubisoft. Fuck. I have been disappointed by them before. The main characters you are going after seem paper-thin and game length seems very... variable. As in done after 5 hours variable.
So what have you guys heard?
Because my hopes are high, but so are my fears.
I'd be totally ok with the freeform everything motif if they made sure the ghost recon lethality was maintained higher than your average sandbox game.
The whole thing about the series has been proper planning and execution of your mission, and while its cool to go in stealth, I can't help but feel you'll have that one guy that plays like Mercenaries 2 and just run and guns the whole time because its quicker.
If you want to go in guns blazing, cool. But your shit should be wrecked if you don't have a concise plan for going about it. The weight of numbers, and intensity of those near the situation should push back the longer you are in a protracted fight. If I can stand in the open and mow down a company and two tanks, its not ghost recon.

Honestly its GTAv open world and heists + division character customization and gun play (minus the rpg parts- its straight gunplay no numbers) + farcry 3/4 base taking mechanic
early reports state its a typical ubi collect-athon on a giant map. If its remotely fun in coop ill be happy.

I do want this to be good, though! Mostly for the sake of my buddy's mental health. I think he was the most hyped person on the planet for The Division, and that game shattered his mind and drove him to madness.

i think you can take more damage than that but the vids have a fall back on the screen indicating .... regenning health.
Seriously this just looks like mil sim coop farcry 4. I am so ok with this.
There was a vid where an enemy chopper flew through.... you can duck them by going prone in the weeds.... it kinda threw a spotlight down in the fields the ghosts were in.... and then lurched on.
I also saw a massive penalty for civilian death (called in mil/pd patrols on your location on top of whatever cartel forces you were fighting).... which is refreshing.
