I've never had issues once I got the program running. I frequently cannot get it to reach the title screen without crashing though and have to repeatedly reopen it until it works.
I have this problem a lot, I have found it's generally related to alt-tabbing or otherwise taking the Hearthstone out of focus before the splash screen shows up.
If you don't run Emperor you can't OTK Reno. Most damage you can fit in a turn for 10 mana is Roaring Torch, Roaring Torch, Frostbolt, Ice Lance, Ice Lance which is 23.
May just have to start saving Sorcerer's Apprentice to enable those?

Wait, so how many fucking cards do I need before I stop getting randomly stomped just because I'm getting outdrawn?
What are good "deals" in terms of $$$ ? I already got the Welcome pack for $5. Is that it? Am I forever doomed into whale territory or being forced to play this forever just to be competitive?

The only "deals" are some wings of the adventures that include cards that are frequently run. Unfortunately they usually spread them out through out the wings.
Holy crap when hand buffadin works it's goddamned amazing.
I got paladin for brawl and was like "oh nooo".
But then I got the most amazing hand ever. I think i had 35/20 on board by turn 7. With a 5/4 and a 4/3 wild pyromancer in hand. With the buff all minions at end of turn and the heal hero when attack minions out. Flanked by two 10+ hp taunts.

I started 2/3 months ago and have spent about 100.
Im currently rank 13, but if i'd had more time to play i could push further.
Fake noob here (I played a ton early, never spent money, and missed all the expansions). If I'm in a spending freeze at the moment (I'll be happy to buy an adventure or 5 at some point), what's the best adventure to spend gold on opening wings (is there a handy list of which cards come from where anywhere)?
I've also got ~3600 dust sitting around and I could very well put together something to do reasonable in the ladder with, but I am unsure of crafting patches and that change-your-hero-power guy because they'll only really be good in one thing. Considering building Pirates without those, maybe crafting Leeroy since he's in the base set. I already have a bunch of the good warrior rares... Tell me if I'm dumb.
I have a friend who started playing about a month ago or so. I recommended to him that he not worry about BRM, TGT, and LOE because they're about to rotate out. He ended up buying Karazhan so we threw a Zoo deck together with a few hundred dust and he was able to hit rank 15 with it on his own last month. I don't know how high the limit is for a Zoo deck without Dark Peddler and Imp Gang Boss is, but at least pre-MSG it was good enough. His rank was limited more by his ability to play than the deck at least.

I watched a past broadcast of Day9 today while at work where he ran a beneath the grounds Miracle Rogue to counter all the Reno decks with pirates for the early game. I wanna build that and try that out, pretty tired of running into Reno after Reno.

Golden Shaman! Fifth class after Druid, Priest, Paladin and Mage. Just over halfway on the remaining 4 classes combined, though Hunter and Rogue are still lagging way behind (still not 60...).
E: Also the list I was using destroys Reno but loses pretty bad to Jade druid and is a toss up against aggro and priest, so I'd rate it: bad. Still -

This is a good point. I wonder if I mightn't be better off just trying different stuff, buying gadgetzan packs, and then picking specific things up next year. I can always buy Karazan for fun any time too.
Good grief paladin with this brawl is brutal. Took forever to get a win.
You were getting Paladin or playing against it?
I got my 3 wins in 3 games: Druid v Paladin on NA, Priest v Druid on EU, and then Druid v Paladin again on Asia. Both DvPs were grind-it-out near fatigue games won with Jade Idols. The other was just midrange dragon-priest rickrolling.

this brawl is fun though, blizzard really knocked it out of the part with the design and voice acting of all the gang leaders
Eh. I had Paladin on my first game and won. If you're willing to play it a bit slower you can stabilize quite dramatically and then threaten with some big burst through buffed Argent Horseriders.
Getting large but cheap Taunt minions (like a 6/11 boosted Ancient of Blossoms or a 6/6 Wickerflame) out can screw up the Druid deck because it doesn't carry any real removal.
There's nothing like getting one win away from your target rank for the season that summons the terrible RNG and unwinnable matchups.
Third time hitting 16 and 3 stars this season, and then the game throws perfect curve pirate warrior at my unlucky draw zoo warlock. Like fucking clockwork.
Get the fuck out of rank 15, asshole.
Edit: The game ended up with me being 1 off lethal on my last turn too, for maximum RNG Cleveland Steamer.

I wish I had a good answer to tell you, man.
The fact of the matter is, Hearthstone is fucking awful for new players. It's goddamn atrocious.
I was lucky when I started playing. I started playing back when the game itself was new, and everyone else was new, and Classic was the only set and no one had all these crazy cards yet. From there I just kept doing dailies and building up my collection steadily and it all seemed to fall in place.
But that was then. You can't feasibly do that now, not without a metric fuckton of frustration in the meantime. I'm not gonna tell you to drop money on that game, cause that's dumb. Realistically dropping money is simply going to save you time. That's all it's gonna do. I mean, you can drop money and get all the cards you want, but that isn't necessarily mean you're gonna start crushing everyone all of a sudden.
There's sites that have budget decks out there that are pretty decently constructed. There's aggro decks that exist that contain no legendaries, no epics, and only a few rares and are still like top tier decks (Zoo Warlock, old school Aggro Warrior). In general I would actually recommend Aggro decks for new players, simply because they're cheap, fast, and effective, and they'll let you play on an even playing field with the Big Boys. Maybe Aggro isn't the style of deck you actually want to play, but it's something feasible in the short term.
Like I said, I wish I had something better to tell you. This game is awful for new players. If you wanna try and stick it out despite that, look up some budget decks. Or ask people in the thread, I'm sure someone can try and hook you up with one.
You can filter according to dust cost, rating, and views and stuff too. Some of them are still a wee bit expensive though (500-600 dust). But I'm sure there's substitutes for some of those. Just ask if you need help subbing out a card you don't have.
If you want I can try and whip up a couple budget decks using only the Basic cards. There's definitely effective decks that can be made with those. A lot of it really does just come down to having the right kind of deck. Like you can play Druid with shit like Chillwind Yetis and Boulderfist Ogres and still make that work because you're still dropping efficient minions on curve.

And attempt number 4 is thwarted by a Reno priest with all the fucking trimmings. Raza into Dragonfire Potion into Chillmaw. Unwinnable. (Edit: Turn 8 was Cabaling my lone Imp Gang Boss to add insult to a pile of manure).
I just want my fucking rare for the season, Blizzard. You can stop with the bullshit matchmaking now.

That is rough, though. Keep plugging away!
Well, final boss #5 was some weird form of token druid. He had eggs and buffs. His hand must have been clunky, because I dominated the board and he conceded turn 6. Yay. Rare card rank achieved for the season.
Officially the unluckiest CCG player ever.

almost anything with purple in it
Ice blocks and doom sayers I'd say are more important to freeze than T as they're part of the core.
Otherwise I guess the only other better beginner deck to rank with is zoo.
Always zoo.
