So I crafted a 2nd knife juggler and 2 azure drakes because they seemed pretty solid and where in a lot of lists. But is there a shortlist of classic cards a new player should make? Otherwise I may make 2 thing from below's for shaman.
And I'm almost at 20 on Mage so hopefully I can get the brawl in this week. I'm thinking my hunter may be the best option just with the number of death rattles that seem playable in the class.
Azure Drakes are solid all around. Have you played any card games before? What kind of decks do you like? Combo, Aggro, Control?
I've been playing a lot of competitive magic in the last year so I feel a lot better jumping into this now than the first time I gave it a shot.
I haven't really committed to any play style here yet. I like Mage removal a lot so far and my budget c'thun deck has been doing real work in ranked so far (got to 18 in my first run the other day). I like how quickly basic hunter can close a game too. In magic I play all three between different formats so I don't really think I'm drawn to one in particular. I know in magic, aggro is cheaper. Is that still true here?

Some aggro decks are crazy expensive. Warlock has some aggro decks that are closer to budget. You "can" get legend with a completely free to play no legends deck, but you would have to play a crap-ton of games. My favorite decks in HS are combo decks, so Rogue is my favorite class. Mage has premium removal.
Have you played your free arena? If you are good at arena (I am terrible) you can make a lot of gold and get a lot of packs. There are also a ton of arena resources (tier lists, guided pick engines).

I have been playing a lot of Renolock and just playing the long value game since I don't have Leeroy. Tech'ed Brewmaster to be able to grab Reno, Kazakus, Kabal Courier and Peddler back in hand to keep the good times rolling. I also have that epic 6/6 which gives you a random Demon after each turn.
However with 2400 dust in hand, I wonder if I should just bite the bullet and craft Leeroy so I can play the Leeroy/PO + Faceless combo. Is that the best iteration of Renolock right now?
I'll hang up and listen.

Hey it's ok I'm only behind by five mana as well as board despite playing 3/4 turns on curve! He then sent a friend request:
i just had a miracle game yesterday where i did that to someone. fandral living even 1 extra turn is bonkers.
all i want for christmas is for druid to have some way to stealth...

It can be hard but there's been a few ways i have beaten then. Sometimes the opponent does a poor job of balancing the placement of Golems versus reshuffling, and they fall into a Shadowflame, Twisting Nether or one of the many fun Kazakus potions which clears via damage or Polymorphs. Other times I negate the ramp with canceling out battlecries via Dirty Rat.
Obviously if you have board control and can flip the switch to Jaraxxus, that's a game winner.

I used my free arena whenever i was playing the first time (stats say I got 1 win) so I haven't wanted to dive into that just yet and have been focusing on getting a decent variety of cards for constructed. I do draft magic a lot though and I'm pretty ok at it (I'd say 2-1 on average) so i will explore that more soon.
I did ignore some of the advice the other day, got super hyped on the game, and bought the karazhan adventure so I have a few extra toys to work with. Barnes seems solid and prince is just fine value. The other legends I have are King crush (i got 1 as my welcome pack and a second in the actual packs so yay dust) for hunter, tirion fordring for paladin, and a neutral gorilla who gives me 2 bananas (i don't know what that means) in my hand, I think it's muckla, tyrant of the veil? Oh and obvisouly c'thun. I'm a fan of getting a free legend for buying a pack
I guess right now I'm just trying to figure out what a good set of staples to have is for broad range applications, then i can start saving gold/dust for specific things that I'm interested in
Tirion is the best class specific Legend available. Kara is an ok adventure. Mukkla is not that great.
Aside from Azure Drakes I would say that the only other neutral rares that fit more than 1 deck are Gadgetzan Auctioneers. Everything else seems to be really deck/class specific.
Any suggestions? I don't have and can't craft Aya.
Ah yes but you see, you CAN get her if you Journey Below :bzz:
Anyway, you lack lategame. I'd definitely recommend tossing in a big lategame fatty leggo or two. An 8-9 drop and then a 6 drop or something. Ragnaros is the obvious one, if you have him. Sylvanas or Cairne are also good, if you have them. If not, don't fret.
Also pitch Sinister Strikes. They're not doing anything for you.
I don't have Sylvanas or Cairne.
I knew I was missing that kind of endgame and was wondering if Questing Adventurer grew off of Jade Golems? I have Ragnaros and might throw him in if the Questing / Golem thing doesn't work.
How about replacing the Sinister Strikes with Shadowsteps? That'll help with the Jade battlecries.

Easiest way to win is to tap aggressively to find an early mountain giant which forces them to get mulch or be disastrously behind. Don't trade unless its for value, and push face damage when you can. Get them to use their feral rages to clear. Use Brann disruptively since on an empty board they only have feral and swipes that can kill it. 90% of the time the druid will make the trades for you UNLESS they are an exceptionally good player, who understands how to navigate the matchup correctly.
The goal is to negotiate them to around 10 life, so that if you run the leeroy combo you can threaten to end the game immediately.
I tried making an Astral Communion (and then mega ramp when I got tired of drawing useless Astrals) deck with Goya, I did pull Arcane Giant once but it was really hard to actually play.
Playing against a Reno priest at 7 health, have a roaring torch that I'm going to hold back because he hasn't dropped Reno yet.
Forgot I had azure drake on the board. So I missed lethal. Next turn Reno comes down, but it's okay, I have a solid board, so I get him back to 8 and have guaranteed lethal
Nope.
Coldarra Drake from a courier way earlier. And he had played Raza/justicar Only reason I didn't lose earlier than that was embrace the shadows was his last card.
As hilarious as that combo is, I'm really surprised blizzard allows it to be possible. There's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it, other than have so much armor the rope saves you.

I think the only way he would stop being relevant is if he lost charge, or got nerfed to like 2 attack.

If you cut Jaraxxus you risk losing to priest. That matchup is nearly unwinnable for the average Reno priest if you have Jaraxxus.

Right, the call is more about how much Reno priest I expect to face. Around rank 5 I've seen it here or there but it's definitely been in the minority. Worth experimenting with at the very least.

Batstone banned a card and required decks to have at least 10 of the new cards in their decks. I wouldn't draw any kind of ladder or meta information from them as it's not representative of anything outside their particular tournament.
I also bit a bullet and crafted Aya. I think the golem mechanic is cool, and Aya was actually the Legendary I most wanted to open, but I got the wrong Panda Lady!
I don't suppose anyone has seen Madame Goya put to decent use yet?
I can give you ideas. They may not be good ideas, but they would be Madame Goya ideas
So every minion in here is a combo piece or relevant threat you can get from Goya.
You can use the living roots and jade idols and Power of the Wilds to generate minions that you can then Goya to get one of the more relevant threats - Ysarj, Rag, Fandral, Auctioneer, etc.
The goal is to generate a massive goya turn where you put her plus another threat onto the board. You've got removal and healing to stall early, and the auctioneers to help you dig for the relevant combo pieces. This deck functions like a miracle ramp deck if you can't find goya, with the only situational piece being the Power of the wild (which you can combo with Fandral or use a 3/2 minion against aggro). There are no taunts in this list, and no Barnes. That is possibly an oversight - not sure yet. Every time you Goya I want to hit something relevant that threatens to end the game immediately. Fandral is the only concession because his effect is so powerful, but I was leery of Barnes because I didn't want to produce only a 3/4, but that may just be incorrect.
Sogoth might also have a place, and the auctioneers might be too gimmicky. Not sure yet. Finding the right minion package is going to be difficult. But when this deck goes off, it's going to feel REALLY good.
Late last night my wife wanted to watch a Christmas movie but I knew she'd fall asleep within two minutes, plus I wanted to veg out and mindlessly play aggro Shaman instead of committing to a movie, so I (ironically?) fired up one of those video yule log fireplaces w/ music on Netflix. I always make fun of those things; sure enough, the music was super-lame MIDI-type nonsense and I burst out laughing as soon as it started. Then I queued up in HS to continue my win streak. My wife was out cold before I could mulligan my hand, so I stopped looking for something else to watch and just let the fireplace video play. Time to push to level 5, baby.
Jump cut to a short while later and I shake awake violently and see a "DEFEAT!" screen before me and the still-roaring fake fire on the TV behind it. Fell asleep during my streak. I couldn't resist the calming enchantment of the yule log. I had roped every turn as I dozed. I'm part of the problem.
I wish I could say I got up and went to bed. But I queued up again. Determined to stay awake. Telling myself I wasn't ready to end my run there. I made it through a couple of turns and the next thing I knew a crappy synth "O Holy Night" was hitting its high notes and I was regaining consciousness and staring at another DEFEAT! screen. I had been asleep for almost an hour.
I guess what I'm saying is Patches is a pretty good card

Yeah that's fine, just sub in sylvannas instead of mulch and cairn instead of Ysharrj. Ysharrj generates the unbeatable combo of goya, + large dude + large dude on turn 7 or so. Cairn is not quite in the same league, but can let you grind out if needed.
The deck is multidimensional, don't be afraid to play like a jade druid and grind out your opponent in slow games with Jade Idol + Auctioneer.
Mountain Giant is still a bonkers card for Warlock. I don't get why they nerfed Molten really.
Playing a cheap Mountain requires such a huge tempo investment these days. Molten should have just been 22, but I guess it needs to be divisible by 5 for some reason.

It occurred to me that Mulch is pretty useful so I went ahead and crafted one anyway. I dropped in Emperor for Y'Shaarj - my thinking being that I want whatever I pull with Goya to have an immediate effect that can't be played around. I'll try it a couple of times and then maybe try dropping in Cairne instead.

Sogoth might also have a place, and the auctioneers might be too gimmicky. Not sure yet. Finding the right minion package is going to be difficult. But when this deck goes off, it's going to feel REALLY good.
It's just crazy enough to work.
BUT - I don't have Mulch (I know, I know) or Y'Shaarj. Maybe I could sub in Sylvanas and/or Cairne?
Yeah that's fine, just sub in sylvannas instead of mulch and cairn instead of Ysharrj. Ysharrj generates the unbeatable combo of goya, + large dude + large dude on turn 7 or so. Cairn is not quite in the same league, but can let you grind out if needed.
The deck is multidimensional, don't be afraid to play like a jade druid and grind out your opponent in slow games with Jade Idol + Auctioneer.
I am not promising this deck is good by the way, just so we're clear. It's just an idea that may be totally awful.
Oh, I get that, and truthfully I don't think it has any hope in the meta. It's still a fun experiment.

It wasn't long ago that mountain giant was way too slow for the meta. It's only the advent of so many slow decks and especially slow decks that can't handle it (i.e. Druid) that makes it great again.
Leeroy will always be relevant. He's even been nerfed and he's still relevant.
When I started playing around Blackrock Mountain I never saw Leeroy. He only started popping back up around Old Gods, at least in my experience.
That was before they nerfed arcane golem, I don't think they're ever going to print another card as good as arcane golem.
I just got run over by an evolve shaman running doppleganger and the 1/1 that makes a 6/6. Plus the usual neurbian prophets and thing from below.
he was also a greedy asshole running Reno in a deck full of duplicates. Literally had the asshole dropped on me when he had 5 health and he was drawing fatigue

Did you mean molten giant?
And if Patches has proved anything its that Blizzard is not shy about printing powerful potentially game warping cards.

Do you have N'zoth?
I can give you ideas. They may not be good ideas, but they would be Madame Goya ideas

Do it.

However with 2400 dust in hand, I wonder if I should just bite the bullet and craft Leeroy so I can play the Leeroy/PO + Faceless combo. Is that the best iteration of Renolock right now?

How does long-value-game Renolock handle Jade Druid?

LEEEERROOOYY mhmhm JENKINS!
i just had a miracle game yesterday where i did that to someone. fandral living even 1 extra turn is bonkers.
all i want for christmas is for druid to have some way to stealth...

I guess right now I'm just trying to figure out what a good set of staples to have is for broad range applications, then i can start saving gold/dust for specific things that I'm interested in
Aside from Azure Drakes I would say that the only other neutral rares that fit more than 1 deck are Gadgetzan Auctioneers. Everything else seems to be really deck/class specific.
Nope! And very little dust!

Questing grows off any card you play.
Leeroy will always be relevant. He's even been nerfed and he's still relevant.

@Iron Weasel Here's a first pass: http://www.hearthpwn.com/deckbuilder/druid#120:2;131:2;165:2;282:2;495:1;503:1;548:2;620:2;633:2;22329:2;22383:1;27230:2;33156:1;35208:1;35210:2;49684:1;49703:2;49714:2;
