I find Day9's streamer personality obnoxiously goofy. I much preferred his style back when SCII came out, his stream had an educational and analytical approach, and he was actually himself and not some constantly laughing goober act.

I guess I didn't start watching him until the last year-ish, but I don't see the knock of being not "actually himself". Part of his problem is he gets himself so distracted just going off on tangents and talking about random bullshit that he doesn't pay attention and makes plays like the last page.
And I find his laughing pretty infectious. I like that he's not Super srs bsns cooler-than-you streamer guy, the vibe I get from Forsen and Reynad where they seem to have nothing but disdain for everyone who enables their lifestyle.

I feel like if he wasn't being over the top he couldn't handle dealing with Hearthstone's bullshit on a regular basis.

That mage deck Krip went 12-0 with was garbage, pretty impressive he did that with such a bad deck.

he's still pretty educational and analytical, just not really for Hearthstone per se. Half his daily stream is random shit about mtg, brood wars and math problems.

i like when someone in arena concedes out of shame on turn 2
I was playing dragon priest and this guy sapped my Twilight Guardian and hit my face and played out a bunch more minions, enough that he had lethal next turn. So I quickly slap my dragon back down and hit it with a Kabal Talonpriest and I'm all like "Yeah! Fuck your lethal!" and then notice I accidentally got the Twilight Guardian mixed up with a Twilight Drake and shamefully conceded.

He has a good personality for it.
Yup, this.
If I just wanna laugh and have a good time, I go watch my pal Day9 being a big ol' goofball. Also Disguised Toast has been a pretty fun watch as of late (fukken Confuse Priest OTK decks, rofllll).
If I wanna watch high level play or whatnot, there's pleeeeenty of dudes who do that. StrifeCro, Brian Kibler, Dog, etc etc.
Also Disguised Toast has been a pretty fun watch as of late (fukken Confuse Priest OTK decks, rofllll).
It's amazing how much he fucks up the math on if he has lethal with this deck.

The missed Djinn lethal because he cast all his stuff on the Djinn itself instead of the minion he stole is still pretty high up there for me in amazing moments. And his reaction to it.
Warlock vs rogue in this brawl is so hilariously bad for the warlock. Your hero power makes 1/1s any time an enemy minion dies. The rogue boss spams low health minions and then his hero power does 1 damage to all minions, making a 2/2 for each kill. Haaaa

I'm half convinced he does it just to screw with chat.
It's stunning...Just absolutely stunning...how bad some otherwise smart people are at doing math in their heads. Like, struggling to count past 20 bad.

In Toast's defense (?), he has a problem of not thinking on his opponent's turn (or of playing out his turns multiple turns ahead), so time pressure of his clock counting down might be fucking up his plays.

i'm like toast in that i work pretty loose on maths, not because i'm bad at it necessarily but because for me it's a bit of a chore and i'm not that worried about individual wins or losses, so unless it's a clutch turn i tend to go by "probably lethal" or "probably not lethal." i also use divine spirit/inner fire in my priest deck (i dusted my djinns :bigfrown:) and i think part of the appeal is the unusual systematic interaction that's so powerful it makes the precise numbers irrelevant - you end up with "probably lethal" anyway. i guess i'm the kind of player that loves looking for these "if it works, you can't lose" scenarios over just good on curve minions and removal traded and preserved perfectly

I hear you. And honestly it starts getting complicated really fast with stuff like miracle rogue. You're keeping track of order of play, mana, mana discounts, what you need to clear, etc. You turn into a calculating machine for 20 seconds, and then you're like "fucking bingo! I have exactly lethal!" And then you innervate, coin. Sad!

I think this is one of the first ones I saw. He acted significantly more restrained ~5 years ago.
People change, mang. Sucks that you don't like to watch him anymore, but I'd find an analytical starcraft stream to be pretty ResidentSleeper so I prefer the current Day9,
I like both analytical and goofy Day9. Definitely watched him more in the SC2 days, but the game sort of died off and we all moved on.
Case in point, the SC2 thread used to be front page with dozens of posts every day. Now it's a graveyard.

Day9 now (and of the last 1-1.5 years) I find too over the top, but the goofball stage he went through for the 2-3 years before that I really liked. I think around the time he did his Amnesia playthrough was the time he was doing his best streaming work.

I also get the joke but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
(if you haven't watched Day[9]'s Amnesia playthrough, his chat successfully trolls the fuuuuuuuck out of him and it's glorious, also you should watch the whole playthrough it's hysterical).

I'm trying this out now, and maybe I don't get it... or maybe I'm just blowing my load to early with flamewaker + spells before thaur and gadgetzen, but I'm not doing to well at rank 12-13.
Edit - The only match where it even remotely worked at 7-8 mana was against an Aviana+Cthun druid that got every single combo piece before turn 8. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Also out of 5-6 games 3 of them were pirate warrior and 1 was pirate shaman.
I think I discovered a bug. If your opponent has four minions, and you play Dirty Rat followed by Brann and Mind Control Tech, you will always steal their most two most valuable minions.
Also, coincidentally, their face immediately explodes.

Noth should not be the warlock hero. He is so hilariously bad in comparison to every single other hero that it's kind of impressive.

He was my first Legendary. I dusted him to make a Shield Slam, I think.

Wasn't Tinkmaster the first legendary in the game and you could only get him by spending $ (any amount)?
and then you could only get ETC if you went to blizzcon (ugh)

There better be a cheap Shaman or neutral not-shitty draw spell in the next expansion

My prediction:
Just randomly summon a Gahz'rilla in front of his pawns. Np np.
