I'm trying this out now, and maybe I don't get it... or maybe I'm just blowing my load to early with flamewaker + spells before thaur and gadgetzen, but I'm not doing to well at rank 12-13.
Edit - The only match where it even remotely worked at 7-8 mana was against an Aviana+Cthun druid that got every single combo piece before turn 8. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Also out of 5-6 games 3 of them were pirate warrior and 1 was pirate shaman.
I dunno, it's hard to say there's a hard fast rule on how to play out a given game, I just kinda feel out every matchup. I try to play really efficient until a gadgetzan hits the board and then cycle as much as possible while filling up on low cost spells. Ideally I only "need" one tick out of Emperor to make the spells mostly 0-1 mana. Then as soon as you get a gadgetzan in hand and you can get a flamewaker to stick, it's game over.

I finally won one against a Pirate Warrior (with weird Curator techs?) and it worked pretty well cause of draws and Barnes pulling a 1/1 Gadgetzen.

The Gadgetzan or the Flamewaker are the Barnes Dream for that deck.
I finally lost running into a paladin who topdecked Forbidden Healing for 20 after I had him at 1 and then topdecked Ivory Knight into Forbidden Healing when I had him back to 1 and I finally ran out of steam.
Pirate Warriors' single minded "ME GO FACE" is predictably adorable and so exploitable. Could have killed my Mana Wyrm when it was just 2/3 with your Arcanite Reaper, li'l fella. Now it's 9/2 and smashing your fucking face in after I arcane blasted all your minions and frostbolt/icelanced you in the face. How do you feel about that decision?

god bless the noble skelesaurus hex players in this brawl for enabling me to pull off such plays as the famous turn 6 aviana-abomination-abomination-shadowbolt defence
Ungh just made a horrid misplay for the win. (well i just didn't want to gamble on topdecking hex, but miscalculated the other option so i could have gone for it regardless). And my totem drew hex when i ended my turn
Why does that feel so awful?
Oh thats right because it ends your winstreak and makes you feel like a dumb-dumb.
Aggro shaman is the best choice for climbing. There really is very little competition, it is just as good against aggro that control decks are and it has no can't win match ups. Also it is super fast!

Yesterday in quests, I had "Win 5 games with Shaman or Warlock", "Win 5 games with Shaman or Mage" "Play 15 Overload cards".
So I gave in, made a Shaman agro deck and won 5-0. I felt pretty bad for most of those games (if there was a "I'm sorry, I'm doing this for my quests" button, I would have clicked it), except for the ones I came up against Pirate Warriors, because they all went face, and all spammed emotes, meaning it was tremendously entertaining to continually clear their boards and then hit them back.
In one game, I had my Thalnos on the board for about 6-7 turns which was a massive mistake (I've no idea why he never made any effort to get rid of it; I guess it wasn't my face).

Don't feel bad. We've all done it
Honestly I would play the shit out of Shaman if I didn't allready have the golden portrait (got it back when Shaman was bad, around TGT). Feels like a waste playing a class that's allready at 500 wins when I have 5 classes left to get there.

There is.
I'm of the opinion that Casual is where people take decks to experiment and try and see if they can get some quirky things to work. I wouldn't take agro shaman (or any other "efficient" deck that can end the game on turn 5 or 6) into Casual to "ruin" people's fun experimenting with silly things.
Ranked is where people are trying to win, and expect to come up against that type of thing.

Casual Wild is the place for Quests, bros.
I have completed so many Murloc quests just by spamming "Thank You", playing my cards and not attacking them. They eventually figure it out. I even use Blowgill Sniper to hit my own face in case they aren't getting the message.

As far as ladder climb goes, I still highly recommend Jackie's Egg Druid. It's super easy and incredibly fun, plays a lot like other aggro decks and the ladder isn't usually expecting it to take off like it does. I'm also against playing Aggro Shaman and Reno decks, so this is a nice exception to the meta.

Agreed. Also a benefit of Eggo Gruid is games end early or you lose, but the winrate is good enough to climb steadily without getting frustrated from games taking too long.

You can do that in Standard Casual as well. I've had so many good games like this where both sides go near fatigue to clear out each other's quests.
So hearthstone became my game I could play while I was stuck without a job for the last three months and now that I have one I decided to give them a few $$$ for the entertainment I got through all that.

ya curator dragon warrior was like the top tier deck for some time after karazhan alongside yogg druid
edit: I was just running it myself for quests, you only need 2x flame imp and 2x first mate to make running patches worthwhile

Never trust the cancel queue button, it's been broken for months
It'll often just freeze clients, I've had it happen and it's happened to Reynad on stream
Honestly think that's the largest Unbound Ele I've ever managed in Hearthstone.

This shaman deck from dibby seems like it's working but i'm like 10-10 now.
Which is on par with all my better decks, but not better.

If i did that for a week i'd probably reach 5+
