'pass' as in 'trying to pass for their gender'

I don't mean to drag this out but I'm kind of curious. I'm not sure I understand this use of "passing" in the context of the video. It was (what I would guess to be) a girl that preach identified as a guy based on mild androgyny (though it's p clear when you see the video imo). That seems like garden variety mixing people up, like I do every few weeks or so when I catch a glimpse of a fey gal that reminds me of Linku. Is there something else I'm missing?

Well, here is what the apology looks like:
    Preacher wrote:
She looked like a man. I'm sorry from the screen cap I got it wrong I didn't know it was a woman, but that hair is awful that I'm not sorry about, it looks terrible.

Wow what an apology! Doubling down on the person not passing for their gender & doubling down on how he thinks the hair is awful.

The remorse is truly soaked in sincerity.

EDIT: Like, there is not even a component of this apology where one owns up to a mistake. Responsibility is instead projected onto the screencap.

idk, if she were here I think common decency would require an apology to her for getting it wrong, even if it was an honest mistake

But she isn't here, and I'm not sure I see how it requires an apology to you or Pony instead

the fact that i find someone attractive who i otherwise wouldn't if they have cyan hair or if they have a small tattoo on their collarbone makes me feel like an especially dumb ape.

Wouldn't that make you a particularly smart ape because you're adding an additional layer to your perception of what is attractive.

    idk.

i think back to being 12 years old and seeing girls with black nail polish and being like O.O does that mean she touches penis O.O

that part of my brain sees dark nail polish and pink hair and tattoos and tongue rings and projects a layer of whatever

    Oh. Hm. I can't uh.

That is not a thing I am familiar with. Interesting.

I think a lot of people have selective memory about Jon Stewart's run. A lot of Stewart's jokes were substanceless (turtle Mitch McConnell for example) and many of them fell flat.

It has to be really, really hard to write new jokes on a daily basis about current events. So I don't really fault either Noah or Stewart when they hit some duds.

I heard covers of most of Postal Service's songs before hearing their actual album.

The two I remember most were Such Great Heights, which had a cover by Iron and Wine that was on the Garden State soundtrack (which I listened to religiously for awhile); and Nothing Better, which my friend arranged for our a cappella group way back in '06. I didn't hear the actual song until much later.

I felt like Iron and Wine violated some unspoken rule about a statute of limitations before recording a cover song

It was like we were back in the 50s when one song might be recorded by four or five different artists within a span of a few years
