I propose dinner this Wednesday to be at Chimac (Peel St, West Melbourne - opposite Queen Vic Markets) at 7.30pm. It's a Korean/Mexican restaurant and I'm super curious about it.

Korean/Mexican? So like bulgogi fajitas? Or bibimbap paella?

    That could be AMAZING...

You should check out MIX in the Perth CBD. I went there all the time when I worked at the old office.

I had to ponder this one for a bit but I agree with Blake here. I mean, to be fair HB actually knew this woman in real life so she’s got a perfectly valid basis for not liking her, buuuut the Dad is a public figure and naming him makes her identifiable to anyone reading the thread, same as if her full name had been posted.

I’m not wagging my finger here because I could easily have made the same mistake. It’s something I’ve just never given thought to until now.

Anyone else catch the Four Corners on One Nation? It's pretty much exactly what you'd think. They even have phone recordings of James Ashby and Pauline herself yelling their heads off at people before they were disendorsed as candidates. It's all very clearly a way for the two of them to get that sweet politics money before bailing again, and damn anyone who happens to caught along the way.

Oh and also Malcolm Roberts claiming that gay people and the ABC use nazi mind control.

Been off my antidepressants for a few days due to me getting out of routine/forgetting/ being apathetic about them so it's been... strange. You... don't wanna fuck around with SSRIs. The drop in mood and all things positive is entirely un-fun.

However, I'm back on them now and I had a good night out so hopefully things will be steady again soon. But thanks for the concern.

    John Clark died today.

I'm not even sure what to say other than for an old white guy, he absolutely had his finger on the pulse of the little guy on Australia and to an extent the greater world. His understanding of the issues (particularly the mismanagement of beaurcracy) was second to none. I didn't always find his stuff on Clarke and Dawe funny, but honestly I love the fact that he spent the week with Bryan Dawe and just came up with something that they enjoyed.

John Clarke, thank you for you time.

No!....no. Oh no. Oh......shit. Excuse me while I legit go cry over someone I never met in person for once. :/ God damn it. Those guys were some of the best satirist in the world, period. There won't be anyone like John Clarke again. God damnit.

Edit: I recently came off of SSRIs after being on and off them for years. You have my full sympathies for above. Happy to chat to anyone if they need via pm. :)

genuinely very upset about this. Especially since I feel like now is a time we can ill-afford to lose incisive voices, satirical or otherwise.

So, uh, while Clarke died today, another old white guy also died and for me, it's a bigger deal.

My step grandfather died. About 2hrs ago now. He died peacefully after a long battle with leukaemia, strokes and complications with type 2 diabetes.

My biological grandfather died young (58) (I was 7) so my grandmother remarried. (I was 12 when the wedding happened.)

He and I were, amicable. We never really bonded despite us both trying to over the course of 13 years. To my younger brothers he fulfilled the crotchety old grandfather position, but as I still remember my biological grandfather, and us both having drastically different personalities, we respected, liked and were friendly to each other. Nothing more.

I'm glad he's at peace. He was a good soul despite being a curmudgeon and a grumpy old "back in my day!!" bastard. I didn't get to say goodbye before he died but he understood that, according to my mum who saw him yesterday.

It's my grandmother, who I'm v close to, that I feel for. This is history repeating for her. Even as a 7 year old I recognised her grief and, while she's a cheerful sort, I saw her break down over Christmas with me in the car and I saw yet again her eyes lose their spark. I hope I can be there even more for her now, as she's always been there for me.

Well the cyclone we got a month ago dropped the daytime temperature to 27 and a particularly cool dry season day in August would probably be low 20s.

Tuesday's maximum temperature of 21.9 degrees was Darwin's lowest on record for the wet season and the third lowest for any time of the year. It was also the coldest day in 49 years.

    ----

The mercury reached a low of 18.0 degrees shortly after 8pm amid the day's final drops of rain. This was Darwin's lowest temperature recorded during April for 69 years.

Tomorrow there's two funeral services I've gotta attend, the private family one at the crematorium (BBQ not included) and the big church shindig. Good vibes are appreciated as I work out, considering my AS and all, how to deal with the sheer number of people I'm gonna interact with and figuring out all those social niceties with people in a situation with heightened emotions. On top of that, Grandma has given me the heads up that there'll be a few "dirty old codgers" around, and I seem to attract them 9/10 times so, that fills me with joy and delight. So yes. Tomorrow will be huge and big.
