I think I might be a terrible person because I actually like playing as Tone sometimes (I'm not going to say what level I got her to).
Doesn't do anything flashy but I quite like playing her relatively methodical style from time to time.
If you enjoy playing it, then play it. Tone is part of the game, so it's not like you're cheating. Unfortunately, it won't prevent people from cursing your name. While Tone is the easy way out for a lot of people, I've seen some insanely sick Tone pilots that would blow your mind, so it's not like there isn't any skill involved.
While I agree that being insensitive is an issue, so is being oversensitive.
I meant more how to actually mechanically aim them. Even now I know where to fire them I couldn't put them there if I tried
Sorry if I misunderstood. Learning the arc is really important. I will say that once it hits the ground, it's typically down and won't move. Anything else that it hits (e.g., walls, shields, Titans) does bounce a bit, but not a lot. I still screw it up, so I'm not going to pretend like it's easy.
I'd love it if they improved the canister range just a little... so many times I just can't quite place it where I want.
Also important, you can bounce canisters off of higher walls to drop them behind your opponents/tone shields. On Crashsite especially, there are lots of walls where you can bounce a canister behind terrain that other Titans are using for cover, then shoot the ceiling or wall nearby and the thermite will drop down to ignite the canister. You can effectively light up your opponents that are crowding cover and they won't even see you.
Tone's just the Titan with the lowest skill floor, so pretty much everyone does pretty well with him. Plus there's a fucking bunch of them still, so it often seems like all you die to is tones!
Personally I love fighting them in my Ion. If they want to play pokey then my laser will out poke them all day, and Ion's shield works really well against Tone's attacks.
I managed to rock out a few matches last night and was just having a rough time on the Titan side of it... my Scorch and Ronin games were sub-par to say the least.
Last match I dove in with Tone and murderized everyone... I managed to stay up long enough to drop 6 enemy titans.
It was actually a lot of fun to just sit back plinking away at the other guys instead of worrying about positioning.... I think I might fire Tone up for a while.
Had a really excellent titan vs titan match last night where every single player really knew how to play their titans. Made for an insanely tense match, with all sorts of flanking and rushdowns occurring naturally.
I never realised before how annoying it is to play against a good Ion. Half your health can be gone in a second or two if you get caught out of cover.
I haven't played Tone for a couple weeks now. All Ion all day. I wish that it tracked how many pilots I've killed with Laser Shot, because it feels like A LOT.
Also it is super funny to watch pilots try to use Archer rockets on me. "Go ahead, genius, I'll just let you waste all of your ammo on me as I vortex them at one of your fellow Titans/right back at you".
Also I expect hate mail every time I kill a Legion with his own bullets.

Ok... other (pubby) Titan mains understand how Vortex shield works right?
I've barely played Ion but the matches I've played, people DUMP ammo into that vortex shield. Like a legion putting what seemed like an entire magazine into my shield at close range for me.

The only reason I can think of is that they must be expecting my shield to not last very long or something. I have had legions dump every bullet they can muster into my shield like that shit isn't coming right back in their faces.
If I have full energy and they pop their shield and start pumping bullets into me, I just keep vortex up until their shields drop and then BOY DO THEY LOOK DUMB.
You do have to take a little caution at extremely close ranges. If you release your shield at point blank, it will actually damage you and not the legion. Had that happen twice and won't let it happen again.
Legion really doesn't stand any kind of chance vs an Ion that is somewhat competent.
In fact I'd wager that it might be the most one sided fights in the game.
Any time I play Legion and face an Ion, it's a game of chicken where I keep my turret spinning while the shield is up, then fire when they drop the shield, then spin while the shield is up. Eventually the shield drops and I can unleash, but typically someone else gets involved before the staring contest is done. It's one of the most uneventful moments in the game, lol. "You shoot!" "No you shoot!" "No, dude, you shoot"

Oh man, that happened to me a few times recently when trying to get around their gun shield. I'm guessing it's a bug not a feature...
As an Ion I like the back and forth with a good Legion, each trying to predict when the other will start firing or have their shield up.
Man I had the most ridiculous first to fall with Ronin on Crash Site last night. Before calling in my Titan I think I had maaaybe 4 kills? And a bunch of grunt kills.
Then I got into my Ronin and it was like the entire enemy team either couldn't see me or were attempting to jump directly into my sword. By the time they managed to take my Ronin out I had 16 kills. And judging by the score counters we were only like, 1/4th through the game.
I also managed to sneak up behind a Tone and a Legion hiding behind their shields and blew them both up with nuclear eject. It really does feel good having a brand new titan by the time you hit the ground. And hearing Ash say "tripple kill, pilot" while the world explodes.

I am a baaaad (bad as in bad) Ronin, but my piss poor play is more than made up for by those sort of nukes.
I really need to try the nuke eject kit on Ronin. I just love the double smoke so much though.
Nuke eject kit with Ronin means the battery thefts and grenades in the exhaust port actually helps you
Especially if you pick the double arc wave
And save a dash
I'm honestly worried something is going to get nerfed with Ronin
There is quite a bit of risk
If you misjudge your prey, you're going to be executed
Which ruins everything
That's why you need two arc waves and a spare dash
Ronin is super fragile, and it takes a lot of skill to pull off the successful nuke eject titan kills that get you a new Titan by the time you hit the ground
Waiting in your Ronin for the enemy evac ship to arrive, basking in reaver shots to burn off health, then nuking the whole damn thing... so satisfying.
Which network are we using on Xbox One? I've been in PAX Arcadia, but it's always dead. Found another with 127 members: Penny Arcade.
That's the one I'm on. It might be the wrong one though---in any case, I'm pretty sure the acronym is [PA]?
So is the other one, so I get confoog'ed. I'm going to stay on Penny Arcade [PA] for a while to see if I run across any of you. Would be cool to finally play with some of you.

I'm in the Penny Arcade one, among a few others. I hardly see anyone on there but feel free to drop me a line. GT is HowYouGetAnts. I am very mediocre but damn I'm good at getting assists.

I used to use Tone, but I actually struggled to fight pilots with her.
There's no shame in using whichever Titan you like!

I think my most fist pumping moment with Scorch is getting Gooses with him after killing a Titan. It's like...I can turn it off for the night, now.
