"We wanted a deep, masterful game so we removed a bunch of stuff you'd have to master because the fortnite players in our play test groups wanted to camp and couldn't wrap their heads around moving in three dimensions."
That's not a generous paraphrasing on my part but that's essentially what I got out of what that guy said.
Ok, this looks a little better in action than I was giving it credit for. They really should've not tied it into Titanfall, because people expect certain things from TF, and this doesn't deliver that. It does look like a solid BR game, though. Apparently if you are picking up a new gun to change out the one you currently have, all relevant attachments on your current gun will auto equip to the new gun. That's a huge QoL thing that games like PUBG and Blackout need to ape ASAP.

I want to know how they released this game the same day they announced it, obviously it's got a lot of attention and players, and the servers haven't completely melted down yet. Maybe this evening will be the true test but they seemed really confident in their servers to release like this. And so far they've been stable.
Are companies starting to get a handle on release day server scaling? One can dream...

By removing everything that made Titanfall Titanfall they really shot themselves in the foot, IMHO.
So far my impression is that this is a pretty bog standard BR game, albeit one with a number of very nice QoL improvements. Though those QoL improvements can be easily added to other games and I hope they are.
Titans and parkour would've really made this game standout.

The eurogamer article said they tested both of those and they didn’t work out
Titans specifically they couldn’t get to feel like the power fantasy they should be without ruining the balance they were either way to powerful or way to weak.
I bet a 2 pilots plus one titan player would of been fun tho

They released it in the afternoon on a Monday, a ton of people were at work or school so there was probably way less people slamming into it at once.

The titan part I get, the second part seems like bullshit since that was what made Titanfall multi so much goddamn fun. Like, we already know it works and is awesome.
As to the Titan, I get it, but man like you said I think Titan + 2 pilots would've been real fun. Especially since this game already forces squads anyway.

Haha, how shitty is your reputation that Respawn feels the need to announce "EA had no input in the development of Apex". Bah haha.

Disappointed to hear that Titanfall 3 is effectively dead and what remains of the franchise is being butchered down to a simplified battle royale version of itself, but something like this was the obvious fate the moment Respawn decided to ignore the mountain of dev studio corpses in EA's graveyard and sign on with them anyway.
Honestly, I'm surprised they got to make a whole second game before EA decided to fuck them over, but the rest of this is just normal EA stuff.

I love Titanfall and Titanfall 2, but I also can't ignore that TF2 released in a dumbed down version or that video that discussed how they were making it more like the CoD's etc....or how much weaker the Titans were....or the poorer map design. Their explanations of no parkour in Apex smacked of the same logic.
That being said, I was still hoping Titanfall 3 was in development for the next generation of consoles....

Man, now you guys got me hoping for FrontTitan MissionFall.
Well Titanfall 3 certainly won't be late 2018 as they originally said, but at least it is indeed being made.
Also now they've got the BR genre out of their system, hopefully they can concentrate on a multiplayer mode that actually plays to TFs strengths.
That is to say giant robbit fights and angry squirrel mans.
That kinda goes against what Respawn has gone on record stating. From the article I posted 2 days ago:
Respawn Executive Producer Drew McCoy: "The world thinks we're making Titanfall 3 and we're not—this (Apex Legends) is what we're making."
From their subsequent communications I assume he meant that the game they've been working on and releasing right now is not Titanfall 3, but rather Apex Legends. Titanfall 3 having been on the back burner will begin/resume development at some point in the nearish future.

Looks more Blackout-like than Fortnite (to me).

13/10 game, best BR by far.

Personally I can't stand BRs but if people are enjoying it that's cool.
But I am devastated by the fact that Titanfall 3 is not happening any time soon.

They've made two Titanfall games already so I'm happy to see them try other things too.
This is the one positive thing I can take away from this.
If they can make a Star Wars game with the epicness of the titans from the first, then it can't be anything other than amazing.

I would actually be totally down for that, except the phone game part. Put that in the Xbox Store please! I miss Front Mission

First of all, that actually sounds good. Like Front Mission or something.
Second, I think he meant Apex was the experiment.
It's pretty impressive that they kept Apex Legends quiet until right before launch, and a 2nd game quiet until EA had a bad investor quarter.

Like 2 years ago when I was playing Titanfall 2 almost nonstop, I was taking breaks on the weekend to play front mission 3 for the first time.
It was the most glorious mech filled time of my life.

You're behind. More went down in the stockholder presentation and now they've said more Titanfall.
