Clearly you guys can't read the writing on the wall that the lawsuit will be the death of CIG and this whole project, positive news of the lawsuit is obviously just CIG fabricating information as a hoax to get people to buy more ships for their faked game.
Or something.

Yeah I watched the Lawful Masses stream on the move for dismal.
To summarize this series of odd events;
So Crytek filed a suit that was just a bit more than the the bare minimum required for a court to accept it. Which according to Leonard (an actual copyright attorney) from Lawful Masses smacked of not wanting to go to court and wanting to settle for just the Breech of Contract and not the Copyright suit (because that would have been too easy to defend against). Based on what was in Crytek's suit it looked like the Breech of Contract would've been upheld so Leonard figured CIG would settle since it, in the grand scheme of things, would have been a paltry sum and cheaper than CIG going to court and winning or Crytek going to court and winning.
Now CIG counters with a pretty hefty move for dismally. Not only did they cite numerous other precedents, but also the GLA and referenced the actual contract with Crytek in which it expressly stated that the engine would be used for two games. It also included a shit ton of other stuff that drives home the point.
That said, there was a oddly worded line in the document that might cause CIG some headaches. I forget the particulars, but it was something like citing a piece of law that protects them, but that then sort of inferred they did do something wrong. Leonard thought it a mistake.
Still the whole thing basically calls Crytek's bluff because even if Crytek does keep pushing for a court hearing they will lose more money then they'd gain.
Lawful Masses doesn't have the stream uploaded yet, but when it does I'll post it. Having an actual copyright attorney explain matters makes things, uh, more understandable.
edit- Oh yeah and one fun tidbit from it all: Crytek apparently went back and added the word "intentionally" all over the place in their suit because without that word (and this is one of the reasons law is so fucking weird) there would have literally been no case. It doesn't effect how this plays out I just thought it was a really, really weird thing.

This isn't weird at all. Intentionally doing something is the difference between murder and manslaughter!

Yes, but when you don't list any examples in your complaint it is not the difference between willful and incidental breach, if a breach ever even occured. And with no willful breach they have no case.
The lawful masses guy notes that under contract law intent is irrelevant. (So intentionally breaking contract is the same as accidentally breaking contract) You breached or you didn't. The contract also precludes either side seeking damages against the other, which if upheld ends the case.
He thought it was bananas that a 1.8 mil euro contract specifically disclaimed damages

It should also be noted that this active complaint is the First Amended Complaint from Cry. They filled the amended complain in response to Cig threatening to file a rule 11 motion, which as I understand it is a request for the court to assess for sanctions for misbehavior on the part of Cry's lawyers.
Cry libeled one of Cig's lawyers and another former Cry employee in the original complaint and while they took out the specific libel in the amended complaint they left in some insinuations of what they originally outright stated.

I have been skimming YouKnowWho's twitter feed lately. Yeah, that's precisely what he thinks is going on. That poor goose.
I think today marked the release of the Aegis Vulcan; a ship that can rearm, repair, and refuel other ships by way of four adorable drones.
So there's that.
It looks pretty interesting if you're looking for a support role.
- Computer not super high-end
- Not great at flying
- Don't want to be first to get shot
Yeah, I'm all about support roles! I melted my P-52 and bought the Upgrade from Cutlass Blue to Vulcan. We'll see. I'd rather have one multi-role ship than two, and spend $30 instead of $200.

They also said this weekend is the last chance to "'Super-Size' a Star Citizen starter package and add Squadron 42 for just $15", so I don't know if that means the price is going up or if you won't be able to add it at all. In which case, S42 release date soon???!?!??!?!

Probably just to scare people into buying. Their will probably be block Friday and Christmas deals up untill it's release in 2050.
Random thought, but are the hangars on large civilian carriers basically sci fi RV Parks? Because I can get behind that.
As soon as my Endeavor shows up in a state where I can walk around in it, I'll let ya know. If I had to guess, it'll look like a big open scoop under the hull. As for parking spaces, I'd imagine that if it fits, it sits.

I would fly a Space-AWAC in a heartbeat.
Which got me thinking; does Star Citizen’s ships have different sensor ranges? Are some much more sensitive/longer ranged than others?
AFAIK most all the space sims I played ships typically all shared the same generic sensor distance (more than likely a game limitation). Some games I know allowed you to upgrade sensors, but typically in those cases there wasn’t any reason not to upgrade and it still amounted to all ships having the same sensor range.
Hm, actually thinking on the usual engagement ranges in space sims I suppose there isn’t really a need for far reaching sensors.

There should be different ranges, given we have the Herald...and who knows what exactly the Cutlass Red picks up. Actually that's why I picked up the Cutlass Blue in the first place. I wanted an up-armored AWACS for SAAR or fleet support. We'll see what happens with that compared to what the Artist Vulcan can do. I like helping.
I don't; I went from a 770 to the 980, and I got the latter on sale on the first Prime Day a couple years ago. But I also have a 1440p 110hz monitor and a Vive, and neither are really hitting their full potential on the 980.
They're also not exactly slacking either, so I don't super mind waiting a bit longer... If card prices drop, so does the resell value on my 980 vOv
Ugh, they've pushed back blind-culling again, i.e, the one big feature that will probably make or break whether the PU will ever actually be playable for the majority of people. Wake me when its done I guess, because its totally unplayable on my current PC. I've got a beefy graphics card, but currently that means bugger all if you've got 8 gig of RAM and no SSD because the game is trying to load the entire universe into your local memory.
Very yes. I'd love to be the sensor officer on a big platform, or just a recon pilot. There's a whole bunch of analysis you could do with quantum jumps if they left wakes indicating inbound/outbound vectors that faded over time.
I rambled about it a bit, like I do, with regard to some recon applications:
I'd like to see it be more in-world UI intensive as a balance against doing it in combat, easy for a mutlicrew ship to have the jump officer line it up, hard for a fighter. Pull up the jump computer, punch in a distance, and GO. If we're folding space, rather than going "really fast," this makes more sense than cancelling; as it would give the system a chance to reject your distance if it exceeded fuel.
The chase is the interesting angle here. If you could see the last know position and vector (perhaps the jump computer stores this data to help coordinate formation jumps?), you could extrapolate an exit point at any given distance. So how far did they go? Are they still nearby? If scanner range is 25k, send out scouts at 50k, 100k, 150k; maybe they are!
...and, if the jump computer logs outbound signatures, it should log inbound signatures, and their arrival vectors.
This would establish a need to break your jumps up to conceal your destination and origin, and could setup recon missions
like
"Pirates have been attacking shipping lanes in this sector, several of the most recent attacks have been traced to a rally point [here]. "
Then you lie in wait for the next raiders to pass through to get a vector on their previous jump leg, and start probing it so see if there isn't a Cat or pirate base on the other end.
The ability to save and share Quantum destinations/routes within your org would be useful as well, and a jump computer (or a way better nav computer...) would be ideal to manage it all.
Specialized early warning modules sensors could detect tachyon buildup that precedes inbound vessels of sufficient mass that build as it approaches; still leaving you to guess:
Is it something small 2 seconds away, or something massive 60 seconds away? Have they come to party, or just passing through?
There's a lot of potential there, the data already exists, they just need to let you play with it.
Add in designating targets, keeping an eye on enemy systems, and you could have a whole lot of fun just staring at your screen.
"Bogey 1 is powering up EMP, Red 2 continue close pursuit, and cut power on my mark. Red 3, fall back to 3k range and hold fire until he pops."
I want to put all the equipment from my Hornet Tracker on my Super Hornet
Which makes the most sense since the Super Hornet is the only 2-seater variant (pilot/gunner + RIO). That's kind of why I picked up the Super Hornet was to be my command/control craft coordinating between the other strike fighters that're going to launch from my Endeavor.

Substantial FPS improvements probably won’t come until the object container system, which I think is planned for 3.2.
I did see some people complaining that the flight model still sucks balls for folks with HOTAS and that most people just use mouse/keyboard for flying. I, uh, I'm not really into that, heh.
