I'm curious how Scottish people feel about this portrayal and the memes
I've had second thoughts about this when I went to post a meme in a discord I know has Scottish people in it and went "hrm, this doesn't feel quite right"
Post it. I’m sure they can get a good laugh at themselves.
I know a few definitely would but there's others that I wouldn't be surprised if they're (justifiably) real tired of that shit and that's a way I really don't want to risk pissing people off for a cheap joke.
oh god I've been SRing UM for 3 days to get a shiny terrakion
never did this before, will never do it again
pls send halp
Yeah....shinies ain't worth it, lol
I SR'd for HP Fire Tapu Lele and I will never, ever, ever do it again. It was horrible. The worst part is, I used it for like one team, but I've found since that I generally prefer Psyshock / Moonblast / Protect / Support Move on my Lele...
Is there a chance of black/white pearl/diamond to go digital on 3ds or switch? My kids are pretty upset they can't play those games because finding them is scary.
thanks. guess i'm going to try my luck on ebay. I don't necessarily care if the game is cloned or whatever its called as long as it plays 100% of the way through. I want a legit copy and i don't even mind used in good condition but the prices on these are crazy. I'm just not going to pay 80-100 dollars for a game that old, i can't do it.
you can find a used copy of black/white at most gamestops in their little used DS games case. theres usually a bunch of pokemon games in them. i think theyre usually around $30-50 though.
I swear to god though whoever can make some kind of pokemon game that isn't just a bad clone for the PC will have all of my money. I hate basically stopping playing a game because the online isnt supported anymore or the handhelds just break down over time, like the battery starts bloating or buttons stop working. Or in the case of my 3ds the rubber cover on the joypad thing is loose and basically falling off. I wish more games used the dpad instead of shitty joysticks.

gamestop is a damned if i do, damned if i don't place. Online they have black for 30 which isn't as terrible as some of the mark up son say amazon or walmart or something. However, i just don't believe in their model of buying used games for .25 and reselling them for 50 dollars so i can't support them.
and charging 30 for a used version. so yeah, it's just a personal decision. I should probably try to find someone locally who'd be willing to sell it but it feels like people that have bought those pokemon and held on for this long probably wouldn't want to give them up anyway.
Yeah I think I read something a few months back to the effect that Pokemon GO essentially single-handedly made Niantic one of the top 10 grossing game dev studios worldwide? Which is just nuts. I don't have a source so take it with a grain of salt, but with those numbers...
Did people bitch about the lack of a National Pokedex in Sun/Moon? Because boy howdy, they should have. I mean, it's nice that they include the capability to import Pokemon not in the main game but keeping track of what I need and how much to breed for trades has me resorting to an Excel spreadsheet.
If I remember correctly you can use Pokemon Bank in some capacity to help with that, but if you don't have Pokemon Bank then yeah you've got to do it manually.

Yeah, it's dumb.
I get that they want to not overwhelm people and want to give rewards for completing the Pokedex that aren't bonkers, but...idk, just throw it in there.
I bitched about it quite excessively. Completely destroys any motivation for post game collecting.
Especially in ultra, there are so many obtainable pokemon without any way to track them.
This season’s Special format features Single Battles and prohibits all moves except Metronome. This move causes your Pokémon to use nearly any move, so there’s no telling what attack you will hit your opponent with. Expect plenty of exciting chaos during these battles! Participants will need to visit the Move Deleter in the Hau’oli City Pokémon Center and delete all their Pokémon’s moves except Metronome. Since each has the Ability Pressure, Mewtwo, Dusclops, and Dusknoir will not be allowed in this competition.
In addition, there's the normal Singles, Doubles, and WCS Ladders still running. WCS Ladder also updated to VGC2019:ULTRA Series, meaning that now all megas and items are available to use!

FYI, reviewers etc. have seen the Detective Pikachu movie and it sounds like the review embargo lifts this Friday, but first impressions (basically thumbs up/downs) I saw are positive.

I typically watch Grace Randolph for movie/tv stuff. She works in the industry to a certain extent so a lot of her perspective on movies and movie speculations comes from a more pragmatic "this is how studios operate" kind of place. Which can give you a new point of view on how/why movies are the way they are.
Anyway, she knows of Pokemon but hasn't played the games or anything. She saw Detective Pikachu and loved it. She couldn't go in to details yet (embargo and all), but she did mention that aesthetically it felt, to her, like a mash up between Blade Runner and Roger Rabbit. Which is just a crazy combo and I am now more stupidly excited to see the movie.
Man, last year if you told me I'd be excited to see a live action Pokemon movie based on Detective Pikachu with Canada's Favorite Son Ryan Reynolds doing the voice of Pikachu I'd have. . . I dunno. Ask what drugs you were on and where I could get some I guess.

I wonder when the last shiny Tapu tourney will show up
They announced it on the Pokemon GL. I won't be posting about it here because I am avoiding Detective Pikachu stuff. Don't really mind spoilers but I am also not going to walk right into them, if you know what I mean.
I suspect Detective Pikachu is going to do really well for itself at the Box Office.
Anecdotal I know, but the number of people I know who are really excited to see this but aren't hardcore fans* is surprisingly high. Like pretty much the same group who were stupidly excited for Endgame.
Hopefully it is successful enough to get other movies in the same universe. I know I'd be down to watch a Rocky styled Pokemon Trainer movie if it looked half as good as Detective Pikachu. My God, can you imagine if it really took a page from Rocky and had a climactic Pokemon League fight that was filmed in the same style as a PPV Boxing/UFC match ala Rocky?!
*by this I mean people who have not played the games or partook in other Pokemon related media in years and years but maybe did so when they were young.

I saw Detective Pikachu over the weekend. Delightful movie.
But now I have some questions.
(Movie SPOILERS!!!)
1) Is Team Rocket's Meowth really a human trapped in a Pokemon's body?
2) How could they miss such an obvious opportunity with those parade floats spewing poison gas? Koffing is right there and does that as his thing. And no Koffing float.
3) Is this movie supposed to be in-continuity with the games or the shows? Is there only one Mewtwo, period?
I saw Detective Pikachu twice over the weekend, which is the first time I have seen a movie twice in theaters in a looooong time. Obviously I enjoyed it.

1) Meowth taught himself how to speak Human to impress a lady! Otherwise just a normal Meowth.
2) You are absolutely right.
3) There isn't a strong indication about which continuity it follows- vague references to other regions, as well as a Mewtwo being created in a lab 20 years ago could fit either or both. I'd put my money on Game continuity over Anime continuity (basically I just mean we probably won't meet Ash in a sequel), but it could just as well be its own thing. Continuity is kind of goofy in Pokemon anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

No, for the most part they really embrace this sort of thing. Go for it.
