Part of the Star Wars design aesthetic was for no visible fasteners to be visible. No zippers, buttons or the like.

If she was wearing a bra should be susceptible to a force bra strap snap and nobody wants that to happen.

With Darth Vader around that bra becomes a liability.

Okay like, if the force only affected bras, darth vader would be a total stage magician, "okay for this next trick I'm going to need a bra does anybody have a bra..."

At least they got pockets, the poor Enterprise ensigns had to lug around everything.

What if there was this really bad movie called "Darth Vader: Space Vampire" and it's just darth vader murdering teenagers with telekinetic bra abilities

It'd still be better than Episode 1

    Fucking gutted.

There's about a million things you can say about Carrie. Her searing honesty. Her mental health advocacy. Her acerbic wit. Her autobiographies are must reads. Postcards from the edge is a cracking novel. If you enjoyed the hell out of a movie in the 90s she probably script doctored it. Her Twitter feed was a constant source of delight.

I wanted to be Princess Leia when I was little. I want to be as badass as General Organa when I'm older.

    Fucking. Gutted.

If people haven't seen the TV show Catastrophe and Carrie in it as the totally awful mother of the main guy they should do that, because she's hilarious and the show is wonderful.

Carrie Fisher was great on 30 Rock.

God to lose someone so outwardly and loudly proud about herself having overcome addiction and managing being bi-polar was so amazing to see from such a big name. The fact that she embraced her issues and struggles without being ashamed of what she went through helped so many folks and was such an inspiration.

    This Fucking Year

She was hypoxic for about 15 minutes it seems. Even if she survived she would never have been the same I think. Honestly her chances were not great even when she was stabilized.

Man, she was stable! She was supposed to be ok. :(

Stable has kind of morphed to mean "There's nothing we can actively do in the OR." It's become really kind of a shitty shorthand, especially when people use it like in this case with "Critical but stable." Critical condition is basically you can die at any time, and is inherently not stable.

Yeah, this. I kind of figured, as soon as I first heard the news; since then, I've just been waiting.
Any other year, I might have had hope, but...

I have no basis for this, but I suspected ever since the announcement that she was stable that she was, in fact, brain dead. They didn't want to ruin people's Christmas, and they wanted to give her family and friends time to say their respects.

Carrie Fisher also did a Christmas episode of Qi two years ago and I highly recommend it. She was priceless throughout, and she and Stephen Fry struck up a friendship after it. I believe he ended up being taken by her to the Force Awakens premier in London.

Honestly, this morning I was still getting over the shock about George Michael and composing goodbyes to two of my heroes - Richard Adams and Vera Rubin. I cannot fucking believe Carrie Fisher is gone too. Thinking about the losses from the rest of the year is enough to send me into near meltdown. David Bowie. Alan Rickman. Leonard Cohen. Gene Wilder. Victoria Wood. Ron Glass. Harper Lee. Ronnie Corbett. Caroline Aherne. Prince.

Fuck me. What an awful fucking year.

The great quotes do not stop.

Stable just means "not crashing this instant" where vital signs are more or less consistent, even if they're not terribly good

But we don't know if she was still stable when she passed. She could have had another blockage, she could have gone into a fatal arrhythmia, her family could have just taken her off life support after the doctors gave a poor prognosis

I'm sure we'll know one day, but it's not terribly important right now.
