I can't blame the commentators. The wind got let out of the event's sails when half the runners dropped out. It was early enough they should have all agreed to a restart. Lord knows fucking Tetris was delayed longer than 10 minutes and they still gave that its due time.
This is easily the worst showing of Super Metroid. The couch commentary is non-existent. And two people racing are out at the same time practically (though, I don't blame them because this shit is hard).
At least the event organizers are just rolling with it as a normal run now.
Last GDQ had... lets say issues, with the commentary in super metroid, so i think they are trying to play it a bit oversafe.

Wait, don't you need a certain amount of health to survive the first firing of that beam from Mother Brain? You CAN die to it and I think he's under the threshold for it. O.o

Been a while, but I think it's 300.

One more hit would've gotten him killed, that was way too close.

He did make a safety save in Tourian, so there's that.

Yeah couch is informative and aren't allowing any dead air, but I don't see this being sustainable for 8 hours. Looking forward to seeing how they're going in the morning.
I can't say I'd recommend Samus for a lot of jobs, things tend to explode spectacularly after she shows up. Including but not limited to planets.
I hired her to paint the kitchen, now I have a panoramic view where my dining room used to be.
On the plus side, my planet is still intact so, I guess: win/win?
$100,000 to get the Breath of the Wild run in, be interesting to see if they hit that target. they're already at $31k out of $50k for the Dark Souls run so its not outside the realm of possibility.

Okay, I have to admit, that bit of info about the motorcycle scene in FF7 was interesting. About the enemy AI. Also, hooray for the RNG gods smiling down.

It's Breath of the Wild, of course they're gonna hit it.
With the Dark Souls incentive met, I'd expect the Breath of the Wild incentive to start picking up the pace.

its moving at a decent pace now. just under halfway to being met.
Is over 50k now so it's really moving, fully expect it to hit that 100k mark.

I saw the first half (of estimate time) of Final Fantasy 7, and it was surprisingly good. Not fantastic-mcgreat-sauce. But it was good.
Also we're about to hit 1.2 million raised, which puts SGDQ one million shy of this year's AGDQ, with the last 24 hours remaining as of right now. And that's when donations go into overdrive. I'm gonna call 1.8 million.

yeah just the incentives* left will put it over last years total of $1.3M and that's ignoring the bid wars that are still active. think the next few runs should help build the momentum going into the home straight.
*minus the blindfolded Majora fight, i do not see them getting the required 5M bits.

Interesting "Doctors without Brothers" bit during the Diablo 2 speed run that the runner was asked to stop talking about after like 2 minutes. Kind of awkward.

What was he talking about?

He made a joke about how its doctors without brothers and how important brothers are, then pretended someone corrected him and hes like "oh whoops, nevermind"

I didn't think it was a joke though? Maybe I should watch again and pay more attention but he was really going on at length about his brother. Also most of the run he wasn't really sarcastic or jokey, he was informative and sincere and a cool guy. But I guess it could've been a really weird ill-conceived joke.

Just like he said "And its great I havent died" right before the part in the run you repeatedly die to position the enemies. Thats his humor.

Has the BoTW incentive been reached yet? That's pretty much the only thing left that I'm interested in seeing live.

it just past the $60K mark so still a way to go, but i can't imagine that it wont be met. the Earthbound incentives are a bit stagnant at the moment but i expect they'll pick up as we get closer to that run.

Also that race collapsed into a run super scarily. I would not have been surprised if zoast fell there as well.
