I think playing on 30 year old hardware that had bad cartridge contact even when it was current caused it.

Jhobs sticking the knife in right away in this interview. both runners taking it in their stride though, putting on a good show for the crowd even post-game.

This is the first interview at a GDQ I've given a lot of a shit about.

So yeah, sounds like the second reset was a complete fluke too, the hardware wasn't that close to them.

He only dropped the controller on the floor. If the hardware was that sensitive then I can't blame him.

Yeah, but they should have the consoles on a table.

Tables are generally less stable than the floor for these things.

Yeah that SMB3 race was incredible in many ways

I love that they have that Switch at the $5 mark. It's ridiculous.

Also, love them calling out how arbitrary these run restrictions with "and this is the most arbitrary run we're willing to accept for GDQ".

Edit: And oh yeah, small only means no checkpoints!

Authorblues (on the couch for SMW) bugs me but it's not his fault at all.

Not only does he look like a teacher of mine from way back in highschool, but his mannerisms / speech pattern is almost perfectly aligned with that teacher too. I've had on/off positive then negative phases of 'friendship' with this teacher, both when I was a student and in all these years since.

So yeah. I dunno. He's great at explaining stuff, but I just can't help but react weirdly to him. I feel bad.

Eh you won't like everyone. For me I couldn't watch the run because I've seen too many grand poo world style SMW rom hacks and watching the base game is just boring. But I'm glad other people are enjoying it, not everyone run is everyones cup of tea. Just don't stomp away about it or anything.

Hey guys? Might I ask a favour?

Back during a major election, when dozens or hundreds are watching the debates, the D&D threads have a running request to provide context. If someone happens to be watching and posting at the exact same time, they might understand what "YES THAT WAS SIIIIICK!" means, but as someone coming to it possibly 2-48+ hours later, it lacks any meaning whatsoever. And I'd love context! People posting in her specific runs that they think were awesome is great, it's helping me line up some of the stuff I'm looking forward to checking out.

So, is that a bridge too far to cross? "YES THAT WAS SIIIIICK WHEN THE RUNNER GOT A FRAME PERFECT TRICK IN *INSERT GAME HERE*!" would be much more helpful. I believe someone talked about there being a Discord, which seems like the perfect IRC style venue for instant chat without the mess that is Twitch Chat (a den of scum and villainy indeed..), but here it's so helpful to at least narrow down some of the who/what/when/why/how/etc.

Thank you from a Zergling stuck at work.

It's a romhack, it does romhacky things. To really enjoy those kinds of things you need a lot more charisma than is currently being displayed. Phiggle and Dectilon did a bunch of LPs of Mega Man romhacks that are pretty enjoyable.

oh and there's now an incentive to upgrade the Final Fantasy VI run from glitchless any% to glitchless 100%. the run is already due to be 7 hours long, no idea how much that's gonna jump by if it switches to 100%. they're wanting $100,000 to upgrade it, already got around $7K. i fully expect the incentive to be met.

The run is scheduled to be done by 10pm - 11pm PST last I looked, which is kinda weird because most of these events deliberately run into Sunday hours (before sunrise though). They probably gave those couple hours' worth of buffer for this incentive.

currently its down to end around 7am UK time which seems about on par with other GDQs. imagine a 100% run as to had 2-3 hours onto that, easy.
