I think the best part about this is that there's no lengthy set up delays in between the games. Just "Now we're switching to the next streamer(s), and 3...2...1... GO!".
I know that it would kind of kill the atmosphere at the regularly scheduled GDQ events, but it does make watching them a little easier.

BotW is going to have a lot of categories I feel. I liked what we got to see at SGDQ and I like what we're seeing now. I wonder what they will do for AGDQ if they allow it in.
Yeah, looking at ZeldaSpeedruns.com and Speedrun.com there's Any%, All Main Quests, all Dungeons, 100%, All Shrines, Master Sword% along with separate leaderboards for each of those depending on whether you play on Normal or Master mode and whether or not you use Amiibos, it's nuts

Any% has to do with how much of the game content you do, not how you do it.
In the case of Breath of the Wild, I can understand doing a separate leaderboard for Amiibos. They grant items / functions that are paid for with real-world dollars and not everybody has the same Amiibo. I'm fine with them having a leaderboard for Amiibo use and no Amiibo use; if they hadn't allowed it, I'd be mad. The issue is that people need to throw in money, let alone the time to find a specific amiibo, to participate.
Amiibos were a mistake and I hate Nintendo for it.

For anyone who doesn't know what this run is, it is Portal, completed without picking up the portal gun, and only spawning airboats instead. This categories origins come from an old joke in the portal speedrunning community, being that the command for spawning airboats is not actually locked behind sv_cheats. So, it was joked about using airboats to clip out of the vault early since it, technically, wasn't cheating.
And now, we have this meme run.

Registration for attending AGDQ 2018 has been open for like a day and it's already over 80% full.
I just sent in my application to volunteer on-site and as soon as I hit the submit button my anxiety went into overdrive. I think I'm mostly nervous about being somewhere far from home for over a week.
