PS the Yetee is selling shirts for this and the event shirt itself is a super awesome GDQ logo, just GDQ not GDQ X or anything, I bought it. $12 + $2 for extended sizes, proceeds to the marathon
EDIT: Whoops thought I crossposted and wound up double posting

He "clarified" on his Twitter (I'm not linking it) that he meant "most people," not just his viewers.
I have a morbid curiosity about what about him makes him better than "most people" in his mind. If it has anything to do with his Twitch streaming, lmfao

"I feel like I'm better than most people, so I can't relate to them" is one hell of a statement/worldview.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I think that most terrible people hold that worldview but would never say it out loud.

He's not talking about competing with other Twitch streamers. Stop making excuses for him.
Actually I was considering the entirety of all humanity for maximum leeway
I don't know how twitch (or really any) con selects its panels but no matter how I look at it it's their fault in the end for putting some nobody up on stage, who cares what he has to say about anything?
I also think it's kind of in poor taste to just post him here to laugh at/own him or whatever
this blindfold SOTN run is not going smoothly oh nooo
I think he's got it under control but this is making me anxious to watch
That was about as tightly as my ass has been clenched as it has ever been. I'm glad his couch dropped him just one hint about the menu problem he encountered and he figured it out from there.
Even if it went over estimate, fuck it, they have the time to spare and it was a blindfold run. Bravo.

They just passed $100k! Also the TASBlock just started, they ran SM64 1 key run in 4:21
hoo boy
Turns out RWhiteGoose, the dude behind some of the most viewed speedrun history/info content on YouTube (if you've watched stuff about Goldeneye and/or Mario Kart, you've probably seen his stuff) and multiple time GDQ runner/commentator is a huge Nazi, along with his buddy graviton29 who has a Doom 64 run scheduled for AGDQ 2019 (threads, spoiled for pure uncut misogyny, anti-semitism, slurs, transphobia, and all kinds of awful shit)):

GDQ can go fuck itself. I'll donate my money to PCF not using the GDQ resources, and not watch the stream either. Fuck their hunger for prestige. GDQ wouldn't be where it is without the diverse people who helped organize and run it, and the people in charge are giving them a huge middle finger here.
Seems like they're saying "that's wrong and whoever says things like that will be banned, but there's no evidence it was actually that person saying it."

Their "investigation" was over quickly, and they described the alleged statements as "differing opinions" or something like that, which is a massive red flag for anyone that knows anything about right-wing infestations and propaganda.
No one expected them to go "K, they out" from a screenshot. But the allegations and body of evidence was enough for GDQ to say "This will never be accepted and is well outside of what should be accepted in any setting, but give us a couple of days here". They stumbled on this.

Is that not reasonable?
No because there's plenty of evidence and nazis should not be given the benefit of the doubt in twenty fucking eighteen
While it is not our policy to ban people from our events for differing opinions,
cool cool cool
I don’t know why you stopped quoting after the comma, but it adds pretty important context.
EDIT: To clarify, they explicitly say that the comments, if verified, are eligible for action. So when they later say ‘we don’t ban people for differing opinions’ they are saying that the comments are more than just that.

"After receiving additional information on the situation that was brought to our attention today, we were able to confirm the authenticity of the screenshots we received. As such, the people in question will not be representing us at any GDQ events indefinitely."
That's the ticket, GDQ! Good job.

I might be an Asshole here, but that seems... perfectly reasonable by GDQ? And maybe jumping on them that quickly was a little premature? They acknowledged what they received and that it was unacceptable but given the nature of screenshots did not want to incorrectly enforce action but upon getting corroborating evidence acted swiftly. That all appears to have occurred in the same day, is that seriously not fast enough?
There was a rush to judgement because someone wouldn't rush to judgement, and then after more information became available people's opinions suddenly seemed to change.
Yeah GDQ handled this incredibly well. Total turnaround time from this being brought to their attention, a preliminary investigation completed, additional evidence being received, and firm action taken: about nine hours.
GDQ looked at it and said nothing was being done, so yeah people were miffed they took a handful of hours to investigate.
People wouldn’t have said anything if they had said an investigation was ongoing.
Specifically, they said "based on this evidence, we aren't doing anything, but that is unacceptable behavior so let us know if anyone has anything more concrete."
Putting out a statement that says "Our investigation is finished at this time" after 6 fucking hours is still incredibly stupid and makes me think the only reason they acted was because of the backlash.

Weird how that works.
Seems pretty good to me.
On the one hand it could mean that they're getting their act together and doing more due diligence across the board
On the other, the entire industry and especially the streaming side of games has a lot of issues telling off nazis
