Was looking up Gold demo stuff on the Pokemon Reddit and someone linked to this twitter convo
Age-old debate solved: The beasts were purposely designed to be ambiguous (specifically, Entei's silhouette is meant to seem both dog- and cat-like), but more directly, Entei is based on a lion, Raikou on a tiger, and Suicune on a leopard
I never understood rock and ground being separate until someone on the forum pointed out that rock-types tend to be made of rock, while ground-types tend to be burrowing creatures.
Ground in particular is more the opposite of flying than it is related to rock
Pelipper being a solid and usable pokemon thanks to drizzle makes me very happy. I love wingull and pelipper in spite of how omnipresent they are.
When I first encountered a drizzle Pelliper in Moon it proceeded to beat the crap out of most of my team, promptly earning itself a late-game position on my roster.

I think the Poliwhirl follow sprite is really interesting. This must have been back when they were still pushing Poliwhirl as a series mascot instead of Pikachu. Also it looks like they toyed with having new versions of all the HMs as they're tied to brand new moves with similar names and descriptions, but different power and effects

Wait, pushing Poliwhirl? Shouldn't they have been pushing Poliwag, the adorable one?

12-year-old Jim feels vindicated
Let's see you read a mind with a fly in your face.
Dig and Fly.
Frankly thats one of the only good ones beside those starters
aw shit
Sorry Speed, my bad
I think if field effects like electric terrain erased entry hazards that could be a nice control.
Now I know you'll say " But Tapus" and I have a way around that. Give more pokemon access to those abilities or make them tms
I look forward to them eventually adding the terrain abilities as hidden abilities the way they did weather
I am playing though ORAS this very second and I can confirm the water and trumpets.

First is this post about how the Ruins of Alph were originally based on a Hiroshima monument. I'm not sold on the poster's conclusions, but there's still some fascinating stuff in there
Also Imposter Oak from the TCG was conceived of for the game

And I suppose Imposter Oak ended up being reworked into the Imposter Radio Director in the final game.
It's a nice design, but I still like the Noctowl we actually got more.
The flip is, Cyndaquil is my second least favorite of the fire starters, so I would have been totally down for flambear. Also it looks adorable.
