East is absolutely killing it. Abby is just so FRESH. Like, three people do not need to be watching Alex playing megaman. But I love that they are. I want them to play 4-player games together for hours.
Idk, Ben is kinda just worse Jeff. He proves a very similar energy and comedy styling, but not as good. He's fine, but any time he's on something I just wish it was Jeff instead.
Abby is great though. Abby Alex and Vinny

Poor Ben. I like Ben.
He's no Abby, certainly. That's a very high bar, though.

Worse Jeff is still pretty fuckin' good as far as a video game personality is concerned.

Sure, I don't deny this. I like Ben! I just don't think he fits in west that much.
I like anything that pushes Jeff into talking about old industry weirdness or current semi-legal/insane weirdness, so Ben's providing a valuable service to my eyes.
I find Ben affable enough, it just - erroneously or not - strikes me as kind of a lazy hire. Slightly worse Jeff is fine when it comes to general game knowledge or whatever, but the biggest criticism of West before his hire was that it - collectively - had an overly homogeneous voice, and I don't know what Ben brings to the table to change that.
Waypoint is hit or miss for me. I really like listening to Austin and Rob Zacny talk about pretty much anything, but I can only take Patrick and Danielle in small doses.

I thought the Ben and Abby podcast was hysterical. Hope they do more.

I'm so busy with packing for my move that I haven't been able to consume much GB content at all. As a result, I haven't been able to keep the thread title updated with current, relevant quotes. Sorry about that!
omg vinny hates ready player one as well
and I have never loved him more
I haven't heard what Vinny has to say, but I liked what Jeff had to say about the book last week. It was an OK book (I read through it in a day and had fun), and not as bad as the excerpts people have posted on the internet make it out to be in context of the whole book. And then Ernest Cline's second book was released and its apparent mediocrity/badness kind of dragged RPO down too.
Apparently he's writing Ready Player Two, though. Ugh.

Personally my favorite Ernest Cline work is his spoken word album about heartfelt subjects such as his casually misogynist views of women in porn and how much he wants to fuck "nerd girls" and how he daydreams about killing people in movie theaters.
They got the author of The Da Vinci Code on the Bombcast? I mean, sure, his star has faded a bit, but that's cool. At least he probably won't drop unannounced ending spoilers for a game that has been out for less than a month like Peter Brown.
(I actually like when Peter is on, but that NieR Automata thing really sucked and I'm glad people warned me ahead of time.)

Ugh, glad I haven't had the misfortune of hearing that.

I read the first ten pages of Ready Player One and I physically could not make myself keep going. I know this is a horse long since beaten dead, but man was it the textbook definition of 'not for me'.
Sad to hear the dude is also apparently a shithead.

I certainly wouldn't mind Ben joining Jeff and Jason the next time they discuss fighting game science as it pertains to ranking.
