i have not made any new year's resolutions though i did happen to decide this week to try and be somewhat healthy again for a couple weeks, as that seems to be all it takes to keep my vitals in order without bothering with all that getting strong or losing fat business

There's fancy ones that will boil to temp; I don't have one of those.

I try to pull it off right before it gets to a roiling boil. Open up the top and let some steam out and grind the beans. Prime the press with some hot water and then dump it out. By then it's usually around 195º (you can use an instant read thermometer if you have one to double check (you should have one)) and you're good to go.

And it's the best. One of the few appliances that gets to live on the counter. It's gotta between weekly and daily use for five years and still works great.

I didn't set resolutions, so much as goals and posted those in the Upside Down. I feel like if I can work incrementally towards some goals, and achieve some or all of them, then it will be a good 2017.

the coffee always tastes good so i figure i'm a genius

I make resolutions that don't matter that much. Eating healthy, working out, saving money, and the like are all life changes that need to be embraced and practiced over a lifetime, not year to year. So my resolution is to get my gaming backlog down to single digits and read 20 books, with the stipulation I don't read two sci-fi/fantasy books back to back.

Yeah, I bought my buddy and his wife one of these for their wedding and the temperature control is amazing



It can hold at ~190 or whatever, so if I'm drinking yerba I can just resteep all afternoon without having to mess with a thermos.
