I still have Ian Kershaw's 2 volume biography of ol' Mr Hitler to read one day. And another one about the history of the Reich that is similarly doorstop length.

I will be the stereotypical middle-aged white guy reading Hitler books while his wife looks on in mild concern. "Is that another book about Hitler, dear?"

your collection of signed Frederick Forsyth first editions will be on its way shortly sir

Meanwhile I'd love to get a job in IT.

Still need to work on that CCNA stuff.

The thing about Taco Bell is that even their food publicity shots look absolutely abhorrent.

I put a bid on something on eBay that if I win is like....The steal of the century, even if the models are already painted

I'm currently bidding $50 on a $500 espresso machine. There's something the matter with it that I think will put off most prospective buyers but research indicates is a trivially easy fix.

    *heavy breathing*

I've got a bid out for six dollars, SIX dollars for over $200 of painted miniatures

There's no way I'm gonna win but hooooo boy if I do

Depending on which total you use there are only 14-17 million Jews in the entire world.

We are such a small population the majority of the world will never meet one of us in person.
That's how you keep secret zionist cabal secret.

If the Holocaust had not happened, it is not unreasonable to think that the world jewish population would be somewhere in the 25-28 million range.

so apparently Trumps first order of business as president is taking the weekend off....

the only thing that might save us from Trumps idiocy is his laziness

Pence is running the show. Trump is a figurehead to serve as a distraction and scapegoat. Trump has no idea how to do any of the jobs the office requires of him. Pence does. Trump is basically a mascot.
The President in particular is very much a figurehead- he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. On those criteria Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the most successful Presidents the Galaxy has ever had- he has already spent two of his ten presidential years in prison for fraud.

Yeah I got in a decade ago when you could get your foot in the door with desktop support and work your way up and learn on the job so I have zero certs but if I was getting into the field now I'd definitely need certs.

A lot of recruiters will actually pay for your certs if you get them within a certain time frame.

are YOU on the beer list?

I hate the "dealing with people" part of IT.

IT in general is laid back and fairly easy unless you've got someone breathing down your neck.

I finished reading Ullrich's Hitler biography that covers the period up to 1939 last week. And it kind of felt weird to want talk about most of it. I think it's because you know how 1939-1945 plays out, and 1918-1939 involves a lot of power struggles between different nationalist groups and they're all just terrible people. And it sounds dumb to say this, but Nazis sound like cartoon villains in their direct quotes even when they're not talking Jewish people. Like what I imagine literal Saturday morning cartoon villains would say.

a lot of times when people say that something is too unbelievable or couldn't possibly happen or nobody acts that way or this is so hamfisted etc etc what they actually mean is that they have never encountered anyone with those views or who has said those things within a 20-mile-radius of their middle-class suburb

It's just endless. Like Goebbels (on the radio): “there should be only one opinion, one party and one faith in Germany.” And preceding their power consolidation: “Blood will flow—everyone should know that rebellion will cost people their heads... If you’re going to do it, then do it ruthlessly.”
