Ranked is so horrifically toxic and makes me so damn mad and now I wonder why the hell I bothered coming back.
Overwatch is fun except when people are the worst. There are days I wish this game had a strong PVE side. I know it's never been the intent, but still.

Soooooooo over the last 2 days I've discovered that I am REALLY annoyed when I see Symmetra turrets clustered together. It's such a dumb thing to do! One hit will nuke them all!
And like the Eichenwalde bridge isn't that bad, because you can spread them out reasonably well and you do get heaps of ult charge from them, but I mean if the enemy really wanted to win all they needed was a Pharah to flank left or right over the buildings, fire two rockets at the bridge, and boom all clear, all without actually exposing herself to much enemy fire. And if this has happened too early in the game, the Symmetra is then left with less than her full array of 6 turrets.
One day I'm going to try to make a proper guide for Symmetra turret placement, because I get irrationally angry when I see bad placement, whether it's an ally or an enemy Symm. I hate losing to them, too, which is generally because I'm a healer so I can't take them out as efficiently, but ARGH.
Does anyone know what song starts playing around the 5-minute mark (the piano bit)? It sounds super familiar but I can't place it and it's driving me crazy.

No idea which version is in the vid. I can find a piano version, but it doesn't have the vocals.
Oh shit, that's exactly what was throwing me off. I've heard this song probably a bajillion times but I don't think I've ever heard a piano version of it. Thank god you picked up on it.

Haven't had a chance to play since Hog's hook was updated. Was worried it might be a significant change, but really, all it does is make it so you don't get anymore crazy-ass hooks. And now everybody reliably hooks into the right distance from Roadhog, which is a relatively minor, but still notable, improvement.
And D.Va's armor change is a major improvement. She's still on the tough end of things, but now she can't soak the insane amounts of damage she used to without even having to use her shield.

Tbh I hate Hook 2.0. Too bloody reliable for a Hog to get a free pick every six seconds. A projectile with a hurtbox the size of Sym's alt-fire that all-but-guarantees a one-shot against anything that's not 1) a tank or 2) clutch-bubbled by Zarya. Currently you can't even DM a hook victim with D.Va - but even if you could...
It's good that the ability is now more predictable (and functional), but its new reliability - so different from its past incarnation - renders it too impactful. All it needs is a longer cooldown. I think I might also be okay with just a smaller projectile size - but right now it's like if Hanzo could Scatter or Soldier could Helix every six seconds - abilities that always worked as intended, and recognized as so powerful they would be OP on a shorter cooldown.
That said, it's still entirely possible to juke hooks (at least on Tracer), so maybe I just need time to adjust. But for the moment, I hate hook 2.0.

It actually is a significant change, most heroes that might have survived hook in 1.0 due to the positioning will now nearly always die, as they're now always placed right at the muzzle of hog's gun. It's now nearly always a death sentence for even Meis and Reapers and will nearly flat kill a full health Zarya.

I actually hate nearly every mode except competitive. At least MOST of the time in competitive, people try. There's a ton of throwing and straight up idiocy/trolling in other modes that doesn't even let me practice heroes, because of idiots running in 1v6 (so there's never an actual team fight) or people going AFK/leaving, etc etc.

Yeah they said it would be a nerf but it doesn't feel like one thanks to the slightly closer positioning - they got rid of the bogus hooks but now when you do hook someone, they're fucking gone. Too early to say whether it needs a nerf, probably not, but I think they got the mechanics of the hook right and it might just be the positioning or his point-blank damage that needs a tweak if anything does.

It feels way more fair to me now. At least when people get hooked, it's cuz they failed to position properly against hog.

I know the feeling. Saving a Mercy from a hook with a kneejerk nigh-pointblank Barrage as Pharah pretty much nailed home the "Overwatch is a superhero game" feel for me.
But I know I'll top that eventually, because Overwatch is just awesome.

What's the "right" way to play OW seriously? If I'm playing comp, I will instant lock any support just to broadcast "I'm willing to be a healer", but if there's already 2 healers I'll look to play a tank. However if there's already two tanks I generally move on down to the next tier and think about dps. Now, of someone asks for me to play something I'm not garbage on I'll usually do it.
But last night in QP, I was the only healer and we only had one tank. The tank swapped to a dps after we lost the first point, so I said fuck it and swapped to Mei, because then at least I can tank some and heal myself. Cue a push or two later and someone starts hammering the "need heals button". Someone else finally swapped to Zenny and we held on to win. But is there an objective right answer?
Ps. I don't understand people who go towards the point but don't actually get on it during overtime. Yes Dva, your mech just exploded, but there were four of us around the corner!

As legit as this is, Tracer isn't out of time, I don't think? She was displaced from time for a brief period but I don't think they ever said anything about her being permanently shot forward or backward from her own point in time.

She doesn't age and was also a time ghost for... at least a few years, I think? Before they got her timey-wimeyness under enough control that Winston could do his science thing.

I believe Tracer was one of the first gen Overwatch agents, her experimental jet left her standed out of normal spacetime, and it took until Winston showed up to anchor her in normal time. But let's check... Nope, you're right. Aw, rubbish!

When this happens, pick whatever character you're best with OR whatever character you feel would work well with the weirdo comp you've ended up with. Sometimes pulling my Tracer when we have no tanks and no heals wins the day. Sometimes going Symmetra because all we have are snipers is actually the best way to support that team.
So it depends, but as a blanket statement I would say if you don't feel your group is prepared to work as a team, just pick your best hero and hope for the best - or pull out someone you just want to practice on because fuck it.
Edit: oh and if you feel like you're not getting work done on your best char, watch the killfeed, check to see who on your team is getting on fire, go Mercy and pocket them.

Speaking in purely visual terms, Soldier 76 reminds me of early-90's Snake Eyes (blue-black-white/silver color scheme, with red goggle lenses) mashed up with mid-90's Cyclops and a bit of Cable (white hair, gun)
A post-Iraq war interpretation of Captain America, too. Instead of waving the American flag, his video depicts him fighting in the places where Americans don't give a shit, helping those in need.
Your best bet is probably just reading the wiki. A lot of the info there is in the character bios on the official site, but there's also stuff they released in the news section (why they released the info in a way that's difficult to find, I don't know).
I've seen that and it is hilarious but aside from 'angry grandpas' I don't really get a ton from it
More serious answer is that Bizzard's cinematic videos (on Youtube) and the comics on their site are the two main sources we have for lore. The videos are interesting points/encounters, while the comics give more backstory.
The only other source of lore we have is Gremlin D.va memes, mostly.
For business reasons, I must preserve the outward sign of sanity.
