The anti-vaccine Trump voter I talked with on Facebook a little while ago has just quit her job due to overwhelming despair

She is upset because she is also a Muslim Republican who didn't think Trump would ever really target the Muslim community
it turns out politicians try to do the things they said they would

Hrm, that can't be right, everyone says politicians lie and don't do what they say.

Oh wait that's not how anything works, right.

It is kind of funny seeing peoples reactions to this. Say what you like about Trump and his use of "alternative facts" but he didn't lie about this. He was 100% up front about what his intentions were and a number of the American public large enough to win an election cheered and voted for it. He's simply following up on a campaign pledge people voted for.

An appalling, counter productive, will in all likelihood be judged by history to be a huge mistake, campaign pledge.

it's been...disheartening seeing the response from some of my conservative family

I mean, I married a conservative and republican but it turns out not everyone has the same convictions about what transcends political allegiances I guess

There are some pretty huge differences between conservatives, yeah. Sorry to hear your family's got their head in the sand.

This era, in America and everywhere else, is going to be a case study in how easily perception of reality can now be manipulated

Clemens August von Bogen - Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order
Konrad [III] von Calw - Landmeister of the Livonian Order

    18, November 1473

Negotiations between the two Baltic Orders has fallen through over the ownership of the Province of Mitau. Landmeister Konrad the Third (of the von Calw family) has refused the offer of Hochmeister Clemens August (of the von Bogen family) of allowing the Province of Mitau a greater amount of autonomy and joint control over the territory with the Teutonic Knights. A further offer of granting the Livonian Order the privilege of collecting the taxes of the peoples of the province was also rejected. War again looks certain between the two Baltic Holy Orders with the Livonian Order demanding the return of the Province of Goldingen multiple times during the negotiations. Goldingen and it's constituent townships was forcefully taken by the Teutonic Order in the Teutonic-Livonian War of 1465-67 after reports emerged of corruption among the local officials of the Livonian Order based in Goldingen which resulted in a significant amount of the population turning away from the Catholic faith.

This reporter wonders if the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth will attempt to influence the outcome of this seemingly unavoidable conflict.

Yea, I wonder if he had done this is a way that wasn't incredibly inept if he would be getting as much backlash. Clearly announce ahead of time to avoid the issue with those in transit, maybe actually brief the agencies that were going to enforce this shit, ya know, demonstrated some competence.

the silver lining of the muslim ban is that maybe things did need to get this bad to stoke up enough outrage that a man who got nearly two million less votes than his opponent gets to pull this shit because the political will to enact electoral reform to a representative system doesn't exist

western liberals have been far too complacent for the last decade

i think we need a guy like Trump to show us what happens when we assume we've won all the battles
