That's another thing about FW I really like. I can run lighter heavies without feeling like I'm getting handicapped on tonnage, or getting stuck in the queue for hours at a time. You still get locked into tryhard mode to win invasion matches though. The gates and generators in invasion really require a high hardpoint, long range IS build since there are no 440m Medium Lasers to fall back on. You can easily get picked off just making it to the gates with a brawling build. Having a lot of people with the ability to lay down suppressing fire is key. Even LPL's fall a little short without the old 20-25% energy range quirks.
If it wasnt oosik night I'd uninstall this goddamn game and be done with it.

Yesterday I was pugging in my Ebon Jag (haven't rolled in a clan mech in months and it is indeed ez-mode). We dropped on HPG and have a pretty decent match, however there was a Warhawk having the match of his life. He had gotten 7 kills (though some were kill secures) with one left. The remaining red was up on the wall LRMing until it ran out of ammo then moved to cap. It was intercepted by a streakcrow and the warhawk mentioned that he's never got the 8 kill achievement. Streakcrow then escorts the red to the base, who I can only guess thought he was out of ammo. Red keeps plinking the crow with a small laser as the warhawk comes from across the map. Crow gets cored out just as the warhawk comes into view. Blam achievement secured!

I'm trying to convince myself that I should sell my Kodiaks. I just don't enjoy playing assaults - even the broken OP ones. I just have no idea what I would buy instead either...
On a different track: Been loving my Loyalty Hellbringer. LBX20, 3MPL, ECM.. It's hard to keep my LEEROY in check long enough to get into proper brawl-mode, but when I can, I get almost giddy snapping off components.
On yet another track!: I've been going back and forth between MWO and MW:LL since the rerelease... and I find myself wishing I could run the LL version of the Huggin in MWO. =p

How complex is it to get started in good ol' Tabletop Battle tech? I kind wanna give it a whirl-proper, but I have no idea where/how to get started
Since you like playing your Hellbringer, and not really thrilled about your Kodiaks, have you tried a 4LBX10 KDK-3? It is funny, and you have to just basically hump with the rest of the blob (I should have put some MPLs on it or something) but it is great once the armor starts coming off and you can sandblast the enemy team.
I've run the KDK-3 with the pre-nerf UAC40, as well as a few different smaller/varied UAC/LBX setups - but its still an assult and I dont like being the slow, giant Lurmsponge, and simultaneously I cant ever seem to put myself in the right place to do the 'Oh shit! Kodia*cored*' move.
I feel like I should be replacing them with Ravens or Hunchbacks or... something.

I can't imagine how PGI will ever marginalize the KDK-3. Just like how Battlemasters have survived 3-4 years of shifting meta, the Kodiak is just a good mech. Good hardpoints, max engine cap, good hitboxes, jump jets! Just like the Timberwolf, it will be a contender no matter how many new mechs are released.

You forgot to post our grand match where we actually listened to the PUBs by funneling out on HPG in a stream to the slaughter.
Last night there was another grand battle where we formed Voltron an oosik. It was a match we had on Crimson where the entire team went to check on the saddle with Nips. You all were discussing Padre should shoot Spectrum in the rear or not. I called out the team were coming tunnel side and ran up the hill to the top. BeornK looked like he was covering my six as I called out two more targets coming tunnel (but I later realized he was actually facing the saddle as I got closer). Someone went to check the tunnel and called out that the entire team was coming tunnel yet the discussion of Padre vs. Spectrum continued on. The same Wolfhound that I shot earlier came over the ridge and circled me while I pumped missiles into his CT. Then a Marauder crested the hill and decided that my dual with the Wolfhound was not fair. Then the LRMs started to rain and I couldn't twist enough. The last thing I hear as my mech's core goes critical is if the enemy team was coming saddle and if Padre could or could not shoot Spectrum in the butt.
I say Padre should return to his MG mechs to bring the Padre TickleTM back.
Actually I think next night should be Oosik on Oosik for a bit, or a weekend of hot Oosik on Oosik action.

I started the night in the ERPPC cicada with 4xMG.
Geez, map selection is real boring these days. Crimson Strait, Tourmaline Desert. My multiplier is up to 8x. I'm getting lots of practice at Domination on Crimson Strait.
I finally had one match not on those two maps. Canyon where I dueled and beat a slightly used PPC/Gauss Kodiak 1v1 in my 2N. Unfortunately I couldn't carry my team to a win with my red CT afterwards. I guess a lance worth of kills wasn't good enough. My KDR slowly continues to rise back to 1.5 tho. I really like being back in high framerate fps land. Only problem is I see each individual frame on 60hz monitors now.

Sorry I couldn't make it last night, folks. Work has been really weird this week and my hours of availability have been quite strange.
