So... Are we going to need a new thread for the new BT game?

Alright! First match done, recorded, and on its way into THE CLOUD. It says it'll be done uploading in about an hour, so I'll post a link then.
First impressions:
1. Goddamn it's pretty.
2. Reading the manual is for sissies.
2. Holy crap there's a lot going on in-game.
3. ...maybe I should have read the manual.
4. I cored out a cockpit with an AC/20 round, so all is right with the world.
5. The mechanic that lets you fire small weapons alongside physical attacks looks mean.
6. The movement ranges and turning radii seemed a little too flexible, until suddenly they weren't. So, that's probably fine.
7. I twice got Physical-Attacked-From-A-Jump (DFA! DFA! DFA!). Both hit, and neither time was fun. So clearly, I need to do this to the other guy next time.
8. I won on the back of an Atlas that just would not fucking quit. My first lance was Locust, Centurion, Quickdraw, Atlas, versus a team of Centurion, Vindicator, Orion, and Awesome.
And pour one out for @DaMoonRulz - No Dragon in this build. I tried! I searched the whole unit list. Clearly, this needs to be reported via every Survey we submit.

Goddamnit nips I look for your icon in order to find the thread. Now that you changed it I was staring at my screen in horror and confusion .

Motherfucker, this Atlas did dirt. It was a two-on-one (nearly a three-on, if it hadn't killed one hostile the same turn as I lost my 3rd), and he fucking tanked everything, obliterated the Vindicator, and eventually got into a protracted punching match with the Awesome. It was such a close match, as to be absurd, but that Big Daddy Fatty carried it on his broad, broad shoulders.
Yeah...once again, RNG decides to fuck me over hard. Three separate 85% melee attacks, as well as one 90% DFA attack all missed. I have a feeling when the game launches fully, I'm going to absolutely need to savescum like crazy.
And yeah, also critted an untouched SRM ammo store on an Orion, and nothing happened.

Ammo crits work differently in the Battletech game. Like the stability bar, you can't fail catastrophically on the first hit. The first hit disables the ammo turning it into dead weight. You need a second hit to set it off.

Hmm...now I'm wondering if it's possible (unlikely though it may be) to double-crit on one attack (from an alpha-strike or other multi-weapon volley).

Think this thread will slowly become the BT thread.
It's basically gonna be the exact same people posting in an HBS Battletech thread anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I don't see an issue with this being turned into an Oosik Irregular HQ one stop shop as long as other people are cool with it.

And, with my luck in probability rolls (something I've learned from my XCOM/X-COM days), I will become the new Buttcleft in this brave new HBS Battletech world.

We shall construct a temple to Morton when you ascend and become the second pillar of salt. :hydra:
So fun fact: if you get your right arm blown off, and make a physical attack, the game kinda... Has to think a bit. Took forever for my Cent to punch the other dude after losing its arm.
Also, Screenshots! Reading the manual and it takes UI less 4k screenies!
The beta is Awesome! Gimme multiplayer for that hot Oosik on Oosik action.
Edit:
Jenners are just as fearsome as they are in tabletop, pretty easy to delay action and get behind someone and then take the next turn. Nice little assassins.
I just started playing MWO again after not playing for eleventy billion years, like, before clan mechs were in, and now everything is different and there are like four different kinds of xp and what mechs are even good now and oh god what do I do? Looks like I chose a bad time to stumble in here and ask for help, what with the whole Battletech thing though!
I've got 11M C-Bills burning a hole in my pocket, and as all I've got in my hangar is a Hunchback, I'd like to spend it on something bigger and stompier, but I have no idea what's any good any more. I'm leaning towards a heavy/assault that's heavy on autocannons as something a bit different from my Hunchback-4SP which is all lasers + missiles, but inevitably all of the chassis I want are only buyable with pay-us-cash-monies currency.

My advice: do the academy if you haven't already, there's a part at the end where you can mess around with a few different mechs and test your firing skills and what not.
After that, play some matches in your Hunchie and the trial mechs, figure out what you like and what you're good at.

FYI, we're supposed to have a time skip in a few months. So more changes.
That Jager round went pretty much as expected with the AI not knowing better than to trickle into a kill box like the one I had set up. The last mech standing was their Atlas and I got all cheeky and started to do some good ole fashioned Atlas bowling which worked great for a few rounds and then the Atlas managed to get up, turn around, and punched half of my Hunchback off. My trolololo laughter was abruptly cut short after watching the entire right side of a pretty fresh Hunchy just vanish. The next few rounds consisted of me mostly going FUCK FUCK FUCK KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT.
EDIT: Also I really, really like that missiles in BT do stability damage. They may do spread out damage but they're still scary effective since something puking LRMs can cause repeated knockdowns and an SRM brawler can bully the shit out of targets. The range banding on the weapons in general is also done really well with ACs not being all range chainsaws and requiring some though to use (though at range they really do cut shit down in a hurry).
The downside is it makes me /headdesk when I think of how simple and obvious this sort of stuff is and yet... *glares at PGI*.
EDIT EDIT: Also, having to actually show some measure of control with the HBK Deathstar was incredibly refreshing. It's amazing how well heat works as a balancing mechanic when heat sinks don't add to your heat capacity. *glares some fucking more*

I'm still planning on logging into MWO around 6PM PST to see if there will be anybody who wants to shoot and run at the same time.

I may be down so long as I can get all my camping junk packed and ready to go in a timely fashion this evening.
I punched a dude with a Battlemaster which knocked him down, then my MGs ripped him apart. It was nice.
I've had them take between 15 and 45 minutes.
An atlas..thats useful?
Does not compute..does not compute..
and the poor enemy commando didnt even last to round 3. cored him out in 1 volley.

My mic audio is pretty low vs. the game audio, so I need to figure that out.
It's the Backer Beta so if you want in you need to back the game at the Mechwarrior tier: https://battletech.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Interested to see how things have evolved since I last played at PAX
Yep. Had to bump it up higher

Beti said he's gonna be on. I'm going to try to be on later if I can.

Think of it as Special Guest: Btech

You are a man after my own heart :heartbeat:
Quick impressions of BT Beta: Commandos are fun to stomp on when they tip over. Atlas is the punch-king. Missiles are very nice.

Locust shows up to scout for the AI.
Shoot ppc at the locust.
Locust explodes from a single CT hit.
I laugh.
It was just so perfect.
