The upgrades make a huge change for the characters. Unibeam sucks at first, but once you add the 2 customization abilities it hits like a truck and recharges fast as fuck.

I had so much trouble as Widow in her introductory chapter and I'm interested in how much better upgrades and not terrible villains makes her.

Her having to fight two Adaptoids is brutal.

Widow's upgrade that changes the dart to a punch is waaaaay better than the dart that enemies just walk out of.

Man that would make it a way more useful power.

Honestly my biggest complaint with Cap is traveling around the area with him sucks compared to literally everyone else.

I haven't noticed enemies running out of the dart, but I tend to fire it directly at them whenever I can.

I also have 3 darts, and they effectively immediately generate a takedown.

I personally find her darts one of her strongest abilities at least with how much damage and stun/stagger it generates.

The punch is pretty much a cone-shaped AOE that slaps mostly anything it hits way the heck away.

I have not had much chance to play around with the punch option as my challenge card keeps hitting me with the "kill flying enemies with the dart" option and its easier to just swap it to the sticky version and tag 3 drones.

If you grab all the stun options in her tree then BW is pretty broken, just chaining takedowns and overcharging like crazy.

So last night I installed Nvidia RTX so I could use Zoom better, and since then (this might not be the cause of it, of course) my game has been freezing/crashing basically before I can complete a mission. I turned down settings, still crashed, updated drivers, still crashed, turned game on windowed mode, still crashed. I only even run RTX on my microphone, but could that be causing the crashes?

I disabled RTX and went a mission without crashing, so maybe that is the issue? Fuckin weird.

Takedowns really do seem key for Widow and Cap. Use ultimate, create takedown, get orbs, chain takedowns into new ultimate, repeat forever.

It almost makes me forget the joy of Giant Kamala, if only because Takedowns are hands off and at their frequency may become annoying.

hidden in her skill tree is one to gain 15% more charge on every attack, that helps a lot.
    as does abusing stealth.

BW is one of the characters that benefits most from the skill tree, until you get a bunch of loadbearing skills she is lackluster and once you get them you turn into a monster.

I have maxed out levels on Thor, widow is not far behind and the others are around 25-30ish

So far Thor and Widow are my favorites simply because of how strong they are.
Kamala started decent and remains so as I level her.
Ironman started super weak and is steadily improving, at lvl30 I feel he is in a pretty good place.
Hulk is getting better but his limited mobility/speed and super swingy feeling of power make him a hard recommend.
Cap is my least played, similar to hulk its his mobility dragging him down for me.

There's also a skill tree option for Takedowns to increase intrinsic meter. I'm already doing that so often that picking that up was a no brainer.

The one and only thing I don't like about Widow is that her grapple has a different (shorter) range than Kamala's grab and it trips me up every single time.

Yeah I unlocked some new skills on Thor, one lets your lightning blast have 3 charges, it super charges your odin meter and then you can do more damage when your odin meter is super charged. Hulk better eat a lot of beans become someone needs to bring some thunder with all this lightning!

If you get the challenge for Thor to "kill 5 enemies while Warrior's Fury is active", do yourself a favor and reroll that crap. That has to be the worst challenge in any game ever. It's maddeningly inconsistent. It seems like you can only get credit if the actual blast (or arc damage for its VERY short duration) kills them, which is unlikely since even the weakest fodder aren't damaged a lot by it. If you try and use it and then kill 10 enemies a second later with the giant lightning blast ult, you don't get credit.
Except that one time I think I DID get credit.
Regardless, it sucks. I was just going through a ton of missions for several hours, not counting the several times I've played him during the week, and I've only gotten 20 out of 60. Sure, it's a weekly, but for the amount of specific effort I made to progress it, it's not worth the headache.

If anyone knows any tricks to that one though, do share.

HARM room, the first generic non-hero specific one.
drop the difficulty if you have to. then wait for the first wave to run up to you and use the heroic. light melee anything that survives.
then pause and reload the checkpoint. (you still keep progress on the challenge)

its how I have been handling a few of the more annoying challenges

That's exactly what I was doing for the last hour. I progressed it by 3 in that whole time =p. Though I did gain like 8 levels, so not a total loss.

I tried it light melee a few times and it didn't count, which made me think either it's buggy (it really should count no matter how you defeat them if it's active) or only the lightning arcs were counting.

Preacher - I saw people complaining about that one and having to trick the game to get it to count.

I hope they polish some of this stuff up!

What about all the daily challenges and what not I missed?

Do I still have time to do the weekly challenge without spending every second over the next day grinding or whatever?

I guess I should go finish the first part of the single player, at least... I just bought the game around 6PM and had a 3 hour Civ VI session with friends after that so I'm not far in yet.

I wouldn't worry too much about the challenges. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that the battlepasses challenge cards don't expire. So unlike other games you don't have to worry about finishing the card before some arbitrary date. You can just take it at your own pace.

If you're gonna jump on the Kamala train for multiplayer I'd do it pretty quick because people are gonna start finding out that she is straight busted. Both in the ridiculously powerful and also has bugs associated with her kit ways. Near perma-Embiggen that can either be set up to stun everything or deal tons of damage. Heal spam noone ever dies.

The main campaign is pretty on rails for the most part, especially the intro. Some slow walking, some attempts at stealth, but it mostly throws that stuff out (except walking around the helicarrier...) before too long and becomes proper action-y. The way it handles tutorials is also a bit weird, but mostly just do as it says and it won't hold you hostage too long.

There's still some jank throughout though.

It’s weird I hardly ever get like the grab prompt, it says it comes up on low health but the way the damage works in most combos enemies never have the right amount before I kill them

Also this has a weird glitch opening it up on Xbox, the overlay hangs at the start unless you quickly open and close the Xbox menu

Just had my first crash during a mission, but I’m like 10 hours in so not too bad

Overall I’m loving the story and characters, the combat is just ok, wish the frame rate was 60

Aside from that just another example of a game that didn’t need the destiny style structure, and should have spent that focus on the combat.

Is there any way to quickly access the vendors? Or do you have to do a tedious slow jog to them from across the carrier every time?

The grab option can come up regardless of health level, it's their stun bar (the one below health) that has to be full before it will give you the option. I found that it was rare for me as well early on, but as you get passives / gear that increase your stun damage, it becomes more common. You'll start ending up with rooms full of enemies you can use a takedown on and just don't have the time to get through them all =p.

I don’t know what it is about the combat and visuals but I find it very hard to concentrate visually in this game. Something to do with the hdr and the low frame rate on consoles I think

Even changing it to performance mode on Xbox x doesn’t make things better, the frame rate is overall faster but more unstable, and the visual drop isn’t worth it

Any news what they plan to do for the new gen consoles? I feel like it could really use their headroom

Vendors are a slow jog BUT on the helicarrier once you're done at the vendor you can go to the start menu and return to checkpoint to teleport back to the war table instead of running back. The other outpost is a little less obnoxious.

My hope is that this next outpost they're adding just has everything you need in an accessible spot for both factions.

re: next gen consoles the game will definitely work better, they're planning improvements and there's no upgrade cost or anything like that. I believe they said there'll still be performance and quality modes on next gen but should have overall better quality AND more stable fps.

As someone who went into this game only knowing the movies, I did not expect khamala to be so awesome and to fall in love with her character and fighting. Not that the others are slouches, but it’s a nice surprise. There’s something especially cathartic about being giant and doing the stretchy aimed slap to a tiny guy sending them flying

I wish there was more enemy faction variety, unless there’s more later on, like I do actually hope the game does well and we get like expansions where we can fight like Thor baddies in space and such, something more exotic than the fairly generic stuff so far

Also Man is black widow supposed to be super tough at first? Cos I’ve died more in this first big battle with her than any point in the game up until now

Edit: getting the hang of her, she’s awesome, but holy shit that fight against like the 3 adaptoids, so may laser beams
