Yeah I think the problem is that Lynn and tiki are just too sloooow, so I'm constantly getting picked off by these damned takumis and Morgan's before I can reach them.
I think you mean Robins, unless I've had worse luck with the Gacha than I thought. And what you want to do is place your units so the enemy doesn't get first strike. Easier said than done on some maps, but still workable most of the time.
2->3* is 200 feathers, 3->4 is 2k. You have 10k from the one time reward today. You can afford to promote a character or two if you really need to
But at the rate you can obtain feathers, that's a significant investment and severely delays any shot of getting anything up to 5 stars. Which again throws this back to the current best 5 stars being ludicrously overpowered, and having no 1-4 star version you can get to promote to 5 star. Which wouldn't be so bad if one of the very limited amout of things you can do in this game is straight PVP with no rarity/level balancing.
I did not pull any good healers/support. For every character I'm checking, including Lissa, they only get the actually good skills at 4+ star level. So trying to use a 3 star I pulled is a bad idea, and using the 2 star daily drops is an even worse idea.
As far as I can tell nothing I pulled has any special abilities. They're all straight bonuses to attack/def/hp/etc.
And I have no clue how Arena matches you up, but I don't see any way I can have a team 25-28 with three 4 stars and go up against a team of all 5 stars at level 40 if there's any sort of matchmaking process involved.
Lissa is excellent at 3 star and was the healer on my team for most of my hard mode run and arena.
She gets even better at 4 star but don't be afraid to just run her as a three star, just don't upgrade her attack to the one that does less damage but reduces their movement, keep the damage.
But switching down to something of lower power isn't going to be much help when the entire problem is going up against teams full of higher powered units...
I guess I can start a B team of level 1 guys to grind up for fun in the training area to spend stamina on something while stuck? But then I'll just wind up with a team of level 25 3 star things that I also can't beat the harder levels or PVP with. On to the C team then, I guess?
PVP should be getting scaled to your level, you shouldn't be facing off against PVP teams with level 40s if your guys are only mid 20s.
It's possible I suppose, if they have one high level unit and a bunch of level ones.

3* Cecilia. Fucking yaaawn, I already got her from the event today.

5* Azura! Fucking sweet that just made this dumb pull amazing!

All I can tell you is what I saw. I don't have any more arena fights left or I'd take a screenshot.
I made a team of four 2 star guys, leveled them all to 10, and took them to the level 10 training area.
They have all been annihilated five times in a row now.
So I'm definitely not seeing how this is supposed to work out.
A team of only 2-star characters is gonna have a tough time against enemies of the same level. It's not impossible, but you need to play strategically and make good use of skills and the weapon triangle.
It's safer to have them fight against lower level enemies, or take a along one or two higher ranked characters.

Have you spent any orbs upgrading your castle so your characters gain more experience? It's relatively cheap to get it up to 40/60% bonus experience and makes leveling less of a chore.
Check the units you'll be facing in the training grounds, if they're a bad combination for you do a lower level one to reset them.
Two star characters are inherently limited by their access to abilities, 3 stars is the baseline for weapon upgrades and skills. It's only 200 feathers to upgrade a two star to a three star, so
Don't bother with Alphonse, definitely try sticking with Sharena, she's worth upgrading to three stars for sure, due to her buffing abilities, good growths and tankiness as a lance wielding character.
Can you give me a list of the characters you own? I'll take a look and see if I can make any suggestions.
Edit: Also try and unlock Olivia in today's special map if you can as well.

Except that you get approximately 2 exp for killing guys lower level than you. I had one of them level up twice before the others, and when I went back to the same level 10 guys again that one was now getting nothing for killing them. At least that lets the others catch up...?

My castle is already maxed out, once I realize how little experience things give. It hasn't really helped....I thought killing the things that give you a level would now give you two, but it's mostly just making those things that give you 1 exp give 2 instead.
You have to level them to 20 to upgrade them to 3 stars. And surviving that long seems fairly impossible.
I was using Hawkeye/Stahl/Cordelia/Setsuna until they stopped being able to kill anything. I switched to leveling up Donnel/Hana/Florina/Lissa to kill time, since I have nothing else to do in this game now.

You get more experience if the enemies are closer in level to your character; killing a level 9 enemy with a level 10 character should still give you decent experience.
If you don't wanna use the training tower, just use shards to level up your units.
I have the 60% castle upgrade, and gaining the first 10-15 levels has been pretty easy. Just try to stick to the weapon triangle when possible, and don't go more than 3 levels difference. Generally I'd go for higher levels with weapon advantage, and lower when without.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
Also here's a decent tip most people probably don't realize. If you got a tank or otherwise beefy unit that can take a hit, but are worried that they'll steal kills, you can actually unequip their weapon in the skills menu. It's only really useful for leveling ranged characters, but it certainly helps to have a meat shield that won't gobble exp.

Okay, so I have definately seen Hawkeye, Cordelia, Hana and Lissa do work in arena, even just at level four, so I would recommend starting there since that gives you a balanced team. Gunter (if you recruited him yesterday) is certainly an upper tier character as well at higher levels if you'd rather him to Hawkeye. I'm assuming that all these guys we're talking about are three stars to start with. Sharena is an acceptable substitute to Cordelia as well.
Don't forget your characters are earning SP on every level up or action in combat to buy new skills. Also that if one of your characters dies during a mission, they lose any experience and SP they gained that mission.
Lissa will level up just healing your dudes, so leave her be for now supporting the team. Buy Reconcile, then Assault then Imbue.
Hawkeye buy weapon upgrades first, then Deathblow 1, then Threaten Attack, then keep leveling off those as high as you can get them.
Cordelia again, weapon upgrades first, then her Triangle ability. If you're close to getting her to 20, don't worry about pass immediately, hold onto the SP points until she hits 4 stars.
Hana is a glass cannon, she's got no defense but I've had a level four Hana one shot my Hector, so she's absolutely viable. Start by grabbing the first rank of Life and Death, then get her buffing ability, then go back to getting Life or Death.
Hawkeye has high life and defense, so use him to bait opposing units into range, then pull back, heal him with Lissa and then pick them apart with whichever of your characters has advantage over them.
How far are you in the story? I just checked and it looks like level 10 characters should be suitable all the way up to mission 3 of chapter five. If you haven't gotten that far yet I would look at continuing Story mode to continue getting orbs and getting more opportunities to go for new characters.
If you're having trouble in training mode, just set it to auto battle and let it take the moves for you until you can see how to let your characters interact with each other.
As Wolfman said, go a level or two higher if you have the advantage as far as weapon's triangle goes, or a level lower if you don't. If you're only earning one or two experience a fight, then you are absolutely doing too low a Training Tower mission.
My main team is all 4-5 star guys and level 28 or so. I can't finish the story because the last mission just seems to be artifically boosted way higher than the rest of story mode was.
Hawkeye was useful up until this point, where he now just immediately dies to any magic and can no longer one shot everything, and does almost no damage to the tank enemies.
My choices in the training area will usually be something like level 5 or level 10. When everyone is level 8. So it's either get no experience for killing everything or get no experience because I died.
Because my good team is stuck at 28 and can no longer level up because I can't kill anything with them. All I could do is clear out low level Hard missions for the orbs, and that seems like a waste. There's no events to grind or any other way to power them up, get new characters or get promotion feathers.

I pulled Lyn at 5 star, but then every thing else has been 3 or 4 star for the next three pulls. Should I reroll? I still don't have a healer.

Doing level 5/10 training missions isn't going to get you anywhere. Beating chapter six should have given you the ability to fight enemies in the low 20s, and that's what you should be focusing on for your team in order to continue leveling them.
Failing that, ditch Stahl for Hana and Setsuna for Lissa and start on hard mode. Hana can upgrade her weapon to one that is extremely effective against armoured units, which will help you deal with knights. Even if it means you're just blazing through that, you're earning orbs for more characters.
Otherwise you are literally just butting your head against a wall for no reason.
Mainly gives a boost to the Tellius characters, which see Nephenee and Mia climb while Ike becomes the top vote getter. Meanwhile, Soren and the Black Knight find themselves on the board, while Marth jumps over Chrom and Caeda (5496+1747=7243) falls just shy of sneaking into the top 20. I was unsure of combining Tiki's and Anna's but figured what the hell, along with old Eliwood and Hector. To be honest, I was kind of hoping Hector's magnificent beard would propel him into 2nd - alas! The additional 316 votes for Eliwood do move him ahead of Joshua and Niles, though. And anyone facepalming about Nowi in the top ten can feel better about her sliding down to 14th.
You left out vote merging for Owain, Severa, and Inigo. Seems a bit unfair when you did it for Anna and Tiki.
Fair enough. For what it's worth (in spoilers to minimise):
Male
1. Ike (33871+17684=51555)
2. Roy (28982)
3. Hector (26557+815=27372)
4. Marth (15877+8670=24547)
5. Chrom (23803)
6. Ephraim (14908)
7. Robin (14149)
8. Takumi (12662)
9. Leo (12175)
10. Henry (12131)
11. Dorcas (12083)
12. Owain/Odin (8383+3256=11639)
13. Donnel (10479)
14. Black Knight (5317+4878=10195)
15. Lon'qu (10002)
16. Soren (6248+3470=9718)
17. Gaius (9465)
18. Inigo/Laslow (4599+4287=8886)
19. Eliwood (8393+316=8709)
20. Niles (8703)
Owain/Odin up from 20th to 12th, while Inigo/Laslow and Severa/Selena come in at 18th and 14th - bumping Joshua and Sakura off their respective top 20s. Ricken/Hayato (1235+644=1879) is well out.
I'm not sure what to do with Cordelia/Caeldori (14362+3149=17511, up to 6th), Gaius/Asugi (9465+823=10288, up to 13th), and Tharja/Rhajat (29540+2640=32180, no change) as while they're basically the same characters they are played off as pseudo-reincarnations, unlike the other four (eight?).
Also, adding Masked Marth to Lucina moves her closer to Lyn for 1st.
For everyone that keeps doing pulls over and over again, I would recommend waiting until the banners change. These sorts of games thrive on making you spend your currency and then follow things up with a great banner that makes you want to spend money.
Like, Hector is easily the best character to the community right now, so I'd expect him as a focus when the banners change and you'll want to be able to pull for him.
Also, I guess you'll want to be able to pull for whatever the special versions of these poll characters are? I guess those are pulls? I'm not clear on that.
I pulled Lyn at 5 star, but then every thing else has been 3 or 4 star for the next three pulls. Should I reroll? I still don't have a healer.
5-star Lyn is really good, definitely keep her. You shouldn't really expect to get too many 5-star characters, there's only a 6% chance to pull one after all.
Did you get Lissa from one of the special maps (yesterday I think?) Get her to 3 stars and you're good to go.

I started when it was some old guy in the special dungeons.
So, i have a 4* camilia i want to eventually upgrade to 5*. It appears that i need to get her to level 20 before i can do that, but when i make her a 5* does her level go back to 1?
So my first two pulls only resulted in my getting some okay/average? heroes so I formed the following team which is currently working on Chapter 8 normal
4* Cain
4* Abel
3* Lissa
2* Anna / 3* Niles
The matches are difficult but winnable and generally revolve around finding a chokepoint and using Lissa to heal through the dmg. The major danger are armored green foot units which my team except Lissa folds too. But as @Kelor noted, don't use the upgraded dmg attack.
Last night I had a great pull, and now have a 5* Lyn, 4* Fae, 4*Nino, and 4*Felicia. So now working on leveling those up so my roster has some depth. I just need to find another 4* blue to fill out my roster, and thinking about upgrading Niles/Anna.
My current arena/story Varsity team:
5* Marth
4* CorrinF
5* Fae
4* Lissa
I finally pulled 5* Takumi last night. My first thought is to have him replace CorrinF to reduce vulnerability to Falchion wielders. However, both Marth and Fae can self heal so replacing Lissa for increased offense could be optimal. Decisions...
Black lives matter.

So I wonder what the alternate art versions will be like. Exactly the same stats and skills but with a new art? Ike would be new of course but maybe a Mani Katti version of Lyn that has armor slayer? Killing Edge Awakening Sword Master Lyn? Rienfleche (brave bow ++) Lyn?
So my main account was having horrible draw luck and ended up with just Roy in the A list after 4 or 5 5 pulls.
I love Lynn and re-rolled and my alt account now has 2 Lynns, a Camilla, and a MRobin (only 3 star). I'm lacking a solid healer on the re-roll account but I can't see a reason to go back to the old account now.
I do have Felicia and Azama for healers on the re-roll account also. Might have to see if they can be grown into decent healers.
So, i have a 4* camilia i want to eventually upgrade to 5*. It appears that i need to get her to level 20 before i can do that, but when i make her a 5* does her level go back to 1?
Related question about promotion, does anything carry over (stats and/or skills?) after you promote? Or alternatively, is there any reason to level beyond 20 before promoting?

Skills and skill points carry over. I'm not sure if having a higher level / higher stats also has an effect, I've seen conflicting reports on that.

Skills you keep, stats you don't. No reason to wait after hitting 20.

Kind of want to play this but outside of Awakening and Fates, not going to have any idea who the hell any of these characters.
Man..I really need to go back and dig up some of the older GBA and gamecube stuff off of Amazon.
I'm probably dreaming...but is there anything legally keeping Nintendo from including characters from the Advanced Wars series of games? Sure its not FE, but Its the same kind of game, the story has them linking portals to other worlds, so it COULD happen.

So, I realize its not a team of 3*'s or anything, and I'm sure some of it is luck, but just hit the 3,000 rewards tier in arena with 4* Olivia, CorrinF, Camilla, and 5* Robin. Even managed to beat a team of 3 Marth's and an Effie (barely).

Legally? No, Nintendo owns both franchises. Will they actually? No chance in hell. The two are not really related at all other than being turn based.

I know they're different companies and all that, but just looking at FFBE where they had Ariana Grande appear in the game, I don't know if you can necessarily rule it out. Sure, I'd still say its extremely unlikely, but /shrug.

They're even both owned by the same sub-division of Nintendo, Intelligent Systems. But... yeah, this game is about Fire Emblem characters, of which there are a veritable boatload of. Maybe in a few years when that well is dry they might go the way of crossovers? I wouldn't hold my breath in the meantime.

Like, Hector is easily the best character to the community right now, so I'd expect him as a focus when the banners change and you'll want to be able to pull for him.
Also, I guess you'll want to be able to pull for whatever the special versions of these poll characters are? I guess those are pulls? I'm not clear on that.
$4k Spent ~ Rank 4 & Five +10 Heroes
edit: BTW, $4K spent and he has a single Hector.
5-star Lyn is really good, definitely keep her. You shouldn't really expect to get too many 5-star characters, there's only a 6% chance to pull one after all.
Did you get Lissa from one of the special maps (yesterday I think?) Get her to 3 stars and you're good to go.

5* Marth
4* CorrinF
5* Fae
4* Lissa
I finally pulled 5* Takumi last night. My first thought is to have him replace CorrinF to reduce vulnerability to Falchion wielders. However, both Marth and Fae can self heal so replacing Lissa for increased offense could be optimal. Decisions...

Oh right, Gunter, that was yesterday. You'll get the chance to get another healer, Wrys, in 2 days.
Then there's this guy who pulls 2 Hectors and a Takumi in ~200 orbs or so.
His good pulls start around 12 min or something.

Man..I really need to go back and dig up some of the older GBA and gamecube stuff off of Amazon.
