It is, but the actual characters are Generals that never take the field except for in Days of Ruin. I could see them making medieval versions of them to fit the setting.
A standard hero unit Andy with a special skill that heals all allies
An axe wielding Max with Savage Blow and Knockback
A ninja Sami with a bonus against infantry, or maybe 3 movement
A brave spear Pegasus riding Eagle with Galeforce
An archer Grit with 3 range and only 1 movement
There's definitely gonna be crossovers at some point, but I'd expect it with series that are at least somewhat thematically comparable, like Zelda or Xenoblade.

Hawke with a staff damages all foes and heals all allies every turn. Now I want to play Advance Wars. Really sad they stopped making them.
These random stat gains have made my Robin nearly useless. He's level 30 with 17 speed. I just ran into one in the arena with 27. That's a crazy difference. It's at the point where just about anyone doubles him.

I read a post on Reddit that talked about how Fire Emblem is the first to implement random stat gains and how dangerous that mechanic is for Gacha games in the future.
Basically, a law was passed in Japan or China that forced all Gacha games to reveal the exact chances of drops in their packs. This random stat gain is a way around that, sort of, since even if you do get a 5* its not guaranteed to even be a good 5* which will force the whales to spend more and more money.
By the way, the stat gains in this game aren't completely random. Each character has a number of "sets" at level 40 - so you might get a Roy that isn't strictly speaking the best, but you will never have one that's worthless.
I'm definitely not a fan of these random stat gains and the variance that a max level character can have. I'm wondering if there's specific end points though, since I saw one guy with 4 takumi and 2 pairs each ended up with very similiar stats(and very different from the other pair). I'm wondering if it's like the typing system in BF like Anima vs Oracle.
I would have stopped playing day 1 if the stat gain mechanics were the same percentage chance system found in actual Fire Emblems games.
God imagine miss chance.
IMAGINE MISS CHANCE.
I've been playing FE since they released it in 2003 and I've only maybe had like 5 instances where a missed a hit I needed or an enemy hit/critical killed me on a low percentage. Either I'm super lucky or people are super unlucky.

I've had entirely too many occurrences where a 95% hit chance fails and gets a unit killed, a 1% crit chance causes an hour-long mission restart, or my unit holding a door gets three <10% crits back to back to back, instantly killing whatever was attacking them until the final unit attacking them finishes them off instead of having simply having held the door and killed 0-1 enemies like I wanted.

Did they ever make a Fire Emblem game where you can let people die and not need to restart to get good endings or whatever? One reason I played every advance wars game to death and only played two fire emblem games. Even when you install your CO in a unit they aren't permanently out of the game if they die.

Awakening and Fates both have a "Casual" setting that removes permadeath

At least in Awakening and maybe in Fates, they have "casual" mode that doesnt have permanent death.

Fire Emblem games have never really had multiple endings (except Awakening I guess).
takumi, minerva, and peri round out the rest of my A team
Hmm, Tharja excels on a team with assists and bonuses and none of those have any, and I want to assume that Tiki has the most defense in 5* out of any of those units which your team could use so I'm inclined to say Tiki might serve you better. Although, running two melee two ranged as some nice flexibility to it.
almost have used up all my feathers upgrading units to 4*. I'm not gonna worry about 5* upgrades anytime soon.
Anna and Sharena have been upgraded to 4*, Anna is already at 20 again. Alfonse is sitting at 3* 20 along with Lissa from the freebie the other day since i didnt have enough badges. Also have a Setsuna waiting for more badges to upgrade to 4*.
Also upgraded my Robin and F.Corrin to 4* as well.
I will say, Anna is actually pretty damn good now that she is at 4*.
So, I broke down and did another pull, but I told myself I wasn't gonna select any green runes (even though they might be Hector!) because I have a plethora of decent green units already, and was gonna save my orbs. So, what happens? I actually don't get any green orbs, heh. Wasn't a particularly good pull though, 2 4*s, Hana, which is better than the 3* Hana I have, and Matthew (might be good on high defense targets due to poison?, unsure). the others are 3*s, Olivia (my first dancer) looks appealing, and might level her up and fit her into a group somewhere, while the other 2 were duplicates.

That's exactly how it works. There's a high stat and a low stat and it could be random as to which stat your character has for that. So if you roll dupe 5* you should raise them both to see which one has the "preferred" stat allocation. But they will ultimately have the same number of total points.
So the randomness of stat gains isn't all that random. It's not like someone's Robin will have crazy stat gains and like 300 total points at the end and yours only has 200 or something. But yes, theirs could have (for example) higher atk, low def and yours could have higher spd, lower atk.

Don't forget about the random selection of the stones you select units from after committing to a pull. Yes, you have a 3% chance on a 5* and another 3% chance on an on-banner 5* but they don't need to tell you that there's a 33% chance that you won't see the correct colour stone you want for your 5* for that pull.
Eh, it's my understanding that once you press that Summon button, it just rolls 5 characters at once - but will tell you their colour before you commit to ponying up the full 20 orbs.
I don't think it rolls for colour first.

It's incredibly unlikely that the game rolls the characters prior to you choosing the stone.
That said, I've had fantastic luck pulling for specific colors, even if I only get 1-2 orbs of that color per set and need to back out after only one or two summons.
I technically spend more per summon that way, but if you're going for something specific that is on the focus banner the rates are incredibly generous, especially if there's only one unit of a given color on that focus banner.
And jeez their growths have been much better the second time around.
Tiki's speed still sucks ass, but with speed+ from Serra and speed- from Shanna it's not TOO bad. Also, I got her Lightning Breath and it's a delightful ability.
Shanna is just my only flyer right now... and my only lancer besides the starter, so I desperately wanted to bring her up to 4*.
Olivia is a BEAST now that I have Silver Sword on her. Still fragile, but she hits hard, knocks enemies around, and has dance on top of all that. And we all know Dance alone makes a unit amazing.
Also, fielding two units with the +Attack aura gets real good real fast.
See the smart thing to do is to roll all your three and four stars now so that when the Tellius characters drop you're all primed for boosted chance five star Ike, Nephenee and Tibarn.
So I just learned the hard way that your orbs don't carry over if you switch devices between Android and iOS. Glad I didn't have some big hoard built up.
Hoping I can "get them back" by loading the account up again on Android. Then I'll just spend them and switch back again.
I bought a few orbs (nothing crazy, just a 23-pack and a 35-pack). Two 20-rolls in, nothing but 3* and 4*, though I got a 3* Olivia and 4* Cain, so that was useful.
Third time was definitely the charm - first one was a Takumi!
Guess I'm rolling with Takumi/Camilla/Lucina/Olivia, now.
