I hit a curb really hard. someone nearly ran me off the road as I needed to make a lane change after a right turn and then through a curve. normally it's fine and I make it, but this guy sped up into my blind spot and I couldn't watch the curve well. I'm lucky when my car swerved out into the left lane after the hard curb hit that the guy slowed the fuck down and didn't hit me.
I guess I gotta get some photos and call my service department/insurance company.
OMFG the dealership is so fucking slow with service. Three hours for an oil change last week and five hours before they even got to my car today for the parking brake. WTF
An oil change takes about 15 minutes.
The last time I had the oil changed it took two-ish hours and they apologized by not charging me anything.
Depending on what your deductible is it's likely more (and more over time if using it causes your insurance rates to go up if the damage is considered an accident) than just taking the wheel to a specialist to be refinished and/or repainted.
I've had to fix my one of my summer wheels because I'm an idiot and curb rashed one parallel parking. The refinishing costed around $150. It can take a few days but there are companies that have mobile technicians who can come to you if you don't have a spare set of wheels.
Yeah, if it didn't fuck up your suspension then I wouldn't involve your insurance company. If you've got steel wheels, even if one did get bent it'll be cheaper to replace the wheel than having a claim on your insurance.
the hubcaps aren't even scratched really. they are bent up. I'm not sure that's the extent of the damage but it drives fine still. I'll have to get it checked regardless. I'm hoping it doesn't end up being a whole insurance claim. my deductible is 500 dollars and I don't have that much basically ever. especially not in winter.
If you have plastic snap on wheel covers then you can probably have the dealership or you a replacement, or if you can find the part number order them yourself online. However, if you have alloy rims that are bent then you'll have to get them professionally repaired or outright replaced depending on the severity of the damage.
Edit: if your car is still driving straight and you aren't having to add steering angle to drive straight them your alignment is probably fine. If the dealership will give you a free alignment check then take them up on it. Otherwise, the test will cost around $75.

If you're not noticing a significant change in the way the vehicle handles, i'd suspect your damage is largely cosmetic. I wouldn't expect the repairs to exceed $500, though YMMV (based on component costs/geographic location). Should be able to make a better judgement with some photo's though.
Between you and me, Peggy, I smoked this Juul and it did UNTHINKABLE things to my mind and body...

I need to get it in for another change.
Standard service charges at the dealership will be at least an hour, usually one and a half. But the oil change only takes a few minutes, and while they've got the car up on the hoist they will be inspecting it to see if there's any extra work they can pressure you to get done. Then in most dealerships they'll give it a quick wash and a vacuum which is about another ten minutes total.

Yeah, it's just snap on cover to hide the steel wheels. Purely cosmetic but it still sucks.
Those wheel covers look to be part number 52960A7000. You can buy them on ebay for around $30 or get one from the dealership for around $50 if they'll order you the part.
I looks like the lip of your wheel is definitely bent a bit but it doesn't look so severe as to have deformed the wheel itself. You might have to knock the lip of the wheel back into place with a hammer to get the wheel cover back on properly.
Also it doesn't look like your hubcap is actually broken, just bent, so all you gotta do is lift up on that bent edge until it pops back into place and give it a good whack to make sure it's on there.
It probably won't look perfect but it might look good enough for now vs spending money on a new one.

Unless it's one of the annoying ones that the wheel nuts hold on.
Well yeah I guess that could be the case, but then you've just got to take off the lug nuts, which sucks because it's work but it's not technical work.
And the hubcap could still be popped back into place with just a screwdriver even if it is held in place by the lug nuts. They only become a hassle if you're replacing it.
Yeah I had a similar bump a few weeks back when someone crept way up into my blind spot in a tight curve, and I whacked into a really bad pothole trying not to sideswipe them. Mine mostly just took a good kick to reset the cap, thankfully
this year, for the first time in my life, i'm going to be driving to work every day - 27kms each way through city traffic. can't take the family tank... so i bought a car
prius c 2014, less than 44k kms, ex-fleet and serviced immaculately. really good deal on it, too.
obviously my first priority was hooking up bluetooth audio, but is there anything else i really need to think about? a sick bumper sticker?

A large wing. Racing stripes - red, of course. Aftermarket performance part stickers. A turret. A turbo. An aftermarket exhaust system with a fart can. Better wheels.
Seriously though bsjezz, ditch the standard tyres and fit some Michelin Pilot Sports. The 'economy' tyres on hybrids are fucking horrible.
Why you need performance tires when the main concern is to be as efficient as possible?
Because the tyres make very little real world difference to fuel mileage (best case scenario is ~2%), and they are complete shit for ride, handling, braking, and wet weather grip. I don't want bsjezz relying on shitty tyres to keep himself safe in the event an emergency maneuver is required. Toyota fitted them to the 86 specifically because they're easier to slide.
i'll think about it when the budget eases up a bit, but this was already a pretty big hit. it definitely feels like better tyres would help... it's not the smoothest ride. but we're going to be functioning with the bare necessities for a bit. blame sydney tolls.
Miata has arrived I'll take pictures soon. Did one small drive around the block.... Man... What a vehicle. Engine definitely still working in top shape. Money well spent I'm already in love

I'm probably going to have to pay the service department at the dealership to handle it.
You can't give someone a pirate ship in one game, and then take it back in the next game. It's rude.

Being realistic, is there any way to pull the battery info to see how healthy it is?
It's ~4 years old with low mileage and a complete service history - the battery will be in good nick.
