Ech, nevermind. Too many weird holes in my lineup to work. It's one of those "Wall, Hastega, Stacking Breaks. Pick two" scenarios.
So I noticed last night that Krile has a second row record dive that uses 3* motes. Does anyone else?
Nah. It was an oversight, and by the time they noticed, it'd already been released and people had spent motes on it, so they decided to leave it as is.
Which is good, because access to Enveloping Etude and Spellbend Etude really help her in a team.
100 gem: Red Jacket (is that like the fourth one in this thread?)
Hard to decide where to put my mythril now, banner 1-3 all have things I want, but I'm not sure how much I want them. I do know that banner 1 has a lot of dupes though (Vaan BSB and Kain BSB, seph glove, Red Jacket). I kinda hate Sephiroth as a character, but he's been very effective for me, and +10 ATK and a 6* katana to equip him with in all realms would be nice. Onion OSB and Maria BSB would be nice to give myself some strong mage damage options, but I also need mage buffs, which are on banners 2 and 3 alongside other mage damage options. Yearghble.
Query to the experts, if you've got a dupe that has + elemental damage, do you often keep two copies of the relic to give to someone else who could use it for that element boost? Or should I just combine it for a single stronger relic?
It depends, but my default recommendation is to keep them separate. For weapons, you can often do as much damage with a synergy weapon as you could with an off-realm boost weapon, so there's a bit less incentive to have boost weapons for everyone, but it depends where you fall in relation to the ATK/MAG softcap after factoring in all of your buffs. Armors, on the other hand, I don't notice as much the difference in defensive performance between synergy and non-synergy due to how I play (stack all the buffs and debuffs, bring massive healing), so I always prefer armors with the biggest offensive punch, which is always going to be element boost armors. YMMV.
It's really odd to me that Edge's Red Jacket gives a boost to Fire, but Edge himself was already being groomed to be a primary water user. The +fire on his relic helps with ninja magic and his one instant AoE Fire SSB.
But it's a beautiful item for Locke whose BSB and SSB I pulled earlier, and neither relic boosts element damage.
When's a good fire sword/dagger/thrown coming up now? I seem to be sorely lacking in those types of things. But of course, there's a few dozen fire staffs/rods and a whip. :P

Ok so, after this round of pulling, I'm stopping until cloud usb. I've actually got Mage relics now. I'm not super familiar with the Mage meta because I've never done it, would this be viable?
Like, I guess I should go with one of the dps bsb's? I currently have three stacking boosts in the other four so not sure if krile would be useful enough with no bsb of her own.
Also, how are people dealing with sb gain? My initial reaction is to give OK and Raines sb gauge RM and yuna/y'shtola the sb gauge gain plus RM. then put a damage RM on the dps slot?
This is a super great foundation for a Mage team.
OK w/Mako Might for turn 1 Hastega
Raines w/Wrath to get a quick BSB going
Yuna w/DMT to get her BSB online, and then she can go summon mode and either strict damage or damage + heals, as needed.
Y'shtola w/ Wrath into her BSB for main heals
Of the other options, Maria does the most damage in a vacuum. You don't need Sheepsong since you already have Hastega covered, and should already be at the buff cap (~2.5) regardless.
You are RWing Wall in this set up, I take it? The only other thing is you might want to run OK as a Support. Something like:
Maria Chain-aga/Meltdown (BSB)
Raines Mental or Power Breakdown/Wrath (BSB)
OK Full Break/Magic Breakdown (BSB/OSB)
Yuna Curaja/Protectga
Y'shtola Wrath/Shellga
Though there's lots of room for flexibility. If you drop Yuna for Quistis, Y'shtola picks up Curaja and shift Protectga to Maria or Quistis. Maria, Quistis, and Raines can all self boost themselves 30% MAG, so you won't miss Yuna's buff. Or run Y'shtola with two Breakdowns, shift Shellga to Maria or Onion Knight, and have Onion Knight weave Full Break in between BSB command 2. Or forgo Full Break and have Onion Knight Wrath into BSB -> OSB combo for maximum overstrike damage.
In truth, I wouldn't run double healer for mage meta with Y'shtola's BSB. Anything that is out damaging her heals is typically going to just chew through the small hp pools too fast to keep alive. Maria, Raines, OK, and Quistis would personally be the 4 non healers I would bring, with MM/DMT for Raines and OK. Protectga can usually be skipped thanks to back row shenanigans. Quistis, and Maria can both do it after record diving at least as well. Quistis would be the stronger candidate because she can run Wrath/Protectga and use her BSB.
Man this raid is bullshit top to bottom. It did at least give a good use to OSBs I guess. Having two really obnoxious status effects attached to his phase transitions is just mean. I did manage to finish off another of Celes' 4* spheres at least. Hurray for more vitality motes!

You're in luck; Edge's SSB is instant cast and provides Hastega and Last Stand (and party Blink 1). You can RW that!
Alright, finally; with the exception of the Shadow Lord raids, I am finally caught up on content. All of FF2, FF6, the Record Missions, the first wing of Beyond the Omega, all done.
I suppose I haven't done the first two Nemesis fights either, but there's plenty of time to do those and the Shadow Lord raids.

So, against my better judgement I did another pull on banner 1 chasing Vaan's and Kain's BSB.
My first pull gave me OK OSB, Seph's SSB and Maria's BSB... Second pull gave me 2 rainbows: Arc's cloak and Edge's jacket. At least they are not dupes. No way I can justify pulling again.
A medica is always good I guess, and any relics for FFIV are nice for me.
Now to wait for banner 3 and a chance of chasing Cid's claw.

You got all the things I want from banner 1, but just can't seem to get.
between FF2 banner 2 and Anniversary banner 1, I've spent 150 mythril to get Maria's bow and so far come up with bunk.
So I have a longer term question - those Legend Meteria we'll get - will RWs have them equipped?
I didn't get my first hastega for forever, and I never got a boostga until OK - Vessel of Fate was my first of either. I also didn't have Stoneskin II until long after THAT, so the name of the game for me was "Wall, Protectga, Shellga, and breaks out the wazoo in order to live." So Tyro was ALWAYS in my team (especially since I had his BSB too), and I dove him to make him less awful.
So when those are added, I'll be able to get his "make wall last 50% longer" LM - wondering if I can help others benefit from my poor decisions.
It really depends on which characters who have access to those motes are strong enough to use in your file.
For example, if you have one of Celes's Runic soul breaks, Squall's En-ice, or Bartz's Enwind, those are all characters who could get a lot of value out of access to Snowspell Strike. Or maybe you have a Thief that you use in your party a lot; Mug Bloodlust would be a strong move in their arsenal.
Just whatever you do, don't spend any motes on the final level of a 5* sphere. The skill access and extra copies of the skil are worth way more than extra damage in that ability class for one character.

Monthly Torment dungeons offer 5* ability motes as first time rewards for the 200 difficulty, no idea if any others are coming. Onion Knight motes come from most FF3 events, and also as a random drop from the FF3 mote dungeon boss.

Did the multiplayer Black Knights last night with my usual group, except for one guy who couldn't make it. Which mean we didn't do a second run, so I had to find another way to do the battle on my alt account. Turns out that Kain and Leila BSBs are very good for this fight, and I was able to solo clear both difficulties. Had to leave Onion Knight at home in order to fit in Penelo for dancing, which was a little weird but worked so whatever.
Those status effects, though. 9% chance to blind, gets both Kain and Leila in the same action. What a crock.
I think it took me around 10 runs to get a winning team on those knights. It was finally Beatrix BSBing in the front with Ramza Shouting from the rear that pulled it off.
Lifesiphon on both, Saint's Cross on Bea, Full Break on Ramza. Two hits from her BSB killed the three weak knights, and Lifesiphon/hitting a weakness + ace striker let her reload her SB meter off that one knight who survived, so she could take out the 2nd and 3rd waves two turns after they spawned.

Right, so, I don't have much in the way FF2 synergy, especially stuff relevant and useful for the Torment CM. I was waiting until after the Lucky Draws in case that shook things up (or 100 gemming Maria BSB on Fest banner 1, but lol).
The "plan" as it were, was two pulls on FF2-2, and then if that banner becomes too risky because of dupes, to try my luck at Fest banner 1 for Maria BSB.
So FF2-2 first pull:
Minwu instant Medica (dupe, but bear with me)
Gordon 30/30 and Blink SSB
Guy AoE Imperil Earth
Freaking Maria BSB
...
Got it in one. An entire Torment CM team's worth of SBs in ONE pull! Plus the foundation of an Earth team for Magicite dungeons way down the line.
My takeaways:
1. Holy smokes
2. Hang it up, we're done here. I don't think I'll ever have a better pull of concentrated awesome ever again. I can't imagine I have any more luck left for the rest of the fest banners/Setzer BSB.
3. If I'm ever lamenting bad pulls in the future (such as 0/11 on a BSB Lucky Draw), I hereby deputize and empower the rest of the thread to remind me "hey, at least remember the time you got all the FF2 things in one pull."

I'm almost there, just have Emperor left.
Also note, I'm going to try to run Apocalypse MP Doom Train tonight, if folks are around in Discord. 6 PDT sharp. Bring Blind/Confuse/Slow resist, Affliction Break, and Magic mitigation.
So I'm certainly in the minority here, but I have a healthy appreciation for 6* daggers. To date in Japan, there are 4 of them, 2 of which showed up in the past 2 weeks or so. I can't find any mention of Vaan or Locke OSBs recurring before then, but I don't have every banner in front me of to check. Does anybody know if Vaan or Locke OSBs show up again before the next festival?
There's a huge amount of characters stuck in 1-50 limbo but I'm planning on egging the level 1s so that they're level 50. I have several thousand 3* eggs and like 500 4*s so it's not like it'll leave me in a lurch plus I believe that my core (not "core") roster is capable of dealing with whatever for now.
I egged a good portion of those 99s (Cloud, Thancred, Alphinauld, Minfilia, Tyro) but you want to know why I don't have everyone level 80? That's the reason why.
The 80s contingent is about 50 strong
About 20 stuck between 51-80
Another 30 exactly 50 and the rest are level 1s
People who've been playing since Day 1 are probably close to maxed all the way around. I got everybody to 65 after six months of playing and a ton of orbfest refreshing. Another six months on, and I'm getting close to 80 for just about everybody. The eggs you get every week start to add up, particularly now that they added a bunch more for multiplayer.
I only have 15 characters at 99, and the only one I spent significant eggs on above 80 was Onion Knight (and even then only to 86 because I could level him in the FFIII Exp dungeon). I have another 6 characters that I have used an MC3 on but not yet maxed (Arc is super close to 99). Then at 80 I have 28 more, 13 at 79, and 19 more between 65 and 78. And I still have 44 at level 1.
Also it took me way too long to find out how to view the roster like in that screenshot.
