Made the mistake of trying to do the level 60 pld duty.
Back into a 1k queue now.
it's fucking stupid enough that the whole duty debacle is fucking up people progressing in SB. It's doubly stupid that every single fucking class quest, and otherwise, that requires a duty, is fucked too.
I swear they had the exact same duty instance problem at 2.0 launch. 4 years ago. So they just didn't solve it? I guess people filtered through it slowly enough that it just took care of itself, but the systems that failed that caused it don't appear to have ever been fixed.
Sitting in a queue now for about 10 minutes. Just wanted to do my lvl 30 class quest so I can get my Paladin quest. Tried it late Friday night? I think. Got booted every time. Super worried that its going to happen again after sitting in this queue...
Edit-....and booted. Guess I should just probably accept that I'm stuck not progressing any of that stuff for like a week at least. Haven't has this much hassle with an mmo in years (

Started leveling a new class to get back into the feel of things before hopping back onto my level 50
Trying to do the level 15 Rogue class quest booted me, repeatedly get 90002 trying to reconnect, finally get back in and try again, get booted with 90006
I feel completely confident saying the only reason there is a queue right now, at least on Sarg, is because of the people booted from duties, trying to log in and just getting 90002's over and over.
Real fun when someone in the FC chat is ignoring the "no spoilers" directive and being an ass when asked to stop because it's "not technically a spoiler."
Someone also mentioned that there's a vendor in Ishgard that sells item level 255 gear in the Jeweled Crozier, for all those new RDM and SAM alts getting leveled up.

Arguing about what constitutes a spoiler ought to be a bannable offense. You let something slip and someone calls you out, fine. But you get defensive and start drawing the conversation out, go directly to gaol.

There is. I used it to grab gear for my Warrior (since I haven't played since basically HW release). It looked like every slot had 255.

The first handful of MSQ quests give you high quality versions of the same!

I'd heard that also. I'm still making my way through the MSQ since I was way back around Alexander release for my MSQ. I just did Xelphatol and judging by the wiki I've still got 17 quests left to go before SB.

From the bit I got to play I really like the ability culling.
Also was reminded why playing DPS is the worst via a short conversation I witnessed while doing Urths Fount for WT.
I queue up as tank. Says "average wait 30min" 4min later and I'm in.
DPS player says "finally that was an 84min queue"
Another dps "yea that took forever"
All healers healers and tanks "..."
But seriously DRK felt really good from what I played around with. Will have to see how it feels at 70 but the changes make the Mana feel less like battling a falling mana bar and more like trading a point or two on a resource bar back and forth which fixes my personal issues with playing it. This makes me very happy. I feel like I have to stare at my resources less and can focus on looking at the actual fight (which was why I liked playing PLD more). I hate staring at timers and bars. I wanna look at my cool dude fighting a cool monster and stare at all the cool stuff I have to dodge.

I liked my DRK when I played him early in HW's. He was a bit more complicated then a PLD but not crazy like a WAR. I don't know how they are after some skill changes. I had to reset all my buttons on my WAR before I did anything.

Oh is this still happening? It was happening Friday too with some people. Late HW-spoilers in chat and I kinda jokingly said "Spoilers! :P" and got a huge conversation started about how people need to get over it and hurry up and beat the MSQ.
I mean, a lot of people are probably new or returning who haven't quite caught up yet and I know of at least 2 people in the guild for which that would have been an actual spoiler. I know there's a bunch of people in the guild who aren't forumers so that's probably related? It just seemed like a weird reaction to a, I thought, polite request.
Having a blast leveling my Dark Knight. Also tried out PvP this morning and it's pretty nice too and a nice way to gain exp
The only knock on it I'd say is server lag makes 'draw in' abilities odd. And as a melee class sometimes actually hitting people can be hard because even though I look like I'm in range, my abilities won't trigger.
Still fun though, but very hectic.
Also I'm kind of happy that I'm so far back behind the majority of the player base. My highest class is a level 52 Dragoon, and I JUST got to Ishgard. Right now I'm leveling DRK to get him to 50 so I can do the HW content with him. Since I won't see the SB content for many weeks if not months, I'll have avoided the rush entirely.
Managed to get a character on Sarg. Have seen a good amount of Ghost members around town. Gave them a cheer before running along. My guy is Archie Banner. But I can't reply to tells or any of that currently. Still on the free trial until later this week most likely.
So last night, I decided to knock out some level 50 quests I never got around to clearing. Next up is Sastasha Hard. Decide to play RDM to learn it in the dungeons.
First boss, Im ready to rock. I have full black/White mana. Leap in. Do the melee combo, massive damage, Back flip away to safety.
Super safety.
I flipped out of the arena right when the wall went up.
I couldn't help out for the rest of the fight.

I'm getting close to capping on poes... and only level 63. Is there anything I could/should buy with them that could help out with gearing up at 70? Or am I unable to do that until I actually am 70? (If so, what would you recommend I buy with the tomes?)

I think with any long-running MMO you get an air of elitism from the old guard towards newer players. I see it in a lot of MMOs I play, FFXIV isn't unique. Players railing against level boosts or grind skipping mechanics that help new players catch up. Not caring about dropping spoilers because "why haven't you played last year's content already?"
I'm not sure what we can do to help curb that attitude, it seems to be a common attitude in this type of game.
I tried Frontlines PVP with Machinist this weekend. I didn't expect to see a whole new bar of abilities, but once I got that sorted out, I had a lot of fun. I've never been much for PVP, so this was a surprise. The way the abilities are tuned, it almost feels like a "digest" version of the PVE ability set. It basically convinced me that, yes, Machinist is definitely for me now. Balancing the Heat gauge while firing off crazy impossible abilities is so much fun. Now I know what I'm leveling after I finish Stormblood! In a few months...
Go to Wolf's Den to reassign and test out PVP abilities in peace, btw.

I used to love pvp, but my anxiety has gotten crazy bad in the past few years, making queueing up for pve hard, and queueing up for something competitive super bad. The frontlines pvp is such a clusterfuck and amusing that it seriously makes it enjoyable. I dont have to stress or worry, even as a melee class, theres just always something to do. Im really enjoying it.

I can also get pretty stressed during competitive multiplayer. It seems like you don't need to do well to get decent rewards, which does a lot to reduce pressure for me. Just have fun and do your best I guess? I got like 6 kills last night, which I counted as a victory, even though we definitely lost.
I have a question about the music in Rhalgr's Reach (moderate spoilers, involving the first cutscene in SB where you see Zenos)
Why is the music in the resistance headquarters using the same tune as the dang Garlean Anthem?
On that same area in the story, I like how many dialogue options I'm getting. It helps to add a voice to the character im playing.
when Alphinaud asked me about whether I wanted to join the assault against the garleans, i sorely wanted to pick the option that started with "frankly, Alphy, this isn't my fight, but...", because I love that nickname. But I decided my character would be more likely to go with a revisit of the "for those we can yet save" line.

That really confused me too. Maybe that IS Ala Mhigo's that they appropriated with new lyrics when they invaded? Have we heard the garlean anthem before now?

Well, they are technically under Garlean rule, aren't they? Maybe the music is just supposed to serve as a reminder of the constant danger they're in.
is that tune also used in Revolutions? I don't have the time to compare the themes right now, but maybe it's an Ala Mhigan theme that was repurposed by the Garlean invaders, as a "we own you now" gesture.

We should take tomorrow off right? I worry how nasty the 90k errors are gonna get.
I'd guess not that bad. Early Access was open to anyone who bought a copy of Storm blood, so most people who wanted to jump in, did. Plus they already have temporary mitigation solutions in place.
Hit 60 last night, after much hitting my head against the server I did my level 60 class quest and...was disappointed. Spoilers for Paladin below
I have been chasing after Oathkeeper and this one Paladin since the beginning. Hes manipulated myself and several other people, lied and emotionally screwed people over and even set this kid on a the path of becoming a Paladin for vengeance as a lie, all to find a Paladin with a soul bright enough to reignite Oathkeeper after he found it. He did find it (and I think we helped in Realm Reborn) and after much to do *I* re awaken Oathkeeper...then hand it over to a guy who can't get it to shine. Dude come on, give me the sword I've worked my ass off for.

90002 every time.
I guess it's fine? I'm pretty much at a wall of not-straight-grinding things I can do without being able to do any sort of duty.
EDIT: got on and managed to get in the duty, because I hate myself.
The whole HW PLD questline doesn't make a damn lick of sense. Even the NPC's comment on not understand why what happened happened. :rotate:
