I want an outfit entirely made of barbarian style furs. Also Karoz have you tried using those armorsmithing kits that reduce the weight of armor? Are they any good, or a waste of points?
They make a huge difference. I've used them and it's like 40% reduction.
As much fun as I have watching Moth and Pixie sleep in game while they are away IRL, we should probably have that logout characters thing flipped false.
Dietary already took care of it.
Not that I really care that much, but, why? I though that was kinda a fun feature. Folks just need to remember to get back to a room and not just log out anywhere.
Because things can happen when people are not logged in that would realisticly wake them up, but won't, so end up killing them.
Especially when people can be away for a long time.

That's good! There were something like 4 bodies passed out in my living room this morning
Immersion and realism
I think it's mostly there to prevent pvp shenanigans. It has the side effect of making the game feel more populated but not having it wouldn't make or break the game for us. It would be a convenience not having to run back to a safe spot to log out. Plus it's a broken feature right now.
In the games of cutthroat survival like DayZ, Rust, etc. Part of the reason for sleeping persistent characters was to prevent certain types of players from logging out if they were about to be ganked. Not only from the victim side, but also aggressors that ended up fighting someone better than them and just pulling the plug to save all the loot, xp, etc on that character.
About to die, pull the plug, wait an hour, go play on another server, other player gives up hanging around, log back in, near zero consequences, try to get the drop on them again.
But there is a bad memory code with sleeping players atm so, no bodies remain on logout officially atm.
I suffer from persistent disconnections from the server for some reason. It's fairly random, and I'll play for hours without an issue and then suddenly I'll just get dropped and have to log back in. It's not too bad but I'm worried about what will happen if this occurs mid-fight. Presumably whatever I'm fighting will just eat me.
So I wouldn't mind a feature that allows my body to disappear on logout/disconnection.
On my private server where PVP is not an issue, I play with offline bodies not appearing in the world because that eliminates the offline hunger/thirst meters from depleting, and it also prevents food in your inventory from going bad while you're offline. I consider those quality of life for myself and my friend, even if they aren't "official settings."

Food goes bad when you're offline?
That explains why my bag of cooked human flesh totally not chunks of my defeated human foes turned into rotten meat by my next log-in.
Yeah, it's a touch of realism, but it's also annoying. And I don't like to be annoyed when I'm playing video games for fun. So I eliminate that problem with making offline people disappear from the world.

I'm guessing everyone is on PC and not console? (PS4 here)
Ok, these npc's with shields are insane.
I can't kick the shield without pushing them out of spear range, i can't circle behind them because they turn 180 degrees in a blink of an eye (while blocking), and only way to do any damage is to keep circling until they attack and hope they are in range for me to hit.
Archers are almost as bad with their backpedalling almost as fast as i can walk forward, while shooting at me, and trying to get close enough to poke them with a pike is a complete pain in the ass.

Interesting, because sword and boarding archers is a piece of cake for me! Pikes can eat a dick though...
You need to switch up weapons. Crippling weapons are great for pesky backpedaling archers - swords and throwing weapons are good for this. Fighting someone with a shield? Pull out your trusty axe or mace for the shield-smashing property.
Just like with armor, you need to be versatile. This game is not going to let you easily have one set of gear for all purposes.

I believe 2h swords and 1h axes have some strong moves to get around the shield. But since I mainly use the spear as well I tend to try to find a way to use the initial fast attack move to get behind the shield to break the block and then hit them with strong attacks.
Pike and 2h hammer warriors in general (as well as sword and mace enemies charging up their attack) will also not get easily stun locked so be aware before fully committing to the otherwise OP poke combo of the spear.
With my own pike, which is my weapon of choice for most things anyway. The AI isn't very good at actually using pikes, so it doesn't combo well (in my experience). It may get a hit in on me first, but once I get that first heavy hit and stagger them, they're done for. 4 heavy hits in a row, roll back, refresh stamina, repeat. Trying to fight against one with a shorter weapon, however, is an exercise in frustration.
Chipmunks are like nature's nipple clamps, I guess?

You can kill shielding enemies with pikes when you take in account that you can (awkwardly) hit behind yourself on the LMB swings. The AI doesn't cope well with that kind of thing. It's messy, but it works.
The swing knockdown on LMB as strike #4 in a combo tends to really take out human opponents without shields, too.
Rolling is nice, but many encounters can be sidestepped by just running forward diagonally and side-strafing the lunging opponent while they're exposed.

If you're going to fight big baddies with heavy armor on, I'd suggest using dual daggers. Your roll is fubar with heavy armor, its more of a step back, but the Special attack while dual wielding daggers is a roll backwards. While heavy armor is great for the occasional hit, dodging is still way better.

Tell you what, those Level 3 Dancers with their dual poisoned daggers attack are no joke. Killed me twice this afternoon while I was trying to add them to my chorus line.

The Bull Elks in the Highlands are very easy Thick Hide. They have those massive antlers and are slow as molasses so you can see their attacks coming a mile away. Very easy to dodge and then poke them as they try to circle back around. Lots of health, tho, so it does take a while to kill them.
What's a good place to find dancers? Also I'm looking for a priest of Derketa to join my society. The pay is nothing but the fringe benefits are deplorable. Anyone know where I can find one?

Three good spots for dancers-- the Black Hand pirate ship; the big Desert Dog camp inside the old ruins; and the City of Set. All are in the Desert, I don't know if the other biomes have dancers.
Can't help you with a Priest of Derketa. There are a bunch of camps near the Black Hand ship where priests can be found for Set and Mithra, have you tried there ?
I was playing with Admin commands in my solo game. Mostly I use it for planning how I want to build out my base in multiplayer. Anyways there was a Destroy Target command. I wonder what this does.....

Oh sh*t! I deleted the ground!
Fortunately a reload fixed that. Good thing too because I couldn't find an undo command.
I'll check them out tonight. I'm going to build a tavern of sorts and taverns need dancers!
I'll try the Black Hand ship for priests as well. I found a Priest of Yog in the big summoning chamber in the desert. That was a freaky place, but I killed my way to that priest and it was worth it but I didn't stick around to see what other goodies might be there, as I was low on food and wanted to get back with my prize.
The problem really is not that i can't kill the enemies, i can.
Problem i have that they behave in a manner that should be damn near physically impossible to do.
Walking backwards should not be as fast as walking forwards, especially if you are trying to do something like shoot a bow.
Stabbing with a pike should not force me to stop, especially when my target is walking backwards away from me (seemingly faster than i can extend my pike), enemies with shields should not be able to switch between attack and block instantly when i can't, and they definitely should not be able to turn around instantly.
Like, if they made really difficult combat system with enemy ai that uses that system skillfully, that would be one thing, but they didn't, it seems more like a rock paper scissors that makes no real sense and is enforced by unrealistic enemy behaviour.
The combat system is lot better than it used to be, yes, but it is still far from good.

I've found an Archpriest of Yog occasionally near the Bat Demon Temple, in a small Dafari camp on the west peak.
Location is called "The Cursed Way".

Yog, Set, and Mitra were in the Early Release, so their priests are relatively easy to find in the desert. I would guess that you will only find priests of Ymir in the Highlands and Derketa in the jungle.

I was pretty upset to discover that the knockdown at the end of my sword's power combo literally means jack shit. The enemy ragdolls... But apparently doesn't have a get-up animation. So the game treats it like it's standing, even while it's flopped on the ground, so it can pop up onto its feet in one frame, swinging an attack.
First time I discovered that, I was pretty salty. 'Cause the guy had a sliver of health left when he went down, and I closed in for the kill, only to get blasted by a power attack by the fucker who had just been facedown in the dirt. I died. So much salt.
I was adjusting my temple and building it further out from the rocky outcropping in the highlands, and needed to move my bed to put the shrine down. Then I alt-tabbed to check something, forgetting that that rolls me backward.
It rolled me backward off a cliff, into a wolf, and I died before I could alt-tab back. And promptly spawned all the way back at the desert. When I managed to get back, corpse was gone (I assume it lasts only like 15-20 minutes or something). So that's all that light armor gone! Oh well.

I've done that a couple of times now.

I just got off the ARK server we had running that was modded up to heck, so I was kinda hoping to try some vanilla stuff here before it got modded to be easier, but I started playing literally yesterday, so... Opinion doesn't count for much.
