House is so good I forgot Hugh Laurie was British for awhile.

Hugh Laurie's American accent is great until you start trying to figure out where his accent is actually from
It's got lots of little oddities, it's American but it's not an American accent you'd actually hear people speaking.
But it usually just comes across as Laurie having a peculiar way of speaking, rather than him having a wrong accent.

I remember an episode of House where his character actually had to use a british accent for something and afterwards people on this very forum who didn't know where he was actually from, derided his accent for being fake and bad

So Dr. Strange...
It's a solid C+ movie. Had some cool effects, Story was alright, Mads Mikkelson!
But it was boring at time. I didn't love Benedict Cumberbatch....

Why was it relevant that Dr. Strange had to be American? Couldn't he have been British? Because the "Queen's British" is very posh, but also sounds arrogant, which would've suited the character well...

There was also no reason for him to be white

I'm very against having a British Strange, because I'm sick of wizards always being posh British dudes.
But I'm also solidly against Cumberbatch as Strange, and was really hoping for a non-white version of the character.
I'd have been okay with him British but I am always keen for British people in big hollywood movies to be, like
Not very well spoken RP English posh, if you get what I mean
Regional variations are really rare to hear, it's a shame really. Outside of posh you basically get (fake) cockney and then Sean Bean and that's about it

I've decided that Dr. Strange is not quite the worst Marvel Universe movie.

It's still one of the best, having watched it again recently
Really great action sequences with the Iron Suit, too. I don't think they ever depict it as being as having such raw power as they do in the first movie, too. Very solid kinetic feel to it's movement IMO
I dunno I just thought iron man 3 felt bloated and overfull with villains and references and that kid was so annoying and unconvincingly written.
I dunno maybe it was only the fact that I liked the first one so much for being a tightly paced and plotted movie that told the origin of a character and tied off pretty neatly at the end (with it's weakest point being the shitty villain that was only slightly elevated by the actor's performance) that each of the follow up movies felt really awful in their own unique way.
It might help if I felt like Tony would really learn more from movie to movie I think. As it is I feel like the things that happen to him end up being very superficial and are quickly drowned out by the "hey check out this army of remote control iron man suits! collect them all!"

You didn't like Bandersnatch Cumberbun? You monster.
Chiwetel Ejiofor was the best part of the movie. And Benedict Wong.

The worst is still, well
It knows what it did, anyway
I haven't gone back to it for a while.
Consider it's a British actor playing an American with a bad British accent

But I'm still iffy on the sequel stuff since Iron Man 2 and 3 blew so hard.
Watch it. Watch it now.
I wish Tube didn't hoard the disagree button all to himself just so I could repeatedly press it for this post.

Its weird how the minority of people that don't love IM3 also really really hate it.
Im always surprised when opinions stratify so strongly.

Yeah I mean specifically American.
There's a very distinct Ameraustralian accent prevalent in media that I find hilarious and I really want to see how it translates to a Kiwi one.

I can barely tell the difference from the two.
Although that's mostly been on a downward direction.
Yeah IMO
He starts in the first movie vowing never to build and sell another weapon because his company profiteering off of both sides of the war on terror.
Then he goes and build an army of robots that are only beholden to himself that later lead to a terrorist super AI almost destroying earth.
One of these days I'd like the MCU to maybe not take a huge dump on Tony
Especially the last one
