Watched the first new ep last night

It was wonderful and made me supremely happy.

More importantly, it made my wife incredibly happy. I love MST3K but she fucking adores it. And the kickstarter was one of my christmas presents to her, so that its good and has made her happy is all I can ask for.

Boy it seems like a really, really shortsighted idea to leave all the episodes unlabelled

That is going to make rewatching specific episodes such a pain

It's unlabeled on Netflix? I don't have Netflix, but the VHX kickstarter reward page has everything numbered.

I just watched the first one.

    Dang that was really good.

I am so happy that MST3K is back and as good as ever.

I'm kinda shocked how giddy the opening got me.

Hey MST3K good to see you again.

I love the theme song rehash. Legitimately giving me goosebumps. I'm so happy.

    Edit:
MF'ing BUBBLE FAN! I'm gonna have to make one of those for my godson. Heckin' rad.

    watching 1103.

    In one host segment
Is that Elliott Kalen dressed as the guy from the movie?

I recognized Joel immediately but I only know Elliott well by voice as I haven't seen him in video or pictures much but yeah, I figured he'd show up in a host segment eventually. Fucking rad.

Small thing about the season now that the full episode list is public knowledge:
I am so glad that one of the movies is a Hercules film. And featuring yet another actor for Herc too!

I find the joke density to match my peception of the show when I was growing up because i couldnt keep up with every reference, though having watched it as an adult I realised it wasn't quite as non-stop as I imagined

I wasn't hyped for this for the same reason I didn't back it: I was scared. I grew up about a mile away from where it was filmed in MN and some of my happiest moments with my dad have been permanently entwined with this show and how it shaped my taste in things.

Maybe im trying to see the best in it but I've had a smile on my face all throughout reptillicus at least.

Certain style-changes bug me, but this is maybe my one legit complaint with the new show is that it is a barrage of riffs that feels crammed to the gills in a way that actively hurts the delivery of the jokes being told

I guess we're spoilering this stuff, I'm on episode 3.
I totally saw part of this movie killing time before checkout at PAX South, it was the section where they were showing off their future lab and the dude who turns circles into squares and makes goddamned square puns. WE HAD SQUARES IN THE PAST YOUR LIFE IS MEANINGLESS.

Yeah and for me it evokes how I wasn't able to keep up as a 7 year old so I don't mind

    It's a legit complaint

I didn't think Reptilicus was too bad but the other two episodes I've watched definitely had moments where it felt like they were trying to fit way too many jokes in and weren't giving the film itself enough breathing room. One of the strengths of the old show, especially the Joel era, was they gave you a lot of time to take in the film on its own, which I feel really enhances the experience.

A deluge of jokes can get tiring. And there's a certain beauty in a 30 second stretch of terrible movie punctuated by a single joke that I think speaks to my comedic sensibilities better.

It takes a while to get going, but it's up there with the best songs the show's done

Yeah I love it. The new SoL is like an efficiency apartment. And if the Mads ever really wanna stick it to Jonah they can close it on him while he's doing his laundry or something.

The only issue I have with the new Crow/Servo voices is that they don't seem nearly as distinct from each other as previous versions so I haven't figured out how to tell them apart in the theater yet if I don't notice Crow moving.

I'm only on Episode 4, so I'm hoping that either they'll get more comfortable in the roles or I'll get more familiar with their voices before the end.

How would you say you feel about Tom Servo's new voice? Answer in banner form, if possible.

Okay I'm really digging Avalanche. The riffing feels better paced and the "intentionally bad disaster movie" sketch is really good. I mean it's mostly just a bunch of silly names, but some of those names are great and also I really appreciate the show making a point about the difference between shallow bad-on-purpose movies and earnest B movies.

The line from Crow that just killed me for whatever reason in Reptilicus.
You leave me alone with a giant pagoda, what did you think was going to happen?

Just, something about the goofiness of the monster rampage, the poor models, and Crow's inflection had me in stitches.

I agree the riffing is a bit too hyper, but when the jokes land, they land. There were plenty of good ones in the first episode.

Is it just me or were they starting some jokes in Reptilicus like a second before the scene changed to the thing they were making the joke about?

At least he's not dangling limp like the previous times he's been seen in full.
