When I played through on the PS4, I went with "I don't have time for this", which followed my mostly brain responses. My last playthrough was mostly a mixture of heart and fist leavened by some brain, so I took the opportunity to execute Helis. Yeah. Yeah. That was satisfying after all the death he caused. Turn your face to the sun, asshole.
I like the heart response for him, just because taking pity on him for being such a tool seems to really piss him off way more than being angry at him.

I think I'm nearly done with Frozen Wilds, which I took on as a detour from the main game when a main quest sent me to that part of the map anyway...

As I've mentioned before, I'm playing on story difficulty this time through. So with the banuk weapons, I expect the rest of the game will consist of Aloy being especially hilariously OP. I mean, these damage numbers are quite silly.

    Jeeeeezus.

That whole loooooong last quest in Frozen Wilds was pretty intense but was made 100x more intense by thinking the whole time "please don't crash please don't crash please don't crash I don't want to repeat all this" ... >.>
It crashed almost immediately after we got out. Well played, game.

Our team is continuing to investigate open issues and we will continue to update you when more news is available.

As always, thank you for your feedback and support across our channels. Below you can find the Known Issues as well as the patch notes for update 1.03!

    –Guerrilla

    Known Issues

Some players are experiencing an out of memory error during the game optimization process.
Some players are experiencing graphical settings issues, such as Anisotropic Filtering or HDR not working correctly.
Some players are experiencing performance issues on specific GPUs or hardware combinations.
We're aware of and continue to investigate issues that are not yet solved on both the player-compiled lists by u/EvilMonkeySlayer and u/Rampage572 – thank you!

    Patch Notes

    Crash Fixes

Fixed a GPU resource leak which could build up over time and cause instability.
Fixed a GPU hang that caused a crash that could occur when Asynchronous Compute was used.
Fixed a crash when AI would try to aim at an invalid position.
Fixed a crash that could occur when sound obstruction was calculated in highly detailed areas.
Fixed a crash that would occur when moving the game to a monitor with different DPI settings while in the menu.
Fixed an issue where some players would crash on startup due to incorrect memory allocation.
Fixed a GPU hang that would occur when the window was resized to a very small size.

    Progression Issues

Here's hoping the new patch reduces crashes further. I was seeing lots of crashes in graphically intense areas, so the fixes there sound promising.

It was bad enough I got in the habit of quitting out of the game and restarting before I entered known arenas...

That's how the first patch was for me. Before that I almost never had an issue. Ever since, I crash every hour. Hoping this patch sorts that out but I'm not super optimistic!

I will say they did a great job of the save points.

I was inside a base and had to end for the night, figured I'd be thrown back to the beginning of the base or back to an outside fire. Loaded it up and I was right at the last checkpoint.

Seems like Horizon has that aspect under Control.

I never really used the shield armor on PS4 because I was so salty about its appearance.

I still am but gave it a try anyway and it + a banuk hunter bow that has mods that make it do as much damage as a powershot is completely fucking ridiculous.

In my NG+ I'm just mainlining the story and...man, it's pretty disjointed! It really is designed for you to at minimum take your time in the ruins and explore most nooks and crannies to pick up the extra clues and context. Absent those clues the dialog is choppy as hell.

I do but it's still striking how much the story is dependent on them. There are people that aren't completionists, and they're getting a very strange look at a fascinating world.

    ...

I killed a Fire Bellowback in 2 triple-nocked Banuk Hunter Bow salvos. NG+ on Normal is disgusting

Oh also I have the shield weaver outfit much much before you're supposed to because I glitched into the supposed-to-be-final battery's location and grabbed it as my third battery about 40 hours ago. Makes all these dangerous ambushes during quests pretty funny.

You just get xp for doing the quest. There's no Adept version.

I really don't get the salt over the shield-weaver's appearance. One of those old-tech suits would have looked so weird, I'd wonder why every NPC didn't react with "What new kind of machine is this?!".
It was already strange enough that I could wear a Banuk outfit and face-paint, and everyone instantly identifies me as a Nora.

It's like people in Assassin's Creed never commenting on the fact that you're wearing glowing power armor from Destiny an ancient race.

I'll be surprised if someone doesn't mod one into the game in due time, though. A mod I'd actually like is an Adept version with modification slots. Just because it's OP doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to make it more OP.

I don't want it to necessarily be the exact power armor, even though that is what I was thinking it would be the first time through, I just wish it looked distinct. Or at least identifiably salvaged from the power armor. The plates comprising it barely look like the same material.

Thematically it looks exactly how it should in-world, as a thing wholly constructed by Aloy from salvaged parts. But that's still kinda boring for a game-spanning quest reward.

It is bad, and you should feel ashamed to having a different opinion to someone on the internet.

Seriously though, I like it. I do wonder if we're going to get an explanation for why Aloy isn't level 60 and tooled up with endgame gear at the beginning of the next game, though.
I figure either she'll just show up in the default outfit with no mention of it, or we get a Metroid Prime style thing with some really powerful gear, but it all gets trashed by the end of the intro mission, and she just forgets how to shoot three arrows at once.

What I would love to see in FW regarding weapons and armor:
Aloy keeps the power armor, but it gets damaged. As the game progresses, Aloy makes repairs to the armor, and starts enhancing it. So you can toggle mid-fight from stealth enhancement to physical protection to frost protection to fire protection, etc. You can collect various appearances, but they’re entirely visual, Aloy keeps wearing the ancient armor and just incorporating different elements of other armor.

With regards to weapons, I’d love if in an very early bunker you find a Biologically Operated Weapon (BOW) designed for multipurpose combat capabilities. It would transform into a bow, a spear, a slingshot, a bigger bow, a smaller bow, a tripcaster, etc. Again, as Aloy progresses through the game she’d unlock new forms for it.

It would give Aloy another chance to show how smart she is, and it would mean that she wasn’t putting in and pulling out stuff from her bags of infinite holding all the time.

It’s not likely, but I can dream.

Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

If they keep the same basic combat system, they definitely need to make it easier to swap outfits the way you can swap weapons.

It could be just one outfit but it chances appearance somewhat when she switches between the different utility setups it has, like going between a stealth mode and an armor mode, maybe a mode that enhances her melee attacks and another to make her move faster. They'd have it say some sort of voice line each time she switches between the modes, of course.

You'd think the fast movement one, right? She gets a quick run up and so is able to launch herself higher? No no no, see this is where the subversion is. You put that on the melee one, which then lets you change up your play style, say if you want to jump up to a bandit on a tall platform to melee him instead of shooting him. Naturally she also gets a reduction in fall damage as a result.

I liked the design of the shield armour, personally.

Entirely agreed on wanting an easier way to swap outfits, regardless of how sensible it is or isn't to be able to do. I'd be fine with making it a single suit that can change its focus (something something nanomachines, son, etc) so we could reflect different defensive loadouts on the fly when needed.

I basically lived in the stealth suits for most of the game (finished on Normal, NG+ Hard, NG+ Ultra Hard) and would generally swap to the shield (once I had it) once a real fight was upon me. Yeah, depending on the fight, the resist suits could be a game changer, but I didn't find it was a strictly single element battle that I felt it necessary to swap over for that one specific element. Being good against all damage, or hard to find in general served me for most of it.

But yeah, make it a radial selection like for weapons, and just have a stealth, combat, and resistance set of loadouts (or customizable and let people choose them, whatever) and I'd be happy to adjust on the go. The need to pop into that menu and break the flow of combat was annoying enough that I didn't do it often, which may have been intentional to some degree, but if so, why bother giving us these highly specific resistance suits when looking to avoid trouble usually means Stealth, and otherwise having one suit kitted out for general combat (until we get the non-customizable one that is) made the most sense, at least to me.

Long story short, yes, give me easily swappable armour options!

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

I mean I would just swap outfits anyway if I thought I was in trouble, it just completely broke the flow of combat to do so. Unlike with the weapons for the most part.

My main problem with the specialized suits is that there's no real reason to wear them. Take the Banuk Sickness Eater, for example. Corruption damage kinda sucks yeah, but if i'm taking corruption damage it means i'm within melee range of a corrupted robit. So i'm probably likely to take melee damage if I get hit, plus most things have some sort of ranged damage as well, and maybe fire and electric on top of that. Compared to all of that the corruption damage is insignificant.

There's too many types to be able to focus on one, and most robots will be doing some combination of multiple types. I have always found it better to just wear the melee or ranged armor and stack melee + ranged mods onto them then maybe take an elemental resist potion if I need to. Everything does melee or ranged damage so it's always applicable.
