Rumor mill time. Word is Gamestop employees are being told to tell customers not to expect more Switches until MK8 launches in April. Take that with a grain of salt as usual.
My Joy-Cons have never completely desynced mid-game for me but there's definitely some interference. Unfortunately it seems to be in both Joycons for me.
After last night's Zelda session I decided to give my Joycons a good testing. I sat on my couch in this position, with my right leg up on my left knee.
I then started up the calibration analog sticks option in the settings menu and crammed the left joycon into the back of my knee. Sure enough, the connection started dropping pretty badly, just as I've seen occasionally while playing Zelda.
The interesting part was that I tried it again with the right joycon and the same thing happened....so it's looking like I'll probably have to send in both joy cons to get fixed.
Before I do so I'll probably pick up a pair of joycons at a store just to test. I guess it's possible that even the fixed ones won't work in conditions where I'm basically forcing them to not work.
I didn't know the phrase for that sitting position, so I assumed the visual aid was necessary. Hell, it took me a good ten minutes to figure out what to plug into google image search to find the appropriate picture.
Let it be known that @GMaster7 is a gentleman, scholar, etc for meeting up with me to sell me his Wii U on this chilly March night.
Also he has a really nice car.
And I want everyone to know that @cooljammer00 is a kind and generous and friendly dude who is now looking for Wii U game recommendations and will soon join the Breath of the Wild club.
Neither of us turned out to be a deranged murderer, which is typically a positive thing when meeting up for in-person exchanges, but I admit that I texted @hoodie13, @BillyIdle, @NerfThatMan and @Al_wat while I was waiting in my car just in case shit went awry.
I made it home in time for delicious pizza and I'm now one step closer to securing my Switch!
Do we have a buy/sell/trade thread here on the forums? I've got a lot of old consoles, handhelds and games that I intend on liquidating by the end of the year and I'd love to put them into good homes.

Nope, I've never seen such a thread. I don't think Tube would allow such a thread to exist based simply on the possible annoyance that might result from it.

The switch has caused me to become aware of amazon scams that I just never had a way to notice before. There are all these switches listed at unlikely low prices, say, $250. Early on I would try to buy one and it would give you an error at checkout. Some, it looks like, you could actually go through the purchase with. They're all still some kind of scam though. Does anyone know what the scam IS? What are these amazon fake sellers getting?

They're actually just selling the box with a picture of a Switch inside?

That seems unlikely, because then amazon still has to give you your money back?
What is this I don't even.

I don't think that they have Amazon's needs in mind here.
If for some reason you won't be able to play Splatoon 2 yourself tomorrow, Nintendo is hosting a Treehouse Live tomorrow where they'll play during the first hour of it.
Haha. At first when I read that time I was like "Aw man I am at work during that time" then I looked over and my Switch is laying right next to me. Duh.
It's too bad that it's only hour increments at a time but it is really not a demo - it's a stress test.
Also every match is only 3 minutes long so honestly it's more time than you will need to get a good impression of the game. Last time they did this for the first Splatoon, I only played in the first time slot because I got enough out of it.
Also, last time they did this, there were connection issues and they extended the time by quite a bit, like an extra hour or more after only a half hour of problems.

I sit less than 2 feet from my switch but it's behind the screen and my desk sort of, and then also my body
I sometimes will not get a response for like, 1 second, or link will keep running or the camera keeps spinning for a second or two after I stop pushing it. it's not all the time but I always thought it was an inherent issue with LOS and the system. is this actually the left joycon issue? or just basically how they work
it has never completely desynced and every single time if I lift up my arms it fixes. I am in no hurry for a repair but I'll do it within the timeframe allowed if this is how the issue presents, I just thought the official issue was a bit more annoying

From what I understand they're getting your personal information to sell to other companies. They're aware that they'll need to send you your money back, but even if they lose out on the $250 they still have your name, address, and whatever other information is given to them through the Amazon third party sales process.

Calling it a desyncing issue is misleading since it's what you described, basically the left Joy-Con is more susceptible to interference. In all cases it never desyncs but rather loses the connection for a moment or two, enough to be noticeable.
In your situation you may or may not have the issue, even with the fix any controller is capable of having interference. If you're experiencing issues with the right Joy-Con (the camera) it's likely interference as a whole. BUT I would run through the calibration tool on the system to see if the left is worse, if it is definitely send it in. It's also possible your right has an issue, but so far they've only confirmed the left is what they're aware of.
I'm becoming increasingly skeptical of Nintendo's claims that they're being selective in curating the Switch eShop. A Neogeo game in an emulator, a game that looks like a Farmville clone, and a quick board game cash grab. This is the exact same sort of crap that makes it impossible to find anything in the 3DS eShop, two of those titles by a studio responsible for a dozen forgettable 3DS junkware titles.
Meanwhile, the Axiom Verge guy can't get a dev kit. What's Nintendo's strategy here? They're selective about who gets a dev kit, but if you have one you can just release whatever you want?
Well, to be fair, Othello / Reversi is one of those things you just kind of assume will be available on any touch screen device, it's a great time killer for "I'm going to be on this bus for the next 10 minutes" which has got to be one of the Switch's primary use cases. I expect the thing will see Minesweeper, Solitaire and Shanghai / Mahjong Solitaire games real soon too.

Othello at a Nintendo launch is practically tradition at this point.

Demand for Switch is "incredibly strong" and GameStop expects supply to be an issue for the entire year.
Its "multiple replenishments" of Switch stock have sold out within hours.
The attach rate of Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost 1:1.
Counting both games and accessories, the attach rate for Switch has been over 5.5 per unit sold. As a result, it expects to see an "attractive share" of future Switch allocations.
Purchase intent for Switch and Project Scorpio is "at PS4 levels or higher."
GameStop has had a "very successful launch so far" for Switch, which has "real potential to be Wii-like in its ability to expand the category from core to broad audiences."

I don't buy the accessory attach rate.
I could, actually. Especially since each Joycon strap would count as one.
I mean, I've already bought
-Pro Controller
-Charging joycon grip
-Hybrid Case
-2x Joycon strap
-Hori stand
-Hyperkin Travel Bag
And then got a car charger adapter coming.

Toys R Us will be restocking the Switch on Saturday. It's advised that you get there before the doors open at 9 (the way things are going you should probably get there the night before or something. That's sarcasm.. you don't have to do that....probably....maybe?):
Stores are slowly but surely adding more Switch stock. This week for example, GameStop locations across the United States had a few more units to sell.
At Toys “R” Us, Switch will be available this weekend. The retailer has confirmed than consoles will be sold again on Saturday. Due to the high demand and low stock available, customers are advised to arrive before the doors open at 9 AM.
Toys “R” Us hasn’t indicated how many units each store will receive. If possible, you may want to try calling ahead to verify with your local store that a restock is planned.
I'm sure this will shock the thread, but I can confirm Gamestop is a total shitshow.
"All gamestops will be selling on Thursday" actually means "The district manager told us and one other store to wait until Thursday, everyone else did Wednesday. Oh, also we told you have 5 and we actually have two"

TRU seems to handle these things a lot better than Gamestop does. If I were still looking for a Switch I would've ignored lamestop but I'd definitely be heading up to TRU on Sat. I'd advise getting there at least 4 hours early, 6 if you want it to be certain that you'll get one.

Is there anything online for just putting in an order for when the stupid restocking finally happens? Because if it's gonna take me months to get a Switch anyway, I'd rather just know I've got to wait instead of this stupid fucking "nobody knows when there will be more!" bullshit.
It's 2017, there is no good reason for this to be such a mystery shitshow. It's idiotic that people are having to waste their time getting to stores early, some us have to do things like, I dunno, work.

Kind of wish I'd picked up a Pro Controller when I had the chance, 99% of every damn accessory is sold out everywhere here. Best Buy had the most left, and it was just three straps, four gray joycons, and two Micro SD cards.
I need to memorialize... the day that I just had. I am officially done obsessively looking for a Switch until next week, barring the occasional istocknow check while I'm away. I don't usually post negative or self-piteous shit, but I just have to share.
Woke up this morning at 6 am to make sure I could get to Target before 8 am opening. As I'm leaving the apartment, suddenly can't find the wad of cash from @cooljammer00, which I FOR SURE left in my pants pocket last night. It's not there. I reach my hand in the pocket, no dice. Start looking everywhere else. Coat pockets. Other coats. Other pants. All drawers. Everywhere. I'm sweating now. I must have left it in the car, somehow? Take my messenger bag down to the car. Not there. I had just tied up the trash and put it out... could it be in the trash? Did I shuffle it - or did my wife shuffle it - into the trash by accident when cleaning all of the bags off of the counter? Go through the trash. Nothing. Call my wife. No idea. I check the pants pocket again - the cash was hidden under a sort of pocket fold. It's now too late to go to Target. I go back to the car. Where's my bag? Left it in the apartment. Shit. Go back up, get it, go back down. I leave for work.
Get to work at 8:30 am. Okay. I'll work until 9:40ish, then leave to hit the GameStop that's 10 minutes away. Work until 9:35, stand up to leave. Someone walks into my office. "I forgot to tell you, but the final meeting of the local bar association until autumn is at noon today. It's your induction day! You can do that, right? But you should probably change into a suit for it." Fine. I can go home and get my suit. Really should leave one at the office for days where I don't wear one but then need one. I check my watch. Come on, come on. We go back and forth with some other people in the firm about whether we should do the associate induction today or next month... almost decide next month... decide at 10 am to just go today, at noon. I leave, get to GameStop at 10:10 am, they've handed out tickets and all Switches are accounted for. I head home.
Change into my suit, fix myself up, whatever. Okay, this is the day now. You missed the morning restock rush, so just go to work, be productive, check stock every once in a while online. Connecticut continues to be a wasteland. No Walmarts, Targets, Best Buys restocking on istocknow (which shows tons of new stock in New York and is supposedly pretty reliable). 3 pm, the Walmart down the street from my former firm gets a bunch of Switches in stock. Only time since changing firms I've regretted not being in the old town. Call my nephew and try to get him to take an after-school run over there for me. He can't do it, I can't think of anyone else in the area, my parents live near there but are away, and I can't leave work. I am discouraged. But I am determined. My flight for Nashville leaves tomorrow evening. What's Craigslist look like?
There are 8 or so Craigslist Switches in my area, most of them selling for $500+, many of them bundled with other mandatory nonsense. One dude is selling his for $400, brand new, unopened. I deliberate for a long, long time and finally email him. I'm willing to pay a $100 premium. Turns out, it's a lady, not a dude. She says, instead of what the ad says, which is let's meet at a Starbucks, let's meet at a library instead, at 8 pm, right before they close. I hem and haw and finally decide, I'll do it. Or I'll at least start driving there and see what further emails reveal. If I want to get there before 8, I need to hit the road anyway.
On the way, we exchange a few emails (as I'm getting into my car, then at a rest stop when I pull off). The system still has the cover on the screen, it hasn't been removed from the box, it's brand new, and she has a gift receipt. Sounds good to me. I tell her I'm on my way and will be there at 7:45. She replies - from a different email address - with a long, sketchy and seemingly canned response that raises a bunch of red flags. "You can't check to make sure it works, you can't take it out of the box"... so far, okay, because if I decide to back out, she doesn't want to have had to remove it from the box... "and I only have a gift receipt, and if it doesn't work, you can return it to the store and get credit, you can't contact me, oh, and I'm going to get there after 8 pm, so we will have to do this in the parking lot"... just... I think she was probably legit, probably just making sure that I'm legit for the most part, but I start thinking about what happens if I'm getting scammed by two scam artists here. If I get home and this thing doesn't work, I've thrown away $400, and I can just picture myself walking into the GameStop or wherever and having me tell them that the receipt is fake and that I get nothing. I email her: sorry, I can't do this with only a gift receipt, and I actually don't want to pay $400 right now. Risk isn't worth the reward. Deal's off.
I realize I'm close to a Walmart and head there to see what's up, knowing that they won't have anything in stock. Sure enough, no Switches, rep gets irritated with me for even asking, I tool around the electronics section, ask a couple of other people, one guy says maybe show up in the morning. This Walmart is the opposite direction from my office, but I tell him, maybe. I leave.
Before I get on the highway to go home, I remember that there's a Best Buy in this town. Sure enough, it's right up the street. I go there, walk in, head to video games, decide not to ask anyone about anything because it's probably a waste, and I set up shop at the display PS4. Try some Gravity Rush 2. Demo's pretty cool... after about 10-15 minutes, I step away and walk towards the door. Run into a sales rep. I ask him, hey, I know you don't have any Switches, but can you tell me when you typically get them in? He starts laughing. I say, I know, it's a silly question. He goes, no, actually, I just got in a few and I just sold the last one literally five minutes ago. If you had asked me when you walked in here, you would have one right now.
I...
I leave. I call a few friends, send some PSN messages to some forumers. What even is today.
Decide to stop at Target on my way home, because it's near my apartment. But it's downtown, so I have to pay for parking. Do so. Head inside, they're closing up. One entrance is locked. Get through the other... nobody's on the floor anywhere remotely near the electronics section. What am I even doing? I head home.
This was a very long and very trying day. I don't really know why I put so much effort into this today. It's just a game console and I'll be able to get one without much effort in a few weeks at the latest. I think I just was caught up in an attitude of "the more I go through, the sweeter it'll be when I get it," plus my flights this weekend would have been a perfect first experience on-the-go.
@GMaster7 I think the lesson we both learned is when we get to a store, flag a clerk/look for a thing immediately, and if no dice, get the fuck out of there and head somewhere else because the world will toy with you and you will always have just missed something by a few minutes because you lingered.
I just got in a few and I just sold the last one literally five minutes ago. If you had asked me when you walked in here, you would have one right now.
*Dies*
Edit:
are you not going to TRU on sat? Because I am, and if I do get one I'll sell it to you for retail. No promises though, I'm not sure if I can get there early enough, and no I'm not going to swap it out and give you the Final Switchstination instead. That burden is mine and mine alone.

It's the Sony method. Life of Black Tigerrr
Othello at a Nintendo launch is practically tradition at this point.

Shit man, I would do things for a port of Axiom Verge for the Switch. Dark Things.
I don't buy the accessory attach rate.
I could, actually. Especially since each Joycon strap would count as one.
I mean, I've already bought
-Pro Controller
-Charging joycon grip
-Hybrid Case
-2x Joycon strap
-Hori stand
-Hyperkin Travel Bag
And then got a car charger adapter coming.

Of course those are the attach rates, they sell them in those stupid ass bundles!

It's possible they could also put some up online around the same time, but I wouldn't count on it.
