Maybe the person doing the copy thought that the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X were actually three different things and figured people would be able to figure it out? haha.
(also that thread is the worst and a good reason to avoid large subreddits and/or reddit.)
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Reddit is fine if you generally avoid the most crowded subs and never sort by controversial.

Oh no, Reddit is the worst if you browse things like all or go to it without being logged in (the default subreddits are always terrible.) Whenever I browse it I make sure I'm logged in so I only see subreddits I'm interested in.
Also, @Synthesis I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but I meant no ill harm. You do you man.

I was just having unnecessary fun at the wording of the post. It's something I do when the thread's slow on news (though truthfully, I've probably only been on Reddit a half-dozen times).
With that in mind, if your XB1 turns on into the setup screen, don't panic, it's relating to the next general update roll out (not just insider preview).

I had a system update yesterday, but not sure what it did

Playing banner saga, why o why do developers always forget that maybe it's not a good idea to have 5 minutes of unskippable dialogue and loading screens and such before a final boss battle? Put the autosave at the start of the battle!
So hey, if you're in Toronto this weekend, FanExpo Canada had a nice Xbox booth set up with Forza 7, Cuphead, Assassin's Creed, and Super Lucky's Tale (which I got to play and break), among other stuff.
They've also got a neat thing going where you sit in on a short presentation about Xbox One (which is kind of cool; I've been following the system and still learned a thing or two, including their deal with Dolby Atmos), and get a free Xbox keychain with your Gamertag laser engraved on it.

This isn't exactly news, but I thought I'd give you a quick look at what using a mouse looks like on Xbox One.
We've known for a while that Microsoft intends to bring full mouse and keyboard gameplay support to the Xbox One platform, it has always simply been a case of when rather than if. Now with Minecraft Beta on the Xbox Insider program, we're getting our first taste of what that could look like.
I shot this quick video using a Razer Hex mouse plugged in via USB, and it works exactly as you might expect. The input lag is far too prohibitive to be used in something like a first-person shooter competitively, but it's a remarkable first step for full mouse support on a video game console. Refinements are obviously on-going.
he Xbox One cursor is a bit of a giant compared to that of a Windows PC, and it works perfectly fine, including the scroll wheel. You can activate it in the options menu, clearly indicating that this on the roadmap for the "Better Together" version of Minecraft.
Microsoft has stressed that they have no plans to allow mouse support where it doesn't make sense, such as forcing controller players to compete against mouse players in competitive FPS or RTS. It does seem as though Minecraft has the ability to enable and disable mouse support at will, given the fact it can be toggled in the menu for Minecraft. This indicates that you could see scenarios where there are mouse and keyboard playlists, and controller exclusive playlists, to prevent anti-competitive behavior.
Mouse support would give the Xbox One another key differentiator against its competition, giving players even more ways to play. Naturally, it will take time to get right, but clearly Microsoft is being careful about how they implement this potentially pivotal feature. We'll have to wait and see.
I remember hearing last week when they mentioned Miencraft and thinking, "Of course, god, it's so obvious. A unified cross-platform property where multiplayer is overwhelmingly cooperative and people are accustomed to janky updates?" I can't think of a better place to test it out on console, rather than a PC version like Halo Forge.
For all I know, MS bought Minecraft just so they'd have a place to test stuff like this, and not in Gears of War, Halo, or Black Desert. Owning a franchise with its own amusement park is just a side-effect.
So I woke up to a non-responsive Xbox. I got on support chat and they had me trouble shoot some things. They said if it won't turn on it would be a service fee, but then I mentioned I'm in Preview program...
So that's cool.
But then I tried one of their reset options again and it worked: Holding down Sync and Eject, and then hitting Power. Not only did it fix it, it also fixed my disc drive? Dunno what this does but worth a shot for others with similar issues
hey, remember way back yesterday when i posted about KB&M support for Xbone? well there's even more news! Mike Ybarra spoke a bit about the issue at PAX.
At PAX, Microsoft's Mike Ybarra discussed mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One.
Mouse and keyboard support has been on the cards for quite a while, and it's drawing ever closer. Minecraft's "Better Together" beta already supports mouse and keyboard inputs to some degree, owing to Universal Windows Platform (UWP) APIs that function across all Windows 10 devices.
Xbox Platform CVP Mike Ybarra discussed mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One during a panel at PAX West this week, stating that Microsoft is taking particular care to ensure that developers are smart about when to allow the functionality.
"Keyboard and mouse support is definitely coming. We have to be very smart in how we do that. We'll leave it a lot up to developer choice. A lot of people tweet me and say "you can't do this because of fairness," and we understand that. We run two platforms; the Xbox platform, and the Windows platform.
And so, when we bring keyboard and mouse, we'll coach developers and say "look, you've got to think about your multiplayer pools, if you have a competitive game, people are probably going to want the choice to say I'll play with other keyboard and mouse people or I'll play only with controller people, or that I'll play with any of those.
So you'll see our first games supporting keyboard and mouse soon, I can't announce what that is, but soon. And based on developer interest, they'll choose to do keyboard and mouse, or not!"
There is a lot of anxiety about the inclusion of mouse support on Xbox One, primarily from players of competitive shooters. If you have a mouse, you can turn very rapidly without sacrificing aim, whereas on controller, turning up the horizontal joystick speed might make you turn faster, but you'll lose accuracy in the process. Microsoft has already been experimenting with mixed input playlists on Gears of War 4, and if Gears is any indication, the company wants to make sure players have a choice over who they compete against.
Therein lies other problems though. If every mutliplayer game on Xbox is suddenly split between keyboard and mouse vs. controller-only playlists, it could cut player pools into pieces, reducing matchmaking speeds. Microsoft will likely leave it up to developers on whether or not they implement these features, but I believe the addition, over all, is incredibly positive.
Games like Cities: Skylines would have been ported to Xbox One far quicker if the developers didn't have to rework the entire UI for controller support. There's probably a future for mouse and keyboard-only games, such as RTS' like Age of Empires, and maybe MOBAs like DOTA2 and Heroes of the Storm. And this even extends to non-gaming apps, like Office UWP. For students, an Xbox One could become a pretty solid gaming / productivity PC on a budget.
The potential here is truly massive, we'll just have to wait and see whether developers bite or not.
so there you go, its coming but implementation will be down to the game or the dev in question.
It's hard to imagine it any other way. People got pissy about Microsoft's platform requirement for custom soundtrack support on the Xbox 360. Actual keyboard and mouse support is an entirely different, and far huger, beast that radically changes gameplay.

Man, I wish they had kept that from the oXbox. Just with some kind of exception process in place if a company had a really good reason for not having it in place. Plenty of games have some pretty uninspired, and pretty unimportant (thematically) music. It'd be nice to be able to toss in custom music in its place as opposed to just turning it down/off and playing your own outside of the game.

Way before the Xbox One came out (without having it), one defense of not having it--people defending the absence or removal of a feature, go figure--was that it would potentially allow an audience to bypass the creator's original musical vision for a game.

Yeah, that was the excuse.
Yes, I remember that with JSRF.
And I honestly don't mind that.
But there's so many games out there with completely uninspired music. And more than just being uninspired, it has no real tie in with the game... there's no swelling musical scores timed to hit at just the right key moments, etc.
It's little more than a radio playing alongside the game... if even that.
And on an unrelated note.
Got the torx screwdriver to open up my Elite controller. The left stick seemed to not be fully attached to the piece below it. I couldn't pull up the right stick at all, but the left would slide right off the bottom without any effort at all.
Looks like that was allowing it to "slide" and mess up its ability to accurately register movements.
I put a tiny little bit of hot glue at the top (took a lot of tries to get it right), which allowed me to wedge the whole thing down super snug and tight.
Now it doesn't move at all, and feels just like the right analog stick.
No more drift issues or anything and it's finally the controller it should have been to me.
Getting the grip covers off on mine was not anywhere near as easy as the video I saw led me to believe. That or they had fingernails of steel. Mine were almost torn off when I tried it the way they showed. I had to get several flat tools to slowly pry each off carefully (to avoid damage).

As I recall Marty O'Donnell of Bungie hated the feature, which is why if you used a custom soundtrack on Halo 3 it cut all the dialogue as well. Marty was adamant you either listened to his music or you got nothing.

I can respect that--and Martin O'Donnell, as much as anyone in the industry, deserves his music to be heard.
But the notion that the feature shouldn't exist because the player doesn't deserve the choice is absurd. The next logical step was giving the game a way to disable the volume controls on your television at "important moments."

True enough, but nothing wrong with giving them the ability to disable the feature when there's certain key thematic moments the score helps to make stand out.
But when just milling about in the level killing things? No real need to have arranged musical scores.
Fuck that noise. If I wanna replace the real score with my own music, that's my personal choice. If I want to play Halo 3, split-screened with amateur porn while listening to smooth jazz and munching on sharp cheddar cheese sticks, that shouldn't be any of his concern.

This reminds me of how if you play score mode in Halo 5, it skips all cutscenes without asking you. I find childish design decisions tiresome.

I don't think that one's trying to spite the player, I think that's probably thinking you're playing to shoot mans and not for the story so you were gonna skip the cutscenes anyway. I actually like that decision.
It can be an option in the same menu that lets you turn on scoring. I like the cutscenes and the scoring. I shouldn't need that little kid GIF, why not both?
Major Nelson: "Do we have a timeline on gifting and wishlists from the Store team yet?
Mike Ybarra: "I would say one of those is "very soon," and the other thing is on the list of things we need to get to. And we understand the --"
Major Nelson: And we can't tell you which one. But we know that's what fans and customers want out of a modern store. Absolutely. But we've got a massive scale to deal with, but we're going to get there. Just bear with us."
those will be some nice additions, shame it seems that they wont be launching at the same time.
