To be honest them removing the split screen TV mode really killed the way I used the Xbox.
Okay, I THOUGHT that was a thing. When did they remove it? Before Christmas 2015? Because I'd probably play more if I could do that while WWE is playing alongside it.
Hoping they add keyboard and mouse support to the Halo Wars games. I don't like the controller scheme so much and went to try it on my computer, but it's not strong enough to handle it, so I just haven't played. Plus I prefer to play on my TV, anyway.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
So I finally started Recore, and I may have encountered a game-breaking glitch. I entered a room and the door locked behind me and a bunch of enemies spawned. Normal stuff, but I screwed up, died, and respawned outside of the room. With the door still closed.
I don't care as much about gifting (I could just gift someone a game code from Amazon or more likely a Microsoft wallet card card if I wanted to to that and probably still will), but wishlist is big to me. A lot of smaller more indie games tend to pop on my radar and be forgotten before I get around to buying them, this offers a way to keep them on my list and track them for sales.

hopefully the wishlist feature will also notify you when the games on it go on same. that's how it works on Steam and GOG so wouldn't expect MS to be aiming for similar functionality.
Played Cuphead and Super Lucky's Tale at PAX just now.
Cuphead is as hard as you've heard. Me and the guy I was playing with couldn't even finish the first level after three tries. I think it's "doable" but I'm still not sure if it's the fun kind of doable.
Super Lucky's Tale is pretty much what you'd expect. A kind of generic 3d platformer. It controls well enough, though lucky feels a tad slow. Nothing really stands out about it.
The line for Lucky's tale was, surprisingly, way longer than the Cuphead line, though they were capping that line pretty short. Also there was a crane game after you played that had Lucky plushies and pins in it, so that might have had something to do with it.
I've learned, humorously, that Tales from the Borderlands (besides being the one Telltale game that I think I'd actually be willing to pay to play more of presently, despite not having really liked what I played of the first Borderlands) is about $5 cheaper ($10) on Amazon.com for a physical copy than it is from the Xbox One store.
Even more humorously, it's $6.50 on eBay, with free shipping. I'd blame the pricing structure on the Xbox Store, but PS4 and PS3 digital codes are also hilariously overpriced compared to the physical discs.
There's some kind of lesson in this, I'm sure.

I mean isn't that the norm? Games stay eternally at launch price on the console digital stores when you can go to GameStop and get the same game for like half the price?

It's really expensive making sure you can't resell those digital copies okay.

Well damn, that sounded like the scene at Fan Expo -- right up until the crane game part. D=

I totally got one of those plushies. I'm super happy about it and I don't know why.
Super Lucky Tale just looks so generic. For some reason I always see it and think "Why haven't we gotten a god damn Conker sequel??" and then I get PTSD because of Yooka Laylee... ugh
Hey, so quick opinions: Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, or Minecraft for an Xbox One S bundle? I think I'm going to take advantage of the Microsoft Store bundle deal with two free games (Destiny 2 double-dip for the win?) tomorrow. The second free game selection is weak, so whatever. I haven't played a racing game since Burnout Paradise (which I know Forza is not), haven't played a Gears since 2, and haven't played more than the demo of Minecraft on PC.

Horizon 3 is maybe the best game on the entire system so.. definitely get that
For gears vs minecraft it's really going to depend on what you want out of a game.
This might tilt your decision if you haven't gone and made it yet: Forza 5 is a Game With Gold right now. Not the same as Horizon 3, but if she likes any kind of racing, there you go.

You already said your wife likes Driving cars around. If you enjoy that as well, then Horizon is the clear winner.
I'd go for Gears as a second choice, and Minecraft only if you have an inordinate love for it yet don't already play it on PC for some reason.
The xb1 version is fine (I have it), but wouldn't pick it over the other 2 games.
Horizon 3 is gorgeous (easily tied for the best looking racing game on any console) and, unlike the only other game that looks as good as it, a lot more approachable than Motorsport 6.
I won't play it because I don't play that genre of game anymore (I am all simulation racing now), but it's very, very easy to recommend. Gears of War 4 and Minecraft are at almost opposite ends of the spectrum, though if you're not in an actual Minecraft playing group as it is, I think GOW4 is a more solid choice, since the single-player experience is incredibly robust and fun (if not super long). By contrast, if you liked trekking about in Minecraft, you'd already know, if you don't, playing it alone isn't going to change your mind on that.

I was looking at the design lab controllers again after all that hype a few months about the new colors/metallic BUT only the triggers and the d-pad can be given a metallic look, and the buttons are still either white/gray/black or the RGBY letters.
Really diminished me wanting to order a new one, I'll just use my backup white one that came with the S until it's nubbed.

Damn this is a good deal. I'm in the market for a One S, and was wanting to wait a couple months, but a 1TB special edition Battlefield 1 console with destiny 2 for $250 (Forza is $300) is hard to pass up...

I've always been disappointed that they don't offer the Elite controller as an option in there.
I'd love to be able to customize one of those through the design lab. They could include all sorts of interesting extra options there to try and make it a more attractive up sell for people.

While gifting would be a fun addition, there have been too many Xbox profile hacking, and it would have been worse we're gifting involved. I'm also fine with the digital Xbox gift card from Amazon and send it to a friend.
While I agree that being insensitive is an issue, so is being oversensitive.

I'd be happy if a lot more digital games were available as physical cards, either from Amazon or, more realistically the MS store place, to be used for birthday gifts, etc. But besides being something of a niche request (I assume), I'm sure people would Microsoft for "wasting time" on adding a physical dimension to the digital marketplace.

Maybe a little, but it's pretty solid and does have a unique mechanic in burrowing. I think Xbox needs more of this type of game in general, so if it's solid, I'm willing to cut it some slack.

Don't get me wrong, it's a charming game. Thw character design just reminds me of Conker so I always get sad, plus the ridiculous Project Spark DLC thing.
There a way to get directly into the saved games section of your cloud storage? I think that's where most of my space has been consumed...
edit: as in, to mass delete/move things w/o loading each individual game.

Anyone else in the preview beta ring lose their ready to install games? I game share with a friend and it looks like I can now just see the games he has and all of mine don't show ready to install? Searching for the game I want to install on the store works as it shows I own it. But my library seems hidden.
I'm not in the preview program but I currently can't install games, it just says installation stopped over and over. I'm fully updated and my hard drive has plent of space
Ok apparently it's just one game I just bought, Tacoma

I am--I got the new UI a few days ago--and I haven't run into that yet. Definitely something to log in the Inside app.
I'm still getting used to the UI. I like the guide popup a good bit more, but I'm not sure how I feel about the main interface. It's good that they show as much, or more, information while leaving more of my background visible, but that's not really high praise.

Every so often, individual games will just...plotz like that. It goes away in time (you can also try a "hard" restart).
I have mastercard debit gift card with some money from a refund on it. Can I use it for a split payment on the console storefront or do I need to run somewhere and convert it to a microsoft giftcard?

Should work, the only snag is sometimes it requires a name on the card or a pin. If you can, set up the card on the Mastercard site with your info. When you go to check out you can select more than one payment option.
btw, has anyone else run into an issue where games randomly crash in the period leading up to the splash prompt (where it says press A/Start/etc to begin)? It seems to happen when I switch games...

I've gotten this a few times. Never in the middle of a game, but while loading it I think. I want to say it's happened a few times while using the bluray app and maybe Madden. It just sends me back to the home screen (outside of the game). I'm not in the preview program btw.

Rarely. When I start seeing weird things like that happen, I check for an update and/or do a full cold start of it. Cortana just spinning and not listening to commands, too, same thing.
Can also try manually quitting A before launching B; I think sometimes the games don't listen too well to being shut down.

Indeed. This could also motivate Sony to add the feature to PSN which would be nice.
This would pretty much eliminate my request for XBL to offer you a way to buy a code without using it--which would've led to rampant reselling anyway.

It's like that, except UWP, without ads, and the interface sucks less. :snap:
