Fought a legendary necro-tank. Death Defying/Immune to Range/Immune to fire/Enraged by finishers/Enraged by fire/Enraged by Caragors/Explosive/Teleporter... effing dark souls boss.
I lost to him six times... he chose to humiliate me six times. By the seventh attempt he was level 22 (I was level 5). But I've never been so determined to kill a mob in a video game.
Worth it. I got a legendary dagger that applies poison and does 69% (Nice) increased damage to poisoned targets.
Thanks Noruk'hag the Undying, you shit. I'm sure I'll see you again because of the whole "Necromancer keeps bringing me back" trope.
And I hope he does come back. I will enjoy kicking his teeth in over and over until I beat this damn game.

I dominated a low-level captain that has a weakness of fleeing in terror at the sight of the bright lord, so every time he sees me he says "sup" and then immediately starts screaming and runs away. I'm just going to keep him around because it's so damn funny every time.
I've got one like that too, Skull, I think he got "the Survivor" added on after our second run in. He's missing an eye from an arrow, one leg (possibly two after the last kill), and got bisected at least once so far. Tackled me in the middle of a fight with two others yesterday, then ran away when I set him on fire. Wuss.
Hey the game says I kill him, so I dunno. At least the time I sliced him in half would definitely be a kill... not sure how he came back with legs attached. Maybe he just sewed em back on? At any rate, he's getting drafted into my army the next time I see him.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I'm on the quest where you learn the elven rage ability and can't complete all the bonus objectives. Barely can kill enemies fast enough to fill my wraith meter, and once I trigger it I don't see how I can kill 10 orcs in one shot. It says to repeatedly press attack, but when I activate it I draw my bow and have to hold attack to get a kill to trigger.
For building up the wraith bar, I ran around the corner and there was a bundle of arrows. Then I just started head shotting dudes because in those missions you get a crapton of rapidly regenerating Focus so bow shots are easy. A few headshot instant kills should do it.
Then once your bar is full, run back into the street so there are a ton of guys around, activate Elven Rage, then just keep clicking (or whatever the primary attack button is on console) while holding forward or whatever direction the bad guys are in. Should murder a ton of them for sweet success.
Started playing this last night. Fun times. Definitely has that "just one more Captain/mission/collectible" feel down pat. I like and don't like and am amused by the towers in this game working exactly like the balloons in Mad Max for unlocking collectibles on the map.
The story, it's alright so far. Granted, I'm at the very beginning.
Beginning cutscene spoilers:
I did go Wat at Shelob, but I'm interested to see where the game goes from here. I knew going in that I was not going to get a true to book lore Lord of the Ring's game.
Already died to one captain but I took my revenge. I killed him with an arrow to the eye firing through a crowd in front of him, so that was suitably cinematic.
Combat feels like more of the first game, I feel like I'm in for a good time.
Yeah I'm loving this. Only just finished The Bright Lord DLC yesterday and went straight into part 2 so turned up the difficulty to Nemesis. Got murdered many times but soon got the hang of it.
Haven't hit the fortress stuff yet, but so far it's like the first game with double the Captain Density! Love it!
Also I wished they kept the list view on orc captain intel strengths/weaknesses. Putting them in small menus you have to scroll through is tedious. All the various equipment, skill, map menus and screens just seem difficult to navigate compared to the first game.
For Elven Rage, I literally just mash square and spin the stick around (or back and forth if in a hallway I guess).
A lot of my weapons have poison which ends up melting a captain here or there. This fellow died and came back, but still had some issues...
Okay dude, I get it, you're insane. He was previously 'the Fire Wielder' or something, but being killed by horrid poison awoke his fetish for horrid poison.
Sure, you use poison everything, got it.
Oh, oh buddy this is tragic...
He surprisingly didn't immediately scare himself out of the fight.
I've started getting little hypemen along with my captains. The captain says their thing, and then this littler orc will come from behind him like "Yeah, he's gonna whoop your ass!"

my stars that's like an after school special waiting to happen

Yeah! Actually pulled a photo of one of those when I pulled my poison duder photos:
Wow, yeah, I guess I'll stop breaking everything I don't use down! I've only died once, though, and that was in a story mission. I imagine that the captains will get tougher and tougher as the levels go up, though.

I don't thing the game even gives you the option to break down purples. At least, I know there's no option to break down that worthless lv4 Brightlord armor. I'm hoping there's some sort of infusion mechanic introduced down the line.

To be fair, once you start getting the purple weapons you should hold on to all of them since they have upgrade quests and set bonuses.
yeah its just the standard gear i've been getting rid of but there's a few slots where i don't have many options yet. will need to keep a few decent pieces of each till i build up collections.
Did they make it easier to get intel from worms? Before I remember having to carefully stalk the area and isolate a green dude to get info but now it seems I can just run up to him in a crowd and drain/interrogate him on the spot without interruption.
I got ambushed 3 times in a row last night. One right after another. What should have been a 2 minute run to collect an artifact turned into a 20 minute bar fight w/ bombs and automatic fire crossbows to which I barely escaped alive.
If you want some quick back up purples do the online vendettas and avenge some friends all sneaky like.
I still haven't seen an online vendetta yet.
How far are you, and did you opt out of the EULA?
I made it to the second area Tuesday, and then when I booted up the game last night I got a "Vendetta missions are available now" message. Doesn't seem to be limited to your friends either. I've been avenging randos.

2nd area, I'm pretty sure I agreed. Is there a place to check that?
Weird. You can check somewhere in the options menu I believe. Though, you would've had a big warning message pop up that you can't do Vendettas and the like if you don't agree, so you probably did.

So, I caved like a little bitch, made a charity donation, bought game.
The nemesis system is like... remember how the nemesis system was a huge leap forward? This is like that same leap, almost. There's so much shit here I never saw in Mordor.
One guy came back from the dead after I had branded him. Something the Unashamed. He had taken being branded badly, and decked himself out with white paint handprints all over his body. "You can't own me!" To which I was like
bae when u play hard 2 get...
Then I ran into another guy that I had cut into pieces, and they had literally bolted him back together and turned him into Frankenstein Robocop, skeletal metal legs and shit, and he started off by screaming at me how I had awoken 'The Machine.'
He had Iron Will, so I couldn't recruit him at that moment. I'm going to try to Shame him and see if I can get rid of that modifier. Iron Will is probably the one fly in the ointment gameplay wise, because the possibility of a treasured captain going turncoat and possibly not being able to recover them after you've gotten so attached sucks.
Bruz is best. Not much else to say there.
Shelob thing was overblown. The game is pretty explicit about her using the form to manipulate Talion.
I'm playing on Nemesis - been a challenge in some places, died a few times, usually my fault though. One thing I didn't understand yesterday, though, was how to capture a point. I feel like I must-have missed a tooltip, because that bar filled and I stayed in it and... nothing happened. Then I went off to fill the second point, and again, nothing. Am I supposed to hit a button to plant a flag, or...? Going to try again once I get home from work.

This has happened to me, but it was my own fault. I had a pretty good orc in my employ who had developed and iron will and then went after his blood brother.
Had to kill him and then branded his blood brother, but it's over all downgrade (and tragedy)

Um, Skull....I see the problem

Had to buy some loots chests with mirian to get another decent sword.
You do get the sword back if you kill the orc that broke the sword though.
is it just the sword or can it be anything equipped?

Which is nice because there seems to be so many more captains about (But more worms too).
This game is pretty great.
Hoping the orc will say something about you not seeing his attack when you go for revenge.
You never had to Brand them. But in this game they actually run once they see you too so that sucks.
I still haven't seen an online vendetta yet.
was a troll during a story mission, same thing happened in the 2nd attempt but at least i was prepared for it that time.

That doesn't make adding another objectified woman to a medium that's chock a block full of them ok.
edit: plus giant spiders need luvin' too

Killed one, the other I've poisoned, burnt, shamed, assasinated, thrown of a cliff and still he keeps coming.
He is now practically bionic and he's back again 3 more levels higher.
Quick question does any know what the champion pit fights unlock...I've completed them several times but got no confirmation of unlocking anything.
