This is my new thing, apparently. Just got into it a couple weeks back. @Magus` just sent a request, so expect one from Dannage with a max awakened Rain.
Yeah I've been leveling the mech mage from the previous event because I didn't really have anyone else to pump larlars into. I don't know if she'll be worth my time but it'd be fun to put her in my arena group for shits.
I completed both Fire Beam and Blizzard Beam just for fun. I also can't bring myself to get rid of Biggs/Wedge. They die so often that I don't want to contribute to that death toll.
I was so close to dealing with the Trial.. and then messed up my turn order and got RHMs Noctis blown away :bigfrown:
But Yay for 2 Y'Shtolas, and more than 5 of all the other event units, I'm keeping 5 of Yda and Papalymo around for a bit, toss them into the TMR farm, decide down the line if I want to farm up 5 of their rewards or if I want to fuse them after they get some trust.
In general you will want to merge them, and not farm their TMRs. Their TMRs are "just OK" compared to other units, although they are good to have, and what is typically done with these raid reward units is merge them together to get their TMRs. For example, you've got, after only 3 days, more than 5 of each Yda and Papalymo, and the raid continues for 14 days. That means that you'll likely get at least 20 to 30 of each 4-star unit even if you're not really trying.
You can't stack Yda's TMR, and Papalymo's is for mages. In addition, they come back in a couple months for the next FFIV raid!
So, don't waste your TMR farming resources on them. Get a couple of their TMRs from merging and then if you have leftovers, just wait until the next raid.

Yes. First raid got me double digits in Thancred TMRs. This one already got me one and I only did a couple 5000 pulls (granted I did have a mostly done Thancred from Ifrit raid).
Keep the TMRs though, since we will likely in the future get the ability to craft them into enhanced versions. And by future, I mean JP just got this ability. Thancreds TMR goes from 10% ATK/HP to 15% ATK/HP which is really nice for essentially free TMRs.
Oh I really yearn to be free of this game. I sometimes imagine what it would look like if I had free time in the morning.
I gave up arena and feel pretty good about it still. I suppose I could do the 5x/day for the bonuses but even that I'm fine skipping for a while. That said i have a ton of coins/tickets/saved up pots and don't feel I need it for a long time anyway.

I pretty much just do the minimum 5 per day Arena for the rewards, and that's usually sufficient to get the 10% Moogle. My desire to do more than that died after I finally got the 100 streak trophy.

Yeah 5 is my max a day. Sometimes I don't even get that much... If I have to do the Coliseum for my daily quest then I usually just do the two arena fights and be done with it.
So I can only get Fryevia+Fryevia to chain completely and reliably on my phone about 10% of the time. I recorded a MeMu macro where I press 3, then 6 (I've got party positions 1-6 hotkeyed) and set up the macro to run once at 4x acceleration. Boom, every time now I get a perfect 27 chain of two dual-wielding Fryevias.
There's only a 2 frame window where you can get the 27-chain, and it's nearly impossible otherwise.

A completely nonscientific test of roughly equivalent (realistically stronger) Orlandu's vs Fryevias and I get a good bit more damage on the raid with Fryevia. Maybe his spirit is just lower, didn't check. I can kill him with just 2 Fryevia even if the chain doesn't work which is nice, but would be way more inclined to use her if I didn't have to macro to chain consistently.

Oh hey, I just got my first rainbow pull from the raid summon. Y'shtola.
Y'shtola is going to be your best healer unless you happened to pull Rem, or if you have a Refia and a Dualcast for her. Y'shtola has native Dualcast, which is extremely helpful, plus Curaja + Esuna + Raise, and she can buff party DEF or SPR as well. She even has some offensive magic and an ability that zeroes out her SPR in favor of massively boosted MAG.
Y'shtola is an amazing healer out of the box with innate dualcast and her LB is straight damage mitigation. You'll need to give her an accessory/materia to ensure that she won't get hit with the disabling status effects (stone, confuse, paralyze). Also, be sure to get enough of her awakening materials from the raid to get her to 6*, since those materials are only available from the raid.
In reference to Titan in the raid, his SPR and DEF are equivalent. I think you may be seeing more damage from Fryevia, even with lower stats, due to how MAG is calculated in DW as opposed to ATK. ATK is calculated as such (from the wiki, bold mine):
For example: A unit with base ATK of 200 wields 100 ATK weapon and 50 ATK weapon
The stats will show 350 ATK, but this rating is not used in any damage calculation. Any physical skill (except limit bursts) will attack first with 300 ATK and then with 250 ATK.
But, apparently, for Hybrid or MAG based physical attacks (like Sunbeam) your full MAG value is used for each attack. So if you have 2x Fry's Needle, you're getting the full (base MAG) + 224MAG for each attack.
At least that's what I've seen posted elsewhere, I haven't looked too hard into it yet.
As soon as this stupid vortex shits out one last Support Giancryst for me (grumble grumble) I'll go back through Giant of Babel for the sweet sweet Lapis. Also at the time I wasn't able to beat Golbez, so that 10% Moogle is ripe for the picking.
Haha, Wilhelm is the perfect fit for my Ring of the Lucii. He doesn't have a lot of MP and his ability use can drain it pretty fast, but he's taking tons of hits usually and the Holy procs restore a bunch of mana. Someone on a youtube comment mentioned that his Eye For An Eye (doubles Counter rate) affects Holy procs, which I'm trying to confirm.
That's a great idea for Wilhelm. I assume Xon's TMR could be a budget version of that with Snack, but since there's a variety of things that could proc (including a DEF debuff...) it's less than ideal.

6.1k HP, 500 DEF, 282 SPR, with 25% evade and 60% Counter (and apparently 50% Counter Holy, which restores 60mp per activation thanks to Man-Eater from Diabolos.) And that's with pretty weak Materia equipped, and no SPR from the shield slot. Wilhelm is a beast.

I still kind of want to pull for a Wilhelm, but I lack a Noctis so I don't have the Ring of the Lucii.
Ring of the Lucii is certainly not required, but a source of MP Regen is. He lacks Auto-Refresh, so you'll want a Ling (who works great with him, with her Breaks to his Buffs), or a Soluna Band accessory, or something.
As with all base 5* units, he's not required for any content. I didn't spend money (apart from that $12 bundle a while back, some of which lapis went towards daily pulls), but I did throw every ticket I had at the banner.

I've done 2 11 pulls and used all the tickets I had at the time on the banner. I've got a single Abel, 3 Graces, and 3 Jeans from the banner. That's it for a whole lot of pulls. I've been doing the dailies as well. I just like his appearance and he seems like a nice upgrade to Cecil (who doesn't even leave the bench sometimes now).
To be fair my teams don't really need a tank better than Cecil typically. I've got Ling, Two Orlandeus, Fry, Olive, and a few other 5 stars that don't see much usage. Tank is really the only area (other then maybe healer? but Refia and Y'shtola cover that fine) that doesn't have a good solid beef option.
