Right now in TPS I've started the raid to take back Helios. After I rescued some people, Jack killed them all because he suspected there was a traitor among the group. Lilith didn't say "oh shit, that was fucked up and unnecessary." She said, and I quote, it was the sexiest thing ever.
I'm assuming you were playing with Nisha because that's HER reaction to what Jack did. Lilith's very much not aroused and tries to protest when Roland seemingly acts fine with what happened.
Yeah, Lilith is someone who wants to do the right thing but only mostly succeeds. So sure, she'll save some people from a murder cult, but she'll murder people (or have someone murder people) to do it.
Just keep in mind that life on Pandora (and in the Borderlands Universe) is pretty cheap. The only real good people are probably the ones that haven't been alive long enough yet.

Damn I like how that quote stuck out in your mind so much you misattributed so soon after hearing it. Almost like you were looking to justify your hate on for Lilith.
That seems a bit unessecary Henroid is just playing through TPS the first time
Yeah but they said they just played through that part and they still managed to mess it up. I agree that all the vault hunters except possibly Roland are insane people, I just don't see why they feel the need to single out Lilith. Brick is the head of a bandit gang that robs, murders, rapes, and probably eats people. The game never even comments on it.
I love lilith, I love tiny Tina, I love everyone in the first two games because it's an insane fable about horrible people being horrible to horrible people in a horrible planet that couldn't even exist in the first place. This story and setting and characters are so far gone that they're not even parables for the real world or anything like that. It's all very very stupid in a great way.
Also, I'm usually the first in line to hate meme/reference based fiction. I fucking hate Seth McFarlane and everything he ever made. Maybe I'll watch Orville one day, but I wish Family guy and all those other cartoons would be jettisoned into the sun. I despise Ready Player One and I get sad everytime someone I remotely like says they like it.
But I'm 100% fine with BL2 and Burch. It's pretty fine. He is funny. Ash is an amazing VA. Burch brother did what he set out to do very well.
Disclaimer: It's ok and perfectly valid to dislike it, too. no one is under any obligation to enjoy it or anything else.
But still, I'm with josh... this series is exactly what it wanted itself to be.
So I reinstalled BL2 to try and finish it, since the trailer for 3 got me hyped because I'm a stupid sucker. I picked Axton for this attempt, any suggestions for builds for him?

Ok so Start with the left tree first. You want those boosts early on.
Center tree is a lot of kill skills you wont need until you're stronger

I boosted my turrets at every chance. Once you can unlock missiles and slag bullets and double turrets you can pretty much nap through the first playthrough.

I'm actually impressed with TPS' design of Helios station. I have a feeling I'm far from done with it but it's so fucking huge, but appropriately so.
Like in a lot of video games they give you a sort of cliff notes version of what places look like, like towns will be 3 buildings big and that kinda shit. Even Borderlands does that in general. But Helios station, ever section is built to like... make sense. You're not exploring the whole of every section by any stretch, and every area has detail that makes sense.

I played a bit of TPS with a friend tonight and was reminded of something the series needs, again from Diablo 3.
If you see loot drop, it's yours, everyone is having their own loot drop.
Honestly, I really liked every one of the borderlands games, since each one had their own sort of vibe and charm.
BL introduces us to the world and it's inherent absurdity. True, character balance was completely fucked with lilith and mordecai being op as shit while roland's turret felt like it was firing nerf darts but overall the game was a hoot and a solid proof of concept.
BL 2 was the perfect sequel; it addressed the issues with the first game, improved upon what people loved and told an amazing story in it's own right with quite possibly the greatest villain/antagonist in video game history.
PS is interesting to me because it brought a lot of neat mechanics (lasers, oxygen, low gravity) and perspective to the characters and watching Jack slide from being a semi-decent human being into an increasingly paranoid and psychotic monster is truly fascinating.
Now, assuming gearbox has read the room and taken stock of how people have responded to the subgenre they basically perfected and others have tried to emulate I really do think we can expect something truly spectacular from them.

BL3 is definitely going to be a true test for Gearbox, because this is the longest they've spent developing a game in the franchise so far. Five years, give or take some months. I'm very interested to see if they used the time wisely.
Going back to BL2, I got a chance to play Zer0 (melee build) in multiplayer tonight and it was pretty damn fun. I dunno how much it holds up in the next difficulty but I doubt we'll be going to that mode.
Edit - Oh yeah, bit more RE: Jack in TPS. Everything that's supposed to make him a "good guy gone bad" lasts only on the game's introduction. And MAYBE that one scene with the Meriff. But everything else after that, Jack is impatient, is a smartass to everyone, and has no regard for others (including employees of his). And I haven't even reached the breaking point yet!
I found the shift station in Concordia, and now have 75 keys from the accumulated bonuses Gearbox has been throwing out over the past years
First out of the gold crate was a rocket launcher that's worse than the one I've had for three levels
Hooray
Yeah you won't get much outta the shift box.
However the one in Remaster is described as having legendaries ( and other stuff)at least
handful of new guns are being added. Six "named, custom-skinned" Legendary-tier weapons will be available as drops from bosses or through the use of Golden Keys. Those keys tie into the Shift rewards system, which lets you cash in keys for "special in-game items and rewards" similar to later games in the series. If you've played Borderlands 2 or The Pre-Sequel on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, you'll be entitled to 75 Golden Keys for free here, as well as two "randomly selected" new weapons.

I don't remember who asked but someone was curious about the Maelstrom tree with Athena. It works. I'd argue that it's not the first tree to go down, I bumped the Aspis up first, but that tree combined with the right elemental guns knocked just about anything on it's ass. Often and vigorously.

Also, I didn't know about the Shift website until a few days ago. That makes entering codes so much easier!
I never even bothered with them because they are a hassle to enter on console.
(Yes, I suck.)
Any indication BL3 might have an enemy-highlighting? I’m not as terrible at Destiny, for reference.

We havent really seen any actual in game combat yet but the character models seem better defined?
It's cool, dude. I myself felt that Nisha was sounding a bit like Lilith there.

They already do this for currency drops so I wouldnt mind if at the very least if everyone got an orange when it dropped yeah.
On that point either fix the prices or give us more currency when it drops.

In my experience it is junk pistols 99 percent of the time
But
It can also be a worthless fucking E tech sniper
That might convince me to respec some points into Nisha's pistol tree, at least
