I can't find anything about when the legacy league ends, am I just terrible? I've been patiently waiting for the expansion to start playing again, but I saw some mention about the end of the league... Are they launching a new league on August 4th?
They will launch a new league on August 4th.
Typically, the leagues that accompany major expansions have minimal wrinkles on top of the base game - they want the new content to shine through without being obscured by some wacky league mechanic.
I'm going to be on vacation until the 5th but I may be interested in coming back into PoE (getting itchy to play an arpg again). My only real complaint (other than the trading system being annoying) is that the game can feel very lonely at times since I don't usually like playing with randos and I'm not in the clan anymore.

Hit me up for a group any time, my steam id is in my sig.
Planning to start a new character when the league hits so if you start something new I'll be right there with you.
In the lag time started messing around with builds. Most likely been tried before but with no internet searching. I tend to stall out on my own builds at some point with not thinking about one thing or the other that destroys the build overall.
So went full tank in this one. Max health and armor. Max stun enemy stun (so mace nodes, shield nodes), endurance charges and ground slam. Herald of Ice for reflect protection. Ancestral Protector.
Simple. Effective. Destroyed normal Lab. Destroyed normal Mal. Working on cruel as of last night just stunlocking everything.
Stunlocking looks like it'll be extremely effective in 3.0 with the new support gems and the right build
I havent done the math. I imagine the scaling will be hard to keep up with but so far it has worked on pretty much everything. I am on act 3 cruel as of last night.

Beat act 4 normal with my Templar, started plowing through Act 1 cruel right away. It's like night and day compared to my previous characters. Cruel felt like a struggle with them, probably because they really need better weapons, but my Templar is a mage with a very well socketed staff and storm call just rips through everything.
I think I will have to craft some a few new pieces at some point. It's really hard when weapons don't have the slots you need.

If I am trying to write my own item filter scripts it's probably safe to say I'm in pretty deep.
If I am trying to write my own item filter scripts it's probably safe to say I'm in pretty deep.
Have you looked into FilterBlade? I haven't yet as I'm taking a break until 3.0 but a streamer I follow has been talking about it a bunch
I have not. I'll look into it, but I'm kinda curious about just getting the scripting right for this one.
I started with a simple one: hide all items below Magic rarity except for normal items with at least 5% quality.
But it's over inclusive and seems to hide literally everything except those two categories. Like, no currency, gems, nothing. So I guess I'll have to add more categories to make sure I'm seeing everything I need.
Also I finished Uber Lab on my sunder machine without sweating (finally found that last damn node) and got a Vaal Haste out of it at 17% superior woot!
Early on but this is pretty legit. Only thing I dislike is no filtering in it right now. Starting over though so no need but upper levels that will be a pain.
I'm playing a duelist and I've probably already gimped the character but I'm enjoying the gameplay if only hoping "please don't have screwed up my points."
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

First character is a learning experience in this regard, don't sweat it too much. Take all the life nodes within close reach of your intended path and it'll be hard for you to fuck up too badly.
A good rule of thumb until the new expansion drops is you should try to have about 1000 life per playthrough. So end of normal you should try to have at least 1000, end of cruel have 2000, etc. Before facing Piety, try to have resistances capped. It's not a hard and fast rule, but it's a good gauge. Have 3600-4000 life and capped resists before attempting maps.
The rule of thumb for your damage is you should be killing most normal enemies in very few hits, and rare enemies should take 10-20 seconds. If it's taking a lot longer than that, then your build either hasn't come online yet or you messed up somehow.
Xbox seems fine?
There's definitely some weirdness with targeting, though. Contagion and Magma Orb are going way past the enemies I'm targeting. Also, the game needs a target lock button.

I'd recommend going for NeverSinks or something. It's written in a way that even if a patch adds new items, they won't get filtered out. It will also highlight items in different colours for you. Sometimes it'll help you figure out some vendor loot. It colours/highlights chrome items, 6 sockets, high quality anything.
ALSO, I remember starting out and gathering quality armor/weapons in a stash tab and vendoring em. It feels to me to be a total waste now. The biggest possible sink for em was 6 socketing/linking if you were into that, it used to consume quality on every orb. Now, you only need enough to last all your gear swaps at endgame, which is fast. I'm mostly vendoring em for more wisdom scrolls.
Ok, to be fair there is the cartographer chisel recipe, you need whetstones for that one. But I'd still say it's not worth picking up quality armour/weapons. Quality flasks, eeh probably worth if you can be bothered. Gems are def worth it if they have quality.

It takes seconds to fill your inventory with the jewelry and boots/belts/helmets/gloves you were going to pickup anyway during the course of a map, toss them into a tab, and then occasionally skip that and instead just pickup 6 body armours/two-handed weapons. Then, every so often, you empty those two tabs.
Chaos recipe is bait. The time you spend looking for specific pieces of sets is better spent just killing more stuff
I disagree. I grab all jewelery and 3-slot weapons, and shove them into tabs. Other stuff is just from random pickups and dumps into dump tabs. It takes me no time to do two unid recipes at a time.
*Edit*
The recipe is one piece of equipment for each slot of the following levels gives one currency as follows, +1 for unid, +1 for all 20 quality (not worth).
ilevel 1-59 minimum - Chance Orb
ilevel 60-74 - Chaos Orb
ilevel 75+ - Regret Orb

I hit level 90 in the turmoil event this evening, I had a pretty good time. I played a Brutus' Lead Sprinkler Berserker which handled pretty much everything really well. I also tried out the whole "shaped strand meta" with my atlas which is something I hadn't bothered to do before. I had assumed that it would be boring only running a handful of maps towards the end but honestly it was pretty refreshing not getting shitty maps anymore and I wish I had done it sooner. We'll see how things change with the atlas in 3.0.

Harbinger league sounds amazing. I'll definitely jump in.
Man, it is so hard to get the # of sockets I want, with the right links, and the right color. Just... blargh. I'm now playing some sort of socket-hop game to get all my blue spells linked with all the right red supports.

That is, in fact, the indirect way that builds are incentivized into predominately using certain kinds of armour (since socket colours are associated with the base stats of the armour).
You can run a 6-link with 5 blues and 1 green while wearing the heaviest plate armour out there, it'll just take you tens of thousands of chromatics to get those colours.

Best way to go is to get a Reverberation Rod or it's upgrade Amplification Rod for leveling. If it's early in the league I just 4l a decent pair of gloves and keep it until I get a 5l chest.

Yeah his missions suck as most people go full aoe in builds and his "well only kill this many" quests mean a grumbling swap to a single target gem heh to slowly work through the pack.
Decided to build up a lightning witch to try out the new lightning gem. Havent got there yet so just jedi lightning everything in the face. Pretty fun actually.

Seems to be all manner of bodily humors flowing here and there about some of the balance changes, especially bleed and poison as well as the new charge functionalities. GGG isn't indicating a backdown but I predict that making your build plans ironcast at launch isn't going to be the best course of action.

I'm thinking Gladiator Sunder. Seems safe.

Take my advice if that build makes it to maps:
Don't try to run Elemental Reflect. Just...just don't.

There's no looking involved.

You definitely want Vorici in your hideout.

Although 1500 fusing orbs sounds like a lot, previous to him there were people that would burn through 3-5k fusing orbs trying to get a 6 link.
The problem is that most of his missions are terrible. I think I need to do two more for him to get him to my hideout.
