Basic ebay selling question

DarkewolfeDarkewolfe Registered User regular
I'm selling something on ebay for the first time. The auction has closed and I have a successful bidder. I have paypal linked to ebay. What's not totally clear to me is how automated the invoicing process is for sellers. I've tried looking through the ebay documentation, and I'm overlooking something somehow. I'm not certain whether, as soon as the auction closes, the buyer can pay me. I saw that there was a "send invoice" button, so I used that and included a note asking whether the buyer was having any trouble with paypal. It's been about 48 hours since the auction closed, so I want to make sure I'm not screwing anything up on my end. I can't actually tell, though, did either of the ebay processes (auction close and "send invoice") provide the buyer with a way to pay me via paypal, or do I need to do something additional?

What is this I don't even.

It sounds like the seller just ghosted you or forgot they have to confirm the payment. That happened to me, where I was so used to using Amazon or Buy Now that I completely forgot to send payment. Send another message and just wait is all you can do.

Yeah, I'm not worried about whether or not I'll get paid. I dig how that works. I just want to make sure that one of the two mechanisms I've used provides the buyer with a way to pay me through paypal. I'll need to know this regardless of when I get a successful buyer.

sounds like the buyer either forgot or is holding off on paying, it's frustrating but not uncommon. eBay will send a payment reminder I think 3 days after the auction, and you can send a reminder any time you want via the "send invoice" button, but I prefer messaging them a gentle reminder, "hey it's been a few days, is there a problem?" kinda thing.

    Oh brilliant
