@RiemannLives I'm unfortunately super busy, so I can't watch the video right now. If you can give me the basic claims, I can see what I think?
I think the stuff you say is interesting and makes sense, although I'm honestly generally super critical of game theory being applied to biological phenomena, because a lot of systems people try to treat as rational are super irrational or prone to weird suboptimal feedback and easily perturbed or a million other things. That said, that makes a lot of sense - people often forget how useful cooperation is.
I had a great idea for the geth replacement competition but I didn't participate
I voted for Judge Dredd.

omg the administration got pissy about us holding an event where we always have last semester, because there is a new (less convenient) space that they want to make the program center, so they forced us to change this semester.
Attendance has dropped by like two thirds, and they are all telling us we need to get more people and that funding is going to be reduced because they can't justify it, while also asking why attendance has dropped and responding to "because this is super inconvenient?" with "it's not that much of a walk."

There is almost certainly a study about spatial decisionmaking by college students re: event attendance
I would bet a JSTOR subscription on its existence
While I do not doubt this, I remember going great lengths to get to free food, even if it was crappy free food.
This is true, but it's also true that small barriers can have dramatic effects. And grad students really really want to work, and leaving the lab is one thing, but leaving the building? Ehhhhh.
