Speaking of FFV, I was looking at the U++ AI and special mechanic for the next event in a couple weeks, and since my V SBs are weak with no medica or hastega, but I do have Grand Cross, I think it may actually be in my best interest to try to do the awful mimic game. If you satisfy him, you get an easy version where 80% of his attacks are ST with lowered stats. Between Gil draw fire and Grand Cross, that would make it a snap. The problem is beating the game. You need to mimic his casts of Firaga, Holy, Flare, and Meteor, and if you do anything else, he gets pissed off and goes into mostly NAT AoEs, but doesn't get the batshit insane stats previous berserk Gogos did. With no medicas though, it could be hard to heal from that. We'll have to see. I picture a lot of S/Ling either way.

Seaford Broadside isn't bad just an old attack/magic sb that is saved by being an aoe and her USB2 makes it more dated. Her SSB is pretty solid but I wouldn't want to pull just for it.
I've used Mostly Megaflare as an RW before, and I could see using it again. I've stopped running Y'shtola with Wall in favor of Sarah and her BSB, so I usually RW Wall. But if the boss has piercing attacks or a dispel, I'll bring RW Mostly Megaflare and my native Fran BSB and stack some breaks instead.
I use Ark Blast a ton, and now Walk the Plank either as a substitute or in conjunction with, depending on the fight. Rest of the team is usually Y'sh for healing/wall, either ramza or Tyro depending on what I need, and 2 heavy hitters to round out the group.

Sometimes. Depends on the team. My physical team gets crit boost from eiko, damage from TG CID OSB and Cloud OSB, Damage boost from lol DK Cecil, and I pick either Shout, OK boost, or some kind of debuff rw depending.
Or on my mage team to hit medal conditions sometimes.
Mainly if I'm not bringing a support or using Tyro for weird skills kind of build.
Most of the time I use Instant Cast Healer USB RW for dailies. I give everyone even mages melee weapons and armor, stick them in the front row and use a USB on stage 2 and 3. Mostly no one dies.

My RW usage is something like 70% Shout, 25% Vessel of Fate, 5% Metamorphose or whatever else is especially good at blending this week's Cid Mission. I prefer to have any damage-dealing SBs native (since buffs apply) and use the RW slot for the things that don't directly deal damage. Part of that may be my good fortune in owning lots of good damage+debuff SBs, though.
I've never seen MM come up as a RW, but I would probably use it if the situation called for it. I've started RWing Wall since I mostly center my party makeup around party ATK/MAG buffs now that I have several, but if I absolutely needed to bring Tyro for a certain fight, and couldn't really utilize an elemental weakness, my next tick mark would probably be mitigation via debuffs, sure.

Yeah, I'll do that sometimes
Typically if I do, my team looks like:
Phys DPS BSB
Phys DPS/Mage BSB
Ramza w/Shout
Tyro w/Wall
Healer BSB
And I'll have Tyro cast the RW, since damage isn't the point of the RW (and it's not like Tyro has anything better to do after walling.
If I don't need a Wall (or Wall is largely useless), I'll replace Tyro for Rikku so I can have better damage (and Rikku can add her own stacking debuff SB and Mug Bloodlust while also having an ability slot for a ProShellga).
Context being that I'm thinking of ways to use Auron with Banishing Blade, and having him summon a Support burst RW after buffing himself with Hailstorm seems like a decent idea. Sounds like the right time to do that is for a fight where Wall is less than optimal, and the enemy's damage focus is largely physical in nature.

If you are using DK Cecil's SB Soul Eater that gives +35% ATK to all allies, be warned that it does not stack with Shout. If you are using his BSB Dark Flame, that one is a self-only buff but does stack with Shout.

I'm using his +35 and I think I'm mostly aware of that. Shout is more for when I need haste. I also have his terrible SSB so I can also use that. Its more of team OSB spam.
Tidus CSB: Water chain! This is great if you have awesome water stuff to combo with it. Unfortunately, most players won't have much water stuff to combo with it. Yuna USB: Party Curaga + Raise + Last Stand + Haste. One of the few Raise effects that could actually get a dead character back to functional, since the Last Stand will allow them to take a hit and Haste will help get their ATB filled in time to take an action. Great for multiplayer, but for single player I'd usually rather have a more proactive medica. edit to add: don't get me wrong, this is a very powerful effect, I'd just usually rather have almost any other USB medica, and depending on your playstyle you may prefer this to those. Auron BSB2: En-fire. Features a ATK/DEF bargain C2. Auron can't do much with the fire aura right now, but in a few months Samurai will gain access to a pair of good 5* fire abilities. Overall, a solid DPS option. Lulu BSB: Ice MAG light armor. Hits ice/fire/water. Not as good in a general case as an en-element mage, especially since it doesn't have a MAG boost command that's becoming more common. It does hit three vulnerabilities though, which will be more valuable in the future. Lulu SSB2: Ice doll. En-ice. A fairly boring SB on a character who is a little iffy due to lack of skill access, and the item itself isn't transferable. Rikku SSB2: Party ATK/MAG buff with self instant cast 2. Offense buffs are good, and there are a variety of ways you can fit Rikku into a team. Pretty good for an SSB. Paine SSB2: En-water. It's just damage, but it's a pretty good amount of damage. She can capitalize on the aura with Engulfing Twinstrike. Braska SSB2: Holy robe. Party MAG buff + high regen + quick magic attacks 3. You need a certain number of MAG buffs to make a mage team work, and if you've got haste covered somewhere else, this one is pretty darn good. Braska SSB3: Fire MAG staff. En-fire. Zzzzzz.
Banner 2
Jecht OSB: It's an OSB! Unfortunately it's a blitzball, so it's not very transferable as a stat stick. Paine BSB: Water ATK light armor. AOE water/earth/wind damage plus dispel. Commands are just damage. AOE dispel is occasionally very useful (****ing Mandragoras) but in other scenarios this is just damage, and not very much of it. At least it covers three odd elements. Kimahri BSB: It's an imperil water! C1 is damage plus ally heal, which is somewhere between "decent" and "amazeballs" depending on your playstyle. C2 is damage plus self ether, which I'm not a fan of. Tidus BSB: En-water. An early generation burst, still does decent damage if you capitalize via Sapphire Shot. Tidus' USB will be a big improvement on this, but that's still like five months off. Jecht SSB2: Dark ATK light armor. Damage plus party +50% ATK. Not my preferred form of +50% ATK (which would be Shout) but if you've got hastega covered somewhere else, this could be decent. Rikku SSB1: Mug ATK/RES. Dualbreaks are good. Great against physical-heavy enemies, helps Rikku to fit well on a mage team. Kimahri SSB: Lifesiphonable magic blink is a great tool to have in your arsenal. Yuna SSB2: Party Curaga + 2000 HP stock. Generally you'd prefer a burst medica, or one of the new USB medicas that is strictly better than this, but it's aging remarkably well for a SSB. Jecht SSB1: Damage plus party crit fix 25%. A little dated, but still a decent damage option on a physical team if you don't have another source of crit rate boost.
Overall thoughts, future banners, etc.
I'm pulling on banner 1 because I have a few water pieces to go with the chain and because Auron is my favorite character. Banner 1 could also be interesting as a source of MAG buffs if you don't have any yet. Banner 2 is difficult to recommend, as the top end isn't noteworthy. Paine's BSB at least offers a very rare AOE dispel option, but that effect is not called for very often.
Next X event is in about three months. Banner 1 features Rikku USB + BSB + LMR, Lulu USB + BSB + LMR, and Paine BSB. Banner 2 features Auron USB + LMR, Wakka USB + BSB, Tidus BSB+LMR, and Braska BSB. Rikku USB is a pretty fantastic set of buffs (party +30% ATK/MAG, haste, protect, and shell) in addition to being a 6* fist that boosts water damage in all realms (great for Edge/Yuffie). I expect a lot of people will pull for it.

Abe All Star RW on 99 Cloud and 99 Orlandu at the same time. All I needed to keep everyone alive was Eiko and Yshtola BSB, shell, protect, wall and multibreak dance. Tyro died anyways.

Not frequently, but if the enemy hits like a truck and/or has DEF/RES ignoring moves, I sometimes RW Ark Blast or equivalent (I have Mostly Megaflare native). This is in addition to my normal suite of debuffing, not as a substitute. If one native debuffer is sufficient, I tend to just RW a safety net (Eiko USB, Vanille BSB, etc.) which often goes unused, since I have native wall/OK BSB/etc.

Yuna's USB tempts me, since I lack a native Hastega that isn't Inaugural Parade. Which means 9/10 times I'm RWing Vessel of Fate.
But she'd have to replace Eiko on the team, and I have Eiko's BSB.

I don't know what your mage relic situation is in full, but you could make a half baked mage team with inaugural parade. 20% isn't amazing, but there are a ton of double hit magic attacks. I certainly would want more, but Seymour should pump out respectable damage with just that buff as an example (and if I am remembering the right person).

If Affliction Break is your motivation, then Sentinel Grimoire/Shout may not be enough for you. You probably* want a burst to go with Affliction Break, or failing that, at least a SB that is usefully spammable for damage/healing via Lifesiphon/Wrath in your other slot, which doesn't apply to either
Anyway, if you've already committed the crystals for Affliction Break, my recommendation would be to trust that it'll be useful at some point and not throw mythril at KC2 trying to make it useful now, especially since SG is pretty redundant with the SS2 you already have.
*- for A+ Belias multiplayer, I used R2 Affliction Break + R3 breakdown on Shout Ramza, and had to basic attack several times because he didn't have enough actions to last the fight
As a big Affliction Break preacher, yeah for best usage is probably in Multiplayer on a BSB Support.
A lot of times I bring Faris kitted with some combination of Armor Breakdown, Affliction Break, and Mug Bloodlust. I open Beryl Serpent for Full Break, Affliction Break, CMD2 for Power Breakdown, CMD1 for Magic Breakdown, then lastly Armor Breakdown, then cycle as necessary.

Marach's BSB has been a workhorse for me the last couple weeks. Makes me wish I had a lightning imperil to complete the set.
It looks like you have all the parts of a good-great mage team when you can hone it at least. I know the pain of having to wait to hone up before you can build a team. Mage teams with BSBs can work without chain-gas at least even if it is sub optimal. Sub-optimal doesn't mean un-workable though. For me? I would run Marach, Rinoa, Ramza, Edea, and a healer of your choice. Of course doing so would delay getting the chain-gas, but that is up to you. Marach only needs enough hones to get his BSB going, and Rinoa is close to self sustaining and will be hitting a weakness. Edea you just need hones for. No two ways about it.
My 2-bits at least. I dunno your orb situation. I will say it eventually evens out at least. Mostly through events in my experience for 5* skills, but realm dungeons are an amazing source of orbs.
I think I'm going to do a pull on the FFX banner, since my FFX synergy is pretty antiquated (I don't think I have any SSBs or up, just basic SBs), and my biggest elemental holes are water, ice, and dark.
I wanted to do a pull on the FFV gogo banner, but that's looking too close to the uber festival and ucloud banners, which are going to be black holes for my mythril.

Last maintenance goes up to the FFV event, which was the last one before the next fest in Japan and/or UCloud which was part of it. I wouldn't be shocked if they pushed UCloud back a little bit though because it was only like 5 dungeons total and the single banner, so making it its own event could be a little crappy. We won't know much until the next mainteinance/datadump though, which won't be until likely around June 13th probably. Last year, the 'Christmas' fest was very end of June/start of July, so that's a decent ballpark for our fest.

Festival is probably going to be around mid-June. Noctis OSB is almost certainly going to be on one of the banners there. There isn't going to be a proper XV event for ~16 weeks yet, so you've got a while before a proper XV banner.

Oh man, I just realized tonight is the night! Finally Fujin will be launched into the proper place in terms of raw power. I do have the hard decision of her or Raines up first for full record diving, but that is back burnered anyways. Terra and probably Celes get first round. From there we will see, but always my favorites first.
Oh snap, Fujin and Larsa get their MC3s today? Time to get them to 99!
Fujin's already dived enough to be just a hair short of the ninja softcap with Alphinaud's dagger and her jacket. A few more points of MAG and she's going to cap with Raging Storm on literally every boss that isn't wind-resistant.
As for Larsa, I just want to get him to 99 for maximum burst usage - an Astra/Curaga-medica combo on a character that can Wrath is just too good, despite not being able to fit him into most of my teams (I've already got Y'shtola's and Eiko's bursts, which I think are better for most fights).

Paine BSB: Water ATK light armor. AOE water/earth/wind damage plus dispel. Commands are just damage. AOE dispel is occasionally very useful (****ing Mandragoras) but in other scenarios this is just damage, and not very much of it. At least it covers three odd elements.
Kimahri BSB: It's an imperil water! C1 is damage plus ally heal, which is somewhere between "decent" and "amazeballs" depending on your playstyle. C2 is damage plus self ether, which I'm not a fan of.
Tidus BSB: En-water. An early generation burst, still does decent damage if you capitalize via Sapphire Shot. Tidus' USB will be a big improvement on this, but that's still like five months off.
Jecht SSB2: Dark ATK light armor. Damage plus party +50% ATK. Not my preferred form of +50% ATK (which would be Shout) but if you've got hastega covered somewhere else, this could be decent.
Rikku SSB1: Mug ATK/RES. Dualbreaks are good. Great against physical-heavy enemies, helps Rikku to fit well on a mage team.
Kimahri SSB: Lifesiphonable magic blink is a great tool to have in your arsenal.
Yuna SSB2: Party Curaga + 2000 HP stock. Generally you'd prefer a burst medica, or one of the new USB medicas that is strictly better than this, but it's aging remarkably well for a SSB.
Jecht SSB1: Damage plus party crit fix 25%. A little dated, but still a decent damage option on a physical team if you don't have another source of crit rate boost.

Next X event is in about three months. Banner 1 features Rikku USB + BSB + LMR, Lulu USB + BSB + LMR, and Paine BSB. Banner 2 features Auron USB + LMR, Wakka USB + BSB, Tidus BSB+LMR, and Braska BSB. Rikku USB is a pretty fantastic set of buffs (party +30% ATK/MAG, haste, protect, and shell) in addition to being a 6* fist that boosts water damage in all realms (great for Edge/Yuffie). I expect a lot of people will pull for it.

Abe All Star RW on 99 Cloud and 99 Orlandu at the same time. All I needed to keep everyone alive was Eiko and Yshtola BSB, shell, protect, wall and multibreak dance. Tyro died anyways.
Good lord they throw a lot of damage!

Not frequently, but if the enemy hits like a truck and/or has DEF/RES ignoring moves, I sometimes RW Ark Blast or equivalent (I have Mostly Megaflare native). This is in addition to my normal suite of debuffing, not as a substitute. If one native debuffer is sufficient, I tend to just RW a safety net (Eiko USB, Vanille BSB, etc.) which often goes unused, since I have native wall/OK BSB/etc.
But she'd have to replace Eiko on the team, and I have Eiko's BSB.

I don't know what your mage relic situation is in full, but you could make a half baked mage team with inaugural parade. 20% isn't amazing, but there are a ton of double hit magic attacks. I certainly would want more, but Seymour should pump out respectable damage with just that buff as an example (and if I am remembering the right person).
As a big Affliction Break preacher, yeah for best usage is probably in Multiplayer on a BSB Support.
A lot of times I bring Faris kitted with some combination of Armor Breakdown, Affliction Break, and Mug Bloodlust. I open Beryl Serpent for Full Break, Affliction Break, CMD2 for Power Breakdown, CMD1 for Magic Breakdown, then lastly Armor Breakdown, then cycle as necessary.
Yea I have Inaugural Parade, Marach's BSB, Rinoa's BSB, Ramza's USB for more MAG, and Raines' Finery & Gloves. The Mage team sits in the back when I need it for certain fights, but it's pretty decent.
It's a matter of hones at this point. I haven't committed to making any of the Chain-gas since I'd only be able to take 1 to R2. Might be able to sneak in a R2 Dark Zone along with a Chain-ga, but probably short of orbs.

Marach's BSB has been a workhorse for me the last couple weeks. Makes me wish I had a lightning imperil to complete the set.

My 2-bits at least. I dunno your orb situation. I will say it eventually evens out at least. Mostly through events in my experience for 5* skills, but realm dungeons are an amazing source of orbs.
I wanted to do a pull on the FFV gogo banner, but that's looking too close to the uber festival and ucloud banners, which are going to be black holes for my mythril.
Apart from some of the new goodies in that fest, I think a lot of it will be a skip just like the last one was. There are specific key realm events I'm looking forward to where my mythril is earmarked because most of those new toys will come back around, with the exception of Terra's so far.

Last maintenance goes up to the FFV event, which was the last one before the next fest in Japan and/or UCloud which was part of it. I wouldn't be shocked if they pushed UCloud back a little bit though because it was only like 5 dungeons total and the single banner, so making it its own event could be a little crappy. We won't know much until the next mainteinance/datadump though, which won't be until likely around June 13th probably. Last year, the 'Christmas' fest was very end of June/start of July, so that's a decent ballpark for our fest.
Festival is probably going to be around mid-June. Noctis OSB is almost certainly going to be on one of the banners there. There isn't going to be a proper XV event for ~16 weeks yet, so you've got a while before a proper XV banner.
Fujin's already dived enough to be just a hair short of the ninja softcap with Alphinaud's dagger and her jacket. A few more points of MAG and she's going to cap with Raging Storm on literally every boss that isn't wind-resistant.
As for Larsa, I just want to get him to 99 for maximum burst usage - an Astra/Curaga-medica combo on a character that can Wrath is just too good, despite not being able to fit him into most of my teams (I've already got Y'shtola's and Eiko's bursts, which I think are better for most fights).
