Remind me, how does the golden Sylv/Rag dusting thing work?
You receive a full dust refund for the most expensive versions of up to the playable numbers of a card rotating to the Hall of Fame.
A gold Sylv/Rag will return the 3200 dust you spent crafting it. If you already own a regular Sylv/Rag you 'lose out' on the 1600 dust you would have gotten for that one. So the net cost for making a golden Sylv/Rag is 1600 dust each, which is half off the regular price.

Unless you don't own Rag already and don't plan on keeping him for Wild play. Then you can make a profit
Wait, what's all this now? I have never played wild, and am ok with getting rid of anything that can't be used in standard, so is there a way for me to get some free dust or something? What exactly do I have to do?

Several cards that are super-common or problematic in the Classic set are getting rotated to Wild via the Hall of Fame.
If you don't own Ragnaros (for example), you can make some extra dust (or get him for free in Wild).
To get him for free, just craft either the regular or golden version (you have to have this dust initially). When the rotation happens, you get the full dust value for the more expensive one back. So if you have a Gold Ragnaros, you get 3200 dust total regardless of even if you also have a normal Rag. If you only have a normal Rag, you get 1600 dust. (If you have fifty normal Rags for some reason, you still just get 1600 dust.)
To get the dust (if you don't already have any version of Rag!), you craft a Golden Rag for 3200 dust. You get 3200 back at the rotation, which breaks you even. Then you disenchant Golden Rag for 1600 dust profit. Alternatively, if you don't have the initial dust investment, you can just craft a normal Rag, follow the same idea, and you get 400 dust profit.
If you already have Ragnaros, don't need to do anything. You can decide after the rotation if you want to keep him or dust it.
This works similarly for the other soon-to-be-Hall-of-Fame cards, although I think due to dust values you can always make a profit by crafting Golden Commons and DE-ing after?
Before you do anything though, wait for someone in the thread to verify this is correct. I think so, but I have been mistaken about it in the past :P
If you just want maximum profit:
Craft gold commons (50 dust profit if you don't own them, 10 if you do)
Craft gold Drakes only if you don't have two regular copies (100 dust profit if you don't own them, 0 if you do)
Craft gold Sylv/Rag only if you don't own them (1600 dust profit if you don't own them 0 if you do)
Disenchant everything after
Looking at the current meta and looking at this expansion, I think Ungoro is going to be a really really good expansion in a goddamn year when MSoG rotates Jade and Pirates.

So not 3200 dust but 1600 dust to create two golden rares?
Gold rares are 800 dust each.
Yes that's exactly what I said. He stated he didn't have 3200 dust to create a golden legendary but he apparently has 1600 to create two golden rares
I don't know if you mean it this way (I imagine not), but the way you phrased this it almost comes off as accusatory. like someone having 2000 dust, and thus having more than 1600 but less than 3200, is somehow a preposterous proposition

I'm pretty low on gold from practically not playing the game, but I do have a shitload of dust. Even more after the rotation. So I should be able to craft whatever broke ass deck is out there, if I want to.
But probably I'll just make some janky time warp mage because that's more fun anyway.

Oh ok. I was just saying that it's so expensive to craft golden rares (and golden commons for that matter) that it's funny that they have enough for something that costs 8x the amount of the regular version
Had a druid largely on the ropes, despite the fact that he was running mill cards (FUCK MILL!), and I ended up with a cleared board going into his turn - but that's okay, because despite him milling Tyrion and Finja, I'd played and lost both murloc chargers and Warleaders and had both Anyfins in-hand, and I was at 28 health to his ...13? 14? ... and it was coming up on turn 10.
Yeah, so ... Aviana, Kun (+10 mana), Bran, Dark Arokkoa x2, C'Thun for 36 damage.
I guess it's a lot of cards to combo, but seriously ...
Redeemed myself when I beat a Reno mage (running two ice blocks, naturally, and drawing both of them at the appropriate times) who got not one, not two, but THREE Kazakus potions, including one that polymophed all minions into sheep which he used the turn after I Anyfinned. Luckily, he was so beat down at that point that the 5 remaining 1/1s were actually enough to kill him.
He got his potions from playing Kazakus normally once, then dropping dropping Bran and Kabal Courier who got him another Kazakus, and then dropping that immediately to get two additional potions. Such bullshit RNG - very glad to beat that one despite Hearthstone saying, "You know what? I'm just going to give this mage the win."
Regarding Taunts:
Timewarp, Doomsayer is a thing right? Which you can follow up with your next turn with giants or charge creatures.
Unless your opponent kept his handsize up, he will be in trouble. Spice up with Alex?

I'm honestly just not sure at all what state Mage is going to be in. Ice Lance, Flame Waker, Arcane Blast, and Forgotten Torch all disappear. Freeze and Tempo are somewhere between "pretty fucked" and "dead & buried" and the tools that replace them are trying to force Secret or Casino mage. We're replacing aggro and control archtypes with a slow reactionary and RNG archtype.
I'm extremely pessimistic about mage decks going forward

still didn't buy the packs but I will have some dust and I haven't been playing so it's hard to lay out the cash. I'm sure I'll regret it within a week or two.
Hmmm, maybe some eggs or other death rattle take advantage of the doomsayer. You can cast an egg, doomsayer and timewarp in one turn at least, or set it up beforehand.
It takes some digging though.

It's so many cards though, you have to ask yourself if it's more bother to just set up a TimeWarp turn with Anton or Leeroy. The thing about TimeWarp that I don't like is it's not a *lot* better than Frost Nova.
Well the original kill took some set up aswell, with multiple firelances, frostbolts and fireballs.
I'm curious if the meta will allow for the scavenger hunt to warp the game in your favor big time.

Definitely seems like warrior, shaman, and warlock got the "on paper" most powerful new tools. Which is a shame because they were the classes that needed the least amount of help.
