In the latest "Nintendo is doomed" news, the Switch version of Lego City Undercover has sold better than all other versions in its first week in the UK.
Wow. This must be a really big thing for Switch, right?
I'm really stoked for this year's E3 - hopefully there are loads of first and third part titles for Switch.

For the repair order, Nintendo sent five different e-mails (setting up repair account x 2 emails, customer survey, shipping label, other).
I missed the "other" e-mail. When I was on the phone with support they said to follow all the shipping instructions. I thought the instructions were a bit light with the label, just how to pack it, how to put the tracking number on the box, etc. But I figured they had a good system for scanning it in and pulling up the repair number.
The "other" e-mail I missed said I needed to write the repair number, issue I was having, and return address on a piece of paper to put in the box as well. Since all that info was on the shipping label and the one set of instructions didn't mention this, I thought that was it.
So now I'm thinking my joycon is going to get to a third party repair place, and they're not going to have any idea what the repair ticket is on it unless they also use the label. In which case I won't get my joycon back by this weekend after all. Sigh.
What is this I don't even.

You might be good, still. I'm guessing the sheet of paper really just makes it easier for them to pull the information up faster and let them fly through the repairs. I'm assuming you gave them the serial number of your device in which they can pull that information up.

True, though I don't think the joycons have serial numbers on them. I called support and he said that's probably not a problem, since they'll still have my name, shipping address, other label stuff, so they can hopefully fetch it.
Grumpy with myself for missing the other e-mail. I just want to play switch. I only got a couple hours in of zelda.
Guess we will be getting release dates since they are getting close

I'm so pumped on Arms. Zelda is losing it's hold on me now that I'm approaching "the end", and I can't wait to have an online multiplayer Rock'Em Sock'Em with Punch Out! mechanics.
Will never happen, but some kind of deal/discount for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I'm hoping for.
Seriously, especially for those of us who bought it (and all DLC) digitally. They even have a record of our purchases already tied to our Nintendo account. There's no reason they couldn't offer some kind of incentive.
Although it's really just pissing into the wind, I know it won't happen.

If a company were to cater to its collective user base for sales on their new console, it would probably be Nintendo. I'd like to think that being a family friendly company comparatively to Sony or Microsoft, that they'd make a change if enough people asked for it.
Then again, I've been wrong before. I mean, there hasn't even been a new Metroid game since Metroid Prime 3.

This doesn't seem to mesh with my perception of Nintendo at all. More "family friendly" maybe but "listens to what their customers want" doesn't seem to be Nintendo's best trait. I mean shit, we still have friend codes after they lied about not having friend codes. We still have a weird account system and no way to backup save data.
I highly doubt you're going to see any sort of discounts for people who already own MK8.

I think you're mistakenly under the impression that they see their customers as who we represent, the more hard core gamer types, and not as families and more casual gamers.
There's a disconnect there but I do not think they are using us as a guide stick at all.

I don't think they're listening to either of those groups. And the "More hard core gamer types" are easily the most vocal of the groups. Other companies are certainly keeping up on stuff like cloud saves, Nintendo just puts their fingers in their ears and says LOOK AN INFRARED CAMERA THOUGH.
You don't have to think of your base as being the (much more informed and vocal) gamer audience, but either way you need to pay attention to what everyone else is doing.

Oh this is 100% true and always has been for Nintendo.
It has not always been true for Nintendo. The whole reason Mario even exists is because the president of NOA at the time made a mistake and needed to change around 2000 unsold cabinets' program into a new game, and they assigned a rookie to make a game specifically targeted to America. Plus, many of the decisions made during the following years were made for the international market, and Mother 1's translation paved the way for changes in how games were localized, and probably made from scratch in Japan.
I think they do listen, but everything gets filtered through their Nintendo corporate culture, and then their final decisions seem weird from the outside. Like there was that thing about how the direction the Paper Mario series has gone was directly a result of Club Nintendo surveys. Or how they see people talking about Metroid, and then what ends up coming out is Federation Force.
I do wish they'd get cloud saves added, though. They've done a few things that don't make sense to me with the Switch, but that's really the only one that might end up affecting me directly. I'm still hoping that they just didn't have all the OS stuff ready for launch, and we'll get cloud saves, friend codes eliminated, etc., when the online stuff is all launched this year.
By the way, is it true that Jackbox 3 is coming out this week? That might be a good one to have for bringing out the Switch for game nights or rooftop gatherings. Although I guess it doesn't really show off the hardware particularly.
Hey man, we played CoD a few times. I don't know if you remember this, but I totally saved you from a grenade by throwing it back once. I just sayin' it's not mandatory, but it is kinda rude not to repay a kindness.

If I see a Switch in the wild I'll buy it for a PA person. Naturally they just need to pay me back the cost (~$330 after tax) and it's yours. I'm currently on the lookout for @Mvrck right now. Hell, I'll help my out-of-state folks as well if they include shipping costs.
As for CoD, I'm sure my Riot Shield play more than paid you back for return grenade tosses. How many killstreaks did you earn hiding behind me?

Graceful Explosion Machine is pretty great, add me if you've got it! I'm not very good and am constantly restarting in frustration, but loving every second of it.
I don't have any reason to get Jackbox right now since I've got it on PS4, and at my place is about the only place I'd play it, but I'm really glad it's coming out for the system. It will be a must buy for the couple of camping trips we have planned with extended family this summer.

I believe the slip is to make it easier for those at the repair center, but generally speaking it shouldn't even add any extra time to the repair. I mean, it's been several years since I've worked there but I doubt that has changed, so you should be good.
