If I was running Nintendo, I'd port every big Wii U title to the Switch at a heavily reduced price ($20). It fleshes out the library at a low cost to you and the consumer while giving older games that a lot of people missed a chance to shine. Roll them out monthly to fill in the downtime between original IP/Switch content.
If you want to get real ambitious, you release a "Save transfer tool" for Switch/Wii U that let's players transfer any existing save files.
$20? Come on. I'd love if it would happen, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is full price AND selling like hotcakes. I know not every game is Mario Kart and wouldn't sell banana bonkers, but for those games they'd probably rather just not port it over altogether.
OK, $20-$30 depending on the title. Remember, this is the fantasy world where I'm running Nintendo. :P

Weren't the "new play control" Gamecube re-releases for Wii relatively cheap? It's not impossible, especially for games that don't need changing (Mario Kart 8 got a lot of changes under the hood on top of the new battle modes).
While I tend to roll my eyes at the vast amount of reissues the AAA biz has clung to as a lifeline, for Nintendo it makes sense given how poorly the Wii U performed.

Nah. I'd say probably most of them not until next year or later so you aren't competing with your own titles. Save Bayo for a re-release when Bayo3 happens. Captain Toad, DKC, SF0, Mirage Sessions, and TPHD at least are all still on shelves for more than $20. Wooly World just got a 3DS release. The best candidates right now are probably Wonderful 101 and Rayman Legends, and if there isn't a new Pikmin in the pipe, Pikmin 3.

Well the Wii could play the gamecube games by default too. They essentially have two mobile consoles now. So they will release some on 3DS like Wooly World and some on the Switch like MH XX.

The difference here is that, in terms of hardware and engine and all that good stuff, the Wii was essentially a souped up Gamecube. It was probably hilariously easy to get those Gamecube games running on the Wii. Whereas, the Switch is supposedly a pretty different beast than the WiiU. It might not be a straight up "port" job but it would require a lot more tinkering. For super niche titles like Wonderful 101, Bayonetta, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, it's probably more of a hassle than its worth.
The other difference is that, as I said, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is $60 and selling very well. Why put in the effort and undercut the value?
My point is, a lot of those games aren't relevant enough to demand ports, and the ports we do get are unlikely to have a heavily discounted price, if they're discounted at all.
But seriously, it's not that hard but isn't perfect. I got it working on my switch with little trouble yesterday, but when I took it to a friend's later, I couldn't get it to sync for the life of me. I believe you can also just connect it via its included USB cable? I haven't tried that yet.

Edit: It's friggin perfect you guys. Holy crap this thing is so good. It's small enough to be considered portable but large enough to where it wont give you hand cramps ala the single joycon (and I have large hands). The buttons are all very clicky and responsive.. including L1R1 and L2 R2. I thought having those two side by side would feel weird but nope, I guess my time with the N3DS prepared me well for that. I feel like I've just unlocked a secret level for the Switch that no one knows about yet.
By the way the combo of NES30 Pro and the Hybrid Cover is sooooooo good. It basically turns the Switch into a miniaturized entertainment center with minimal fuss. I highly recommend getting the Hybrid Cover if you're picking this controller up, or even if you're not. It provides excellent protection and doubles as a damn good stand. I'm about to go try out some Street Fighter with the d-pad. I'll have more in-depth thoughts later.
PS man this thing is sexy.. just look at that pic!
Edit: one thing it can't do, however, is wake the console up out of sleep mode. You have to re-pair when that happens. Luckily the process is quick and painless. (nevermind.. it does stay paired when the Switch goes to sleep.. the controller went to sleep and I didn't turn it on until after I booted up the switch which caused the de-pairing.. I think). I also wish it had a little bit more weight to it but it's really not too bad to be honest. If only it could somehow incorporate HD rumble.. now that would be the dream.

I'd much rather get that Mana triple pack that Square-Enix are working on localized. Seiken Densetsu 3 is an absolute gem.
the second half of bravely default is better than the first half and it outsold lightning returns in their first month(they both came out in feb)
no idea how bravely second sold though
I mean... I don't know how anyone could say this with a straight face. I loved the first half and noped the fuck out after about 3-4 hours into the other half. That's the first time I've EVER heard that. Some people said it was tolerable but BETTER?
I have no idea what the scale of the Bravely series is, but if it's on par with a second-tier Japanese game that's not too shabby. But if it tried to get within spitting distance of a AAA game that's probably at least a disappointment.
the second half of bravely default is better than the first half and it outsold lightning returns in their first month(they both came out in feb)

I'm actually interested in that position (not the sales thing, that's a fact). I personally thought the story was fine in the second half up until chapter 7. The reveal in Chapter 6, and the choice you can make there, put a really nice cap on the story and work really well. But I think that chapters 7 and 8 drag things out too long and require the cast to act out of character.
the side quests in chapter 7 are the best story content in the entire game. 8 doesn't have story content but it has challenge fights that bravely second was sorely missing
in my experience there are a couple VERY LOUD voices about the second half and everyone else loved it
Mechanically, the fights in the last two chapters are very nice, and I love that. Story-wise, I've soured more on that part of the game over time, aside from the optional content. It's that damn plot hole.
see I don't really care about the overarching plot that much, I want smaller side character stories which 7 had in spades. that's why I like FE: conquest so much even though the story is turbogarbage. great gameplay, great characters. I didn't think it was that big of a plot hole either?
sure you can kill airy, but the whole point of letting her get her way is that it will lead you to oroborus so you can put an end to things forever. otherwise another airy will appear

sure you can kill airy, but the whole point of letting her get her way is that it will lead you to oroborus so you can put an end to things forever. otherwise another airy will appear
the issue is that the party shouldn't know that. In a story path where they don't break the crystal, nobody informs them of an evil beyond Airy, and yet they're talking between chapters 6 and 7 as if they know and have a plan. Nothing like what happens in BS's chapter 5 has happened to let them know what happened down that alternate route.
But then, as soon as chapter 8 ends, they're all excited about closing the Chasm, and gobsmacked when Airy reveals her treachery. In order to get past chapter 6, they need to know more than they could, but as soon as chapter 8 ends, they've forgotten plot points that are now so obvious that the title sceeen knows. It reads like the writers wanted their big reveal without thinking about how they were going to get there. When I played through to the true ending, I had been hoping that they had thought that angle out a bit better.
Which is something I like about BS. That one thinks about an angle for alternate-universe knowledge, and makes it work to great effect in chapter 5. If that plot point had happened in BD, I think it would've worked better.
I can understand the preference for better fights over a better-wrought story, though. BS had little beyond the remixed fights in chapter 5, and the one new boss in the Dimensional Cauldron. Hopefully, the eventual third game will improve both aspects.

Oh man.. this thing works so great with Street Fighter. I'm hitting combos with impunity that were once thought impossible.
While I'd love to see me some more Bayo... I'd kinda like to see them do something new and crazy as well?
Or if they were allowed to dip into the Nintendo IP vault and do something fun with games that havn't been touched in a while.
We know Nintendo isn't opposed to this idea because Wonderful 101 was originally supposed to be chock full of Nintendo characters instead of Super Heroes, right?
Although I'm not married to the idea of them using Nintendo IP's, it is fun to think about. Despite StarFox Zero, I'd love to see a Star Fox game 100% made by Platinum through and through. Alternatively, perhaps something like a Metroid game. I'm thinking of how cool the action looked in the Metroid: Other M reveal, before the reality of it became apparent.

Bayonetta and TMS would just be super nice bonuses on top of that, though, since those two (three, really) and HW were the main things I wanted to get a Wii U for.
Random Has Been Heroes update, since there's no official thread:
I finally paid attention to how the Princesses work.
- Once their orb is full, any souls collected are wasted.
- Using a princess ability to cast a spell adds +20 to the orb capacity
- So, if the princess abilities are not used, only 40 souls will be collected for the run total
In conclusion, it's probably best to use their ability when possible. So what to use their ability on....
Well...
- My current warrior who has the 'Dark' battleshout that gives +100% dmg to next combo
- He has the +1 hit for back stab and +1 hit for a spell cast.
- So, do the backstab (2x) ...
- cast battleshout (3x) ...
- cast doublestrike (6x) ...
- cast doublestrike with princess 1 (12x) ...
- cast doublestrike with princess 2 (24x) ...
24 hits at double damage with a warrior is basically instadeath to any enemy in the game. Crazy!
