The sim aspects are honestly getting more and more haphazard as they plop in more and more weird options like the DVD rentals. It kind of felt like they were going for the DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING open world approach and tossed in every possible thing they could think of. Like the batting cage minigame. Are you serious with that, guys? Couldn't the time spent coding that have been better used like... literally anywhere else?

And why I'm 100% A-okay with following a guide for Persona games, so I don't stumble into all the various frustrating ways you can screw yourself over because it nags at you to try out things that are hideously inefficient or just plain dumb to do, yet the crunch/hurt for it comes some 40 hours of game later as time starts to run out. Fine if you plan on playing through twice. Well, twice on the same game version. But otherwise, eh. I just really dislike it when games force a limited resource management system and then obfuscate as much of it as they can so you can't tell what's optimal, if you're doing well/badly, what you need to be prioritizing, so on and so forth.
    /rant

yea, I would be totally ok with all the extra added stuff if it didn't force your time. DVD rentals, shopping, library books, all the little quick stuff, I should be able to do whenever.
The only things that should force time forward are Skills Training, Social Links, and the Dungeon. Even then, after a dungeon, I should be able to go and shop and offload my swagbag.

This seems like an odd complaint because we don't know until the end of the gsme exactly how long you have to max links out. Like yes you lose days to scripted events, but it doesn't change your game plan much if at all and you didn't think you had 70 more game play days amd thanks to this event it's only 69 now.

I feel like i'm hitting the ground running here.
Just finished the 6th palace avoided being shot in the face by the MOST OBVIOUS TRAITOR EVER And i think i can see the end of the game over the hill from here. I'm running out of time i have like 4 confidants left i need to max out. (Star, empress, hermit, hanged)

As much as I love P5 so far, I really think the formula has to end here. They've refined it as much as possible. The future of Persona should go back to being P2. There can be be-all/end-all destinations that move the story forward, but apart from that, you should have free reign to spend your time however you want. The 'you have one year' thing made sense in P3. It's been forced since then.

I think they can expand this way further. Get away from the obscure time management. Expand the social links. Maybe take it away from the high school setting.

I would take it away from the high school setting but the tension related to managing time efficiently is what I like most about the game.

Yeah, but I imagine there's a much more organic way of doing it then 'take a action, it's now evening'.

I think they raised a good point last week on the Friendcast that there is a big difference between Morgana telling you you're too tired to do something and your character saying "I'm too tired to do that, I need to sleep."

That's what I meant, actually. Above average score pulled two points for me, pretty sure I got everything right. Unless it's tied to your knowledge rank as well.

    On female confidants in general
I think it's partially a reaction to the portion of the fanbase that liked social links such as the nurse from P4 more than the dateable characters and then the designers decided to go nuts add even more young adult females available.

One other thing that kind of bothers me? Not really but a little? With regard to P5 vs P3 and P4.

it's kind of the nature of the beast, since the last two games were tied to natural phenomena, and here they have to tailor particular circumstances for every single dungeon

on the other hand, p4 did have the mysterious always correct weather girl...

I have been saving at trying both options whenever I'm close, just to see the rank nine conversation and
To me her reaction doesn't sound like she's interested at all, it felt uncomfortably like you were putting her into a position where she couldn't say no.

I'm sure she is one of the more popular romance options but her friendship path has more consistency.

Best ways to raise stats I've seen so far:

Rank one of Fortune S-Link lets you pay 5000y to boost stat gain for the rest of the day.
Movies once a month, are good for 3-5 points in a stat.
Books generally give three points to a stat after finishing. I bought a really expensive book in booktown that may be worth more.

Guts - Big Bang Burger Challenge is worth 2-3 points per attempt, if you succeed you get 1, 2 and then 3 points to Charm, Knowledge, Guts and Proficiency for succeeding.
Death S-Link gives 2 points early on.

Charm - Level up Devil and Charm S-Links, you get three charm per level.
Bathhouse on Mon/Thurs nights gives three Charm, four if it is raining, but has the chance to be Guts instead.
Hanging out with Yusuke while on summer holidays gives three pounts. It will tell you I advance if you'll gain charm.

Knowledge - The diner during rainy weather gives three points plus one in Guts, Kindness or Charm depending on what you order with it.
Star S-Link gives 1 point per level but requires 4 Charm to start.

Proficiency - Making thieving tools gives 2-3 points
Baseball gives 2-3 points depending on how well you do I think.

Kindness - Feeding your plant in your room gives 1-3 points depending on how expensive the fertiliser you use is, Shibuya store next to cinema, underground mall and Shinjuku flowershop respectively.

Kindess +2 from working at the plant store.
Proficiency +2 or 3 from the Beef Bowl restaurant.
Sundays the juice store as a special juice for 5000y. It raises one stat +1, takes no time. The stat is not random, it goes in a specific order as you buy previous juices.

Im pretty sure i would play a game like persona even without the combat. I always try to just do each section in one day in every persona and the grind is always what burns me out. I just want to run around japan doing stuff and talking to people. Not doing the dungeons in one day wastes days you could do anything else. Id totally play something like a mario party minigame collection with social links instead

It's about as fast as it can possibly be this time around. Attack animations are quick, you can target a weakness with a button tap, even all out attacks are only a few seconds long. Cutting it out entirely would be too much of a change for the target audience, regardless of what they replaced it with.
